Recently returned from a week at Damon. Arrived at 3 in morning to find we did not have 2 bedroom apartment as booked, but waited until next day. To be fair manager Stavros was great about it, saying there was a mix up with paperwork and sorted us out no problem. 

As for the hotel itself, it was a decent base in a good area, having spacious rooms with good air con. The only drawback was the maid service (or lack of it). We only had the towels and beds changed once in the week and the floor was never cleaned, even before we got there. This could have been because we caught them on their bank holiday weekend, but was not acceptable having to go begging for clean towels. That apart The Damon is a good place to base yourselves with plenty of sun loungers and mostly friendly and helpful staff, Sofia at reception got us a few quid knocked off car hire which was £99 for a soft top 4x4 for 3 days including tank of fuel. 

As for the resort, it was bigger than we expected being spread out over a few areas consisting of Tomb of the Kings road (where Damon is), the Harbour (with bar street), which is great for boat trips, fishing, watersports and the mosaics and fort, the old town for shopping and market and the waterpark area with karting, bars and reataurants nearby. The whole resort has plenty to see and do,and around the Damon hotel are some decent bars and restaurants, the best being Sissyfos rooftop (£7.95 for 3 courses of excellent quality) and as other people have said Fat Mama's where steaks are fantastic and portions are far too big, still haven't worked out whether this is good or bad! Outback, O'Neills Charlies' and Tramps all decent places to snack and have a drink. Phuket Thai too expensive for average quality of food but you do get money off vouchers for waterpark which by the way is very good. 

All in all a great holiday with a family wedding thrown in, would definitely visit Paphos again but not sure about Damon. Sorry review is so long but as it is firstone of 2007 hope people have been put in the picture.

My/Our Holiday Opinion: 

Paphos as a resort is excellent - the old harbour area lots to do and see, good restaurants, bars etc. The Tomb of the Kings road where Damon Apartments are situated has also a wide range of shops, bars and restaurants. (Only 20 minute stroll to old harbour area or £4 in taxi) all local taxi runs are 4 cyprus pounds.
Remember the Market every day in old Paphos town, 20 minute stroll from Damon or 4 pound in taxi - everything there.

Damon apartments - bit dated - 20 years old - basic. on arrival shower was broken - it took 36 hours and 3 attempts to fix. The bedroom floor was dirty hairs from previous occupant - maid had just finished cleaning on our arrival - hence this didn't leave good impression. The apartments can be noisy at night from neighbouring pubs with karaoke etc.

Damon is very basic - echoes from the corridors and door, the towels aren't very good quality - but I suppose with what you pay is what you get. The sister comples Kefalos Beach Resort across the road and 5 minutes shortcut past the Queen Vic pub - everything there is great. Car Hire - cheaspest and best is Michaels Car Hire near Tramps pub - 4x4 for 3 days only 62.00, TRAMPS is great for fully cooked breakfast - the full works for 2.45 and as much free coffee and tea as you like, owner and his sons are from Paphos and very friendly and helpful.
Cyprus is excellent - Pahos very good and good selection some things expensive some cheap all in all reasonable - they start with the EURO early next year. best to exchange your money there as you get 82p to our pound across from TRAMPS and 83p to our pound down in the harbour this compares with only 81p back home.
Weather excellent end of may 25-27c everyday, they also have a holiday weekend on the last weekend in may each year with festivals etc down in harbour - lovel time to go.

Flights with Flyglobespan are excellent - loads of leg room, one of best flights we have had - better than mytravel etc.

ENJOY Paphos - Damon is tired...

The Damon Hotel and Apartments - all in all is a good hotel, staff are friendly and helpful except for the old guy on nights!! but the manager is very good. The maids came daily except Wed's & Sundays, but if you leave your towels in the bath they will change them, daily. As in other posts i found they didn't clean the floor properly as it was a quick once over with the mop, but otherwise very good and not over-priced either, local beers (Keo) being only £1.40 for a pint. Plently of sunbeds and swimming pool not over crowded. No massive noise either from other people staying at the apartment.

Watch out though make sure you have a room with a proper air conditioning unit with is attached to the wall not inbeded into the wall, as they are rubbish they trickle warm air out. I firstly stayed in a room which was above the reception with the "air conditioning" unit was inside the wall and i asked to be moved, and to be fair that wasn't a problem.

The location is good with numerous resturants and bars around ( the best being Sissyfos & Fat Mama's and the Outback Bar i found was very good, staff a very friendly and do anything to help you out. Also Bar Street is only a couple minute's taxi away (no more than £4) where i found the rainbow club and bubbles to be the better places to go

well me and my wife and daughter have been to cyprus 3 years on the bounce now and i must say that our first stay was to a wedding on the other side of the island and it was not by far as good as pahos.

We have stayed at the damon 2 years now and would go back any time as the bar and reception staff were lovely we made great freinds with peboo(one of the bar staff)and our old mate at reception (we cant remember his name - but he did the late shift) the rooms were basic but nice to stay in and were fitted with air conditioning which was free!!

the pool and pool area was cleaned every morning and you could get a beer from the bar for a resonable price.

if your thinking of going to the damon i would definatly recomend you go to the outback just over the road the best breakfast we had the island, great drinks, and brilliant bar staff ( bob and john ) also take a vist to FAT MAMAS it has got to be the best resturante we went to while staying their the meals are HUGE! and again great staff and entertainment!!

their was only one problem with our stay at the damon which was the damon supermarket (if you leave somthing by the pool it will be in the shop the next day) ha ha ... but apart from that we had a great holiday and would recomend it to anyone!

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

Well, where do I start?!  The Damon was absolutly fantastic! Staff were great and Pebo from the pool bar was lovely too.  We were over there as my sister was getting married at the Elysium Hotel, so in total there were about 14 of us staying at the damon. Plenty on sunbeds and the snacks were lovely by the pool bar, although I wouldnt really recomend the breakfast at the Damon really,...but, each to their own I suppose.  Once Id found "Tea for Two" just out on the main road, I would be in there every morning for breakfast. Its small but lovely, and always busy in the mornings. 

A Must for a good entertaing meal is at "Fat Mamas" where again its always busy and most night a queue to get in. But its deffinatly worth while getting a drink at the bar and waiting for 10 mins for a table. Portions are HUGE!!,....so unless you really really really have an appitite, Id suggest you just order a main and maybe a dessert.  Once id finished my starter of Brucshetta, I had 2 bites of my main pasta and I had to give up. I felt really guilty for leaving it all!    O'neills over the road is good craic and being part of a large Irish Family, this is where we would all meet before hitting Bar Street!  Karaoke Bar was fantastic.  Had a lovely Mexican just round the corner from the Damon on the last night.

Coral Beech was lovely, Lots of watersports to try out.   I would deffinatly return to the Damon. Beware of the very dodgy supermarket though! Scandalous prices, and LOTS of 2nd hand things. I think I even bought the exact same magazine twice. Dont leave anything by the pool, or you might have to buy it back! haha

My/Our Holiday Opinion: 

We've just returned after a 3 week stay at the Damon and it was by far the best holiday we've had.
The appartments were clean and spacious, and the air-conditioning was essential (temperatures hit the mid 50's in our 2nd week).
The only problem we had with accomodation was the ants, and I don't mean the odd 1 or 2, it wasn't unusual to find a stream of 20 or more trekking around the bathroom and they reappeared as fast as we could kill them. I'm told this is very common in Cyprus at this time of year - others staying in different hotels and appartments were also having problems with them.

People staying at the Damon have full use of the facilities at their sister hotel - the Kefalos Beach Village - which is only a 5 minute walk away, and that's where we spent most of our time as there were more daytime activities going on there than at the Damon. (In fact the waiters pulled our legs often, saying "ah, you only sleep at the Damon !")
The entertainment team (Leighton, Mel, Jo, Kat & Kaylea) we're absolutely fantastic and it was them that made the holiday such an unforgettable one. My kids bawled their eyes out at the airport on the way home at the prospect of not seeing them again.

Food and drink in the restaurants was expensive (equivalent to £1.20 GBP for a small Coke is not uncommon), however a lunchtime meal at the Kefalos was cheap and that's where we ate from the 2nd week onwards.
Supermarkets vary a lot in prices, the Damon supermarket wasn't cheap - turn right out of the hotel and walk 5 minutes up the hill, there's a significantly cheaper supermarket there !
Car hire is reasonable (we payed £14/day) and a drive into the Troodos Mountains is well worth while.

We'd definitely go back, and since the Damon is significantly cheaper than the Kefalos we'd do the same thing again (ie stay in the Damon but spend the day down at the Kefalos), but we want to find out where Leighton and Mel will be running the entertainment next year first !

My/Our Holiday Opinion: 

We travel to Paphos, Cyprus every year, but this was our first time staying at the Damon. 

It seemed very good, if average, until one of our party had an accident a few days into our holiday, at that point they could not have done enough for us.  The staff helped immediately at the accident, and seemed genuinely concerned, they called for an ambulance, and upon returning to the hotel, they showed genuine empathy for our well being. They also arranged to change our 2nd floor apartment to a ground floor without being asked, to make things easier for our injured companion (as she was on crutches by now), and every time they saw us from there in, they made enquiries about her.  The staff were wonderful, very polite and pleasant, the hotel is situated in a prime spot for easy access to all the major attractions of the area, and on the main bus route to others. 

The accommodations are very good, and well maintained.  The entertainment is a little lacking but to be honest there is that much around the hotel, you probably won't use it anyway.  We know the area really well, due to previous visits and 3 separate parties from our family have stayed in the Damon in recent years, and we have all been very impressed. 

I would recommend this hotel to anyone, and I will be looking to stay there next year for my honeymoon.  Excellent places to eat are Tea for Two, just around the corner from the hotel, Kings Aphrodite, they do a very good cypriot night and is also close by.  Chloe's and the Phuket for oriental cuisine.  A great and relaxing bar to drink at is, the Island Blue, the girls were great and very friendly, we left Paphos feeling we had made some really nice friends there. 

When booking tours/trips, try Presige Travel opposite the Youkousa Japanese restaraunt, they were fantastic at sorting out one of our trips that we were unable to attend due to the accident, and also arranged a large refund, with no fuss. 

Whilst were were there, the 3rd Paphos Beer Festival was on at the harbour front, this is a really great 3 night event, and is also attended by ex-pats and locals as well as tourists, we had a great time.  Get talking to the locals, as you will find out all sorts of things going on in Paphos, not just the local tourist traps.  A locals useful tip though: always agree a taxi price before getting in a cab, not that they will rip you off, but it saves confusion later. 

I have always been impressed by the Cypriot people and I am even more so after this trip.  If you get the chance to go, do so, I'm sure you won't regret it.

The Damon apartments were a great base to get around Paphos and the rest of Cyprus. The staff were very helpful and the pool was although quite small very clean and warm. The fitness room was very basic but an advantage at the Damon is you can use the facilities at the Kefalos Beach Hotel which is 10 mins walk away, with a huge pool and great gym and indoor pool.
 
The apartment was spacious with a large balcony which although looked over the road was quiet at night. The room was basic and could do with some TLC but was clean and had everything that was needed.

The hotel is situated on the Tomb of the Kings Road where there are numerous very good resturants and bars and a large supermarket which sells everything yoe need (much cheaper than the mini markets). A short bus ride or a 20 minute walk takes you to the harbour and beach front where there are shops, resturants, bars and clubs.
The car hire is very cheap and the locals are very tolerant of tourists in cars. We went on a trip into the mountains off-road in a Jeep which was fun but I think it would have been cheaper and more flexible if we'd have done it ourselves.

There is loads to do and I would return to Paphos and the Damon apartments.

We arrived in the early hours of the morning and got a taxi no problem just outside the airport - it cost about £25 sterling.  We were on the second floor and were left to haul our bags up the stairs, which were a bit steep.  We had a one bedroom apartment which was spacious but a bit dated and grubby - the floor especially.  It had everything we needed apart from any sponges or scourers to do the dishes.  The balcony was also a tad too small.  We used the pool at Kefalos which was great, they also had entertainment for kids and adults at 2pm every day.  The pool at Damon was fine and there were plenty of loungers but if you're looking for something a bit more peaceful then take the short walk to Kefalos.  The Damon supermarket is best avoided with their second hand magazines - one mysteriously disappeared from my room (the maid must have thought it was for the bin) and reappeared at the shop - and their second hand sun tan lotion. 

We went to the waterpark in Paphos but it was disappointing, especially for the price - it was just under £20 sterling for an adult.  It boasts 30 attractions but realistically there's only about 10 or 12 that were decent.  The family water rafting is hugely disappointing.  The one in Limassol is supposed to be much better.

We used the bus service a few times - it was 80 cents and very efficient.  We visited Coral Bay beach and the Harbour, which were both clean with lots of pubs and restaurants. 
The food is fantastic, not like the usual tourist rubbish in others - Sisyfos (3 courses for £10 sterling) and the Mexican opposite Outback pub (can't remember the name but it was the best Mexican I've ever had!) are highly recommended.  Best pubs are Outback and Pitstop - great service and reasonable prices.

The resort as a whole was great - nice and relaxing with not as many tourist traps as more built up places.

This was our first time to Cyprus. accomodation was basic but was very clean.
Plenty of sunbeds for everyone, poolside bar was not expensive, light snacks were most enjoyable, with  very friendly staff. Would recommend the hire of a scooter, average cost of £12 cypriot pounds per day.

Enjoyed meal at Fat Mamas, but meal at Raffles was devine. Only down fall was guy on scooter stoping you with scratch cards and telling you that you have just won a fantasic prize. Next thing you know you are whisked off in a taxi to collect your prize. There is no prize but a 90 minuite chat with people trying to sell you timeshare holidays .

Supermarket up the street from appartments was excellent, small supermarket on site was more expensive. would deffinately return to cyprus and would stay again at this appartments.

My boyfriend and I had never been to Cyprus before we had heard several good reports about Paphos so we thought we'd give it a try.  We were not disappointed and we have already decided that we would like to go again some time.  

The accomodation is just off the Tomb of the Kings Road which has quite a few bars and restaurants situated on it.  About a 10-15 minute walk away is the harbour which is mainly restuartants with a few barsand Bar Street which may suit the younger visitors as there is people trying to get you to go into every bar which wasn't really us. We recommend the Outback pub, the Pit Stop Bar and the Prince of Wales pub and the Martelli restuarant and Fat Mama's which are all on the Tomb of the Kings Road, there is also a nice Mexican place there but i can't remember the name of it, you won't be able to miss it.  

We went at the beginning of June and it was hot but not too hot but according to the manager of the Outback bar the heat then was nothing as they had just had a heatwave in May and the back end of June is when it gets really hot. you can hire a car via the holiday rep but we recommend that you get it for more than 1 day as it is cheaper the longer you have it.  our room was quite big which also had a balcony.  the maid seems to come everyday to empty your bins but she only comes 5 times a week to make up the bed etc. the pool isnt the biggest so you have to get down early or you can use the Kefolos Beach pool if you wish.  we weren't to keen on service at the pool bar, but it was busy so.  

i think that when we decide to revisit paphos we would stay at the Damon Appartments again.

We stayed at the Damon Apartments in March 06. The Apartment was fine Staff very helpful and location central.
Cyprus is very quiet in March We enjoyed the week relaxing and got sun almost every day. You could lie by the pool in the morning, but it got cooler but still pleasant in the afternoon. The evenings were cold. There was no entertainment in the resort at all. We went out for dinner in the evening and back to the Damon at 11 or 12. The beach were poor but it was not hot enough to lie there. The water was freezing as was the pool.

We rired a car from Horizon which was fine. Dealing with english staff made the transaction  easy. We had a Mitsubishi carisma. This was grand on the main roads but I would advise a bigger car for the mountains even for the main roads. We only went up as far as Fyti a height of 600 less than half as high as the top and the car was in second and first gear. i think there might be a better way but we did not leave a main road.

We went to Nicosia and over to the Turkish side. You cant take the car over because it is not covered by ins. This side is very different from the southern side which is very modern and like a European city. It is very hard to get information about the Turkish north probably because the Greek Cypriots do not want tourists going over there, even the reps dont know. They try to sell their tour which is fairly new. The border was closed or very restricted until recently. I was under the impression that we had to be back over the border by 5pm, but a taxi driver on the Turkish side said this was no longer so and that you can get a pass lasting days or weeks now. I dont know how you would find out as the border passport control people did not speak English. Later I emailed the northern tourist information and got no reply. Your passport is not stamped. They stamp a piece of paper with visa written on it which you sign. You must show this on the way back

We went to Aya Napa which Im sure would be nice in summer but was deserted when we were there, only one hotel and a few resturants open.
Limasol looked the most lively but we were ther during the day.

Overall enjoyed the trip, but would not count Cyprus as a winter destination. The Canarias are livelier and hotter

Right from the arrival at the damon apartments we were made to feel very welcome n the staff were very helpful and polite all the way through. We had bed & breakfast. Food was ok, sausage & bacon is not quite what us brits are used to.

there are plenty of restaurant come bars on the main road that offer plenty of varieties in their menus.

Bar street is a 10 - 15 min walk away for the livlier scene, a bit further down the road is the harbour where there are plenty of quieter restaurants and cafe's.

Not much of sandy beaches around paphos, so a cheap bus journey gets you to coral bay with fab golden sands and crystal clear waters

The rep at the aprtments for my travel was superb, went on 2 excursions, the wave dancer (boat trip around west coast, with chnace to jump in n cool off)and the north uncovered to see the more modern side to the island. One great night was the reps caboriet, great musical performance wit music for every generation, was a really good laugh with good food on the buffet! Already booked for later in the season

My/Our Holiday Opinion: 

This was our sixth visit to the Damon Hotel Apartments and we think it is an ideal base for a self-catering holiday.

The rooms are cleaned regulary and towels and linen are changed frequently.

Staff at the Damon are very friendly and helpful. The pool area at the Damon is a bit on the small side, I would imagine the area would be very crowded at peak season. The best thing we found to do was to use the facilities at the Kefalos Beach Village which is a 5 min walk away and has a much larger pool area and plenty of sunbeds, also the evening buffet at the Kefalos is of an excellent standard and is good value for money.

The Damon has its own supermarket on site but the staff are a bit scary and they sell a lot of second hand stuff from around the pool. The best supermarket is orphanides which is out of the apartments turn right and about 50m up the road.

The Damon is close to a wide selection of bars and restaurants. The best restaurants we found were Fat Mama's and Sisyfos roof top restaurant, for something more simple Moulia's and Tea for Two. The best bar we found was Thomas Jungle where you will always receive a friendly welcome from the owner Thomas and barman Azad.

All in all we find the Damon good value for money and have already booked to go again next year!.

Just come back from the Damon yesterday. Pretty much as everyone says. Good location, clean rooms. Mainly very good staff. pool and patios too small when the hotel is full.we were allocated a small ground floor, main road room when we asked for high floor, quiet room as we were there for three weeks. spoke to the manager and were moved to a bigger room with pool view.shop at Orpho`s supermarket, much cheaper.no really nice restaurants around. the best three we have found in numerous visits are

Angelos bar and tavern, owner serves and wife cooks, just before the Alexander the Great hotel in Paphos(12 Othellos St. phone 26937890)if you see Pavarotti`s youre on the right path we saw this one in a magazine but were a bit doubtful, but food was lovely and its not your usual everything with chips and cauli, but leave room for a sweet as the Cypriot trifle is to die for!

On the next street out- Klious St, is Ano Kato, if you want to try the meze dishes bit by bit here you can get a menu where for 35p per dish you can mix and match. lovely food, and the main courses are really reasonably priced, especially the fish. but be warned, it will come with the head and tail still attatched, something which used to horrify me, but I have got used to it and if you ask, your waiter will show you how to take the backbone out in one piece, a la cartoon style.

And finally, Seven St Georges Tavern. we stumbled across it and called in one night. the waiter asked if we had booked but when we said we hadn`t they managed to squeeze us in, on a lovely little quiet table near the door. They serve their own organic wine, olive oil, veg and everything else. you can have whatever they have picked from the garden at the back that day, but I think we were lucky to get in without reserving. But, phone, you will love it ,they are closed Mondays, 26963176. (website- 7stgeorgestavern  com ) Its a bit difficult to find but well worth it. If you know where Begonia`s garden center is on the tombs of the kings road, go past there, so its on your left, along to the roundabout, turn left, then up to the first set of traffic lights and turn right and then the roadforks straight away. take the left hand one and you`ll go past a few shops and houses. its on the right. its got no big neon sighns on the outside to attract the passing trade, it doesn`t need it. The second best restaurant in the area, I`m not telling where the best is!!!

This was a second holiday to Paphos, this time accompanied by Betty & John. Although we were there in late Sept., it was very very hot. The hotel was very comfortable with all the amenities we required. The pool was well looked after, and we noted that sunbed-claiming was discouraged. There was, as far as we were concerned, plenty of beds to go round.

Breakfast was very good value and well presented, as was everything else within the hotel. The poolside bar was excellent and was not too expensive.

There were plenty of excellent restaurants round about. We were delighted with the standard of food and price in the Sisyfos, Riga's & Jackie Ma's. There was always a queue at Mama Mia's, so we didn't bother trying there. We went down to the harbour where there are some wonderful fish food restaurants.

All-in-all, Paphos is a delightful place to go and I'm sure we will return there to holiday again.

Well, what do I say apart from thank god that you are allowed to use the Kefalos Beach Village.  

The apartment we stayed in was of a good standard (apart from the beds being like rock and the baby's cot had one side hanging down and had the mattress in a v shape that wouldn't stay horizontal) and were kept very clean by the maids who did a wonderful job, couldn't fault them. 

The facilites however are less than up to standard.  The pool is old fashioned and very small, there is no room to move round the pool as the sunbeds are packed in, the baby pool (if you can call it that) was just over 1 metre square and with the old fashioned square edges wasn't very safe for our 15 month old son.  We were put in a 1st floor apartment (we had requested ground floor with the baby) which resulted in us having to lift the pram up two flights of stairs every day as there was no lift, by the time a ground floor apart was ready we couldn't then be bothered with packing and moving everything so it was pointless.  

The staff at the pool bar were miserable and didn't crack a smile, the entertainment was boring and not worth sticking around for.  The Kefalos beach was a godsend, the pool, staff, facilites, games and entertainment were excellent.  We found out at the end of our hol that some guests at the Damon had complained it was inadequate and they were moved to the Kefalos so theres a tip for anyone bound for the Damon!!!  

The resort is fantastic, the tomb of the kings road is good but you get fed up after a few nights, a visit to fat mamas restaurant is a must for great food - huge portions!! and entertainment, max williams - under 3's eat free! Prince of Wales pub good atmosphere and entertainment.  The harbour is great but expensive, the area further up from the harbour towards Kato Paphos is good, try the New Delhi if you fancy indian food and Manhattan for a good steak.  Bar Street is not to be missed!! This is the third time we have visited Paphos and we like the resort, just a shame we stopped at the Damon.  PS - visit Coral Bay for a sandy beach!

First time in Cyprus enjoyed every minute even the climb to the top floor apartment!.

Damon is a well kept establishment pool a bit on the small side,plenty of sunloungers available.Poolside bar reasonable.Lot's of great places to eat in the resort but you need to hire a car to really appreciate it,tavernas in the hills and surrounding areas great value for money.Greay days out to be had at The Adonis Falls,Aphrodite Baths and if your body can stomach the road Lara beach where turtles lay their eggs in the sand and you can actually walk into the sea to swim without crippling yourself on rocks and stones like on most of the beaches around Pafos.Also did the 3 day cruise to Egypt the pyramids, museum etc fantastic 3 days and the tour guide really knew his stuff really recommend that trip remember the sea sick tablets before you go though!about £300 for 2 people.

Damon apartments were good value for money & in a prime location. We had 1 bedroom apt with a huge balcony! Maids were in most days, & kept it clean. Tho having been at a 4* in Ayia Napa Oct05, they definitely weren't in the same class (our tour operater sold Damon apts as 4*)Staff were very friendly & helpful.Close to loads of excellent eating places & handy to both the Harbour area & Coral Bay.

Bus journeys only 70 cents, though if there are 4 or more of you travelling, it's just as cheap to get a taxi.
Ate in Phuket, which is right beside the Damon Apts, Casa Mexicana & found a great Indian restaurant Prema, with really friendly owners. The Outback was good craic, but by the end of the 1st week I was getting a bit fed up with listening to the karaoke coming from it every night(our apt looked over it)

Also the traffic going past from 6am to way past 3am was noisy, even though the patio doors blocked out a good lot. Damon supermarket staff were not the friendliest. They followed customers round the shop, as if they were going to shoplift, & other reviews are right, they sell loads of used items. I walked the extra quarter mile down the road to use the other supermarket, where staff are much friendlier & trusting.

The beaches in Paphos were disappointing. Sand is like builders yard sand & there are rocks stretching 20 feet or so into the water before you can actually swim!! After travelling to Ayia Napa for the day, it made me realise that there was NO comparison. If you're a beach lover (like me) Paphos is not the place to go.

If hiring a car, double check prices before you sign up. I was given a price of 27 pds per day, then when I went back to pay, the lady added tax & petrol on top. Can't remember the name of the Property/Car rental Co but wouldn't recommend them. On main road opposite waste land beside KFC type restaurant. You know who you are!! Paid deposit on a Citroen Convertible, to pick up the next day, then got a phone call 20 mins before they were due to close to say the car had mechanical probs, & was offered a jeep instead. Following night drove into the carpark of the Damon Apts & there Citroen was!! Obviously they'd hired it to someone wanting it for longer. 

It may not seem like it, but I did on the whole enjoy Paphos, especially the food, but if I were to go back to Cyprus again, I'd stick to the East coast.

After having worked in Cyprus for many years I had the advantage of knowing the hotels/apartments on offer; which is we chose the Damon Apartments on The Tomb of The Kings Road.

The staff here are fantastic.  The service is very good, pool great, bar great, breakfast great value for money and the safety deposit boxes are good value for money!! 

There are plenty of places to stay in paphos and Coral Bay, but the reason we always like coming here is because you always feel at home.  the welcoming atmosphere is great and you can completly chill out for the duration of your holiday.

I personnaly prefer the Outback (Aussie bar) across the road. The staff here are Australian/Cypriot, they have great manners and know how to keep people entertained and happy throughout their holiday.  The food is very good and it is family run, so service is 100%. 
There are plenty of restaurants, bars and clubs in Paphos, but if you want traditional - then opt for Meze!!  You do need to try on holidays; not just egg and chips or steak all the time.  That is why we go on holiday; to explore and discover new cultures and tastes!!

Paphos is a friendly, welcoming area to stay in.  The people are fab and know how to treat the Brits.....

Paphos is not as built up as Benidorm, Tenerife, Canary Islands, etc, but it does have character....  You know what your getting when you go there... that is a great holiday for all.  You may find that buildings are incomplete, but if people were to go online and look at places first, they would discover that they do not always finish buildings due to building tax and funds!!  It is a traditional island with great culture.  I am not sure if people do want to go on holiday for big buildings or shopping they can do in the UK,    You should only really be going on holiday to these places if you are prepared to join their lifestyle.....  When you do go you will see what I mean..... enjoy your holiday it is a wonderful country, which one day I will go back to full time!!!!

I really enjoyed our two week stay in the Cypurs..

The Damon Appartments were really nice. They are a good size, clean and comfortable, and the staff are really helpful and friendly. The pool is clean, yet slighty small and a little too warm at times.

During your stay, it is definately worth visiting the Kefalos Hotel (the sister hotel). It backs onto the beach, has a good size pool and plenty to do during the day. Also note: The indoor pool is ICE cold.

For a good night out, we preffered the Outback (an aussie-themed pub). It has really good entertainment and the staff are nice and friendly. Barstreet is also a good choice for a lively night out, with plenty of disco's playing the best music.

For Greek food, i reccommend King Zorba's and Sisyfos. But if you just want a good english meal, you can't fault Pizza Hut, and the Fish & Chips Restaurant (just down from the Damon Supermarket).

Altogether, I really enjoyed our holiday and would go again.

Paphos is very nice but it is a bit pushchair unfriendly as the paths are uneven, non exisistent, or have cars parked on them.  We stayed at the Damon apartments on the tomb of kings road.  We were surprised to only see two road accidents in our fortnight.  This road is lethal and you must look after young children.
We ate at 'Tea for Two' as it was excellent value for money with plenty of choice and a nice cup of tea. Fish and chips were nicer here than the fish shop down the road (Moulia's , I think it was called).  Fat Mammas is exceptional too! Max Williams opposite 'Tea for Two' did a nice Sunday lunch.  We went up to Latchi towards Polis and found lovely beaches up there where you could swim away from the crowds in Coral bay,  The sea was calmer and excellent for snorkelling.

As for the Damon, the pool was over crowded, sunbeds were reserved with towels and lilos, dinghys etc. littered the pool.  I feel we were ripped off having being charged 20 cypriot pounds for a safety box,  there was no refund at the end of the holiday. Avoid their supermarket which is full of secondhand over priced goods. Use the one to the right up the hill outside the entrance to the Damon. All in all we enjoyed our stay but it wasn't a place to take a young child.  Happy Holidays!

Damon Apts were very good , clean and spacious with Air Con. 

Staff were all very helpful and friendly .Pool is a bit on the small side and can be a bit overcrowded, but again clean. Pool Bar was excellent value and the staff here who appeared to be mostly English hotel management students were very friendly and efficient. Only down side was the Sunday night Karaoke ,listening to all your old favourites being absolutely murdered to 1am in the morning slap bang in the middle of the residential block was a bit trying. We walked down to the Kefalos beach every day , nice breeze and fantastic facilities , again very friendly staff. Beach is poor but if you walk up to The Elysium hotel next door they have cleared the rocks out of a small bay and put in a breakwater , very pleasant .other wise try Coral Bay by bus.

Paphos itself is a bit spread out , meaning a taxi or bus trip unless you felt energetic, buses are the same everywhere none for 40 minutes and then 3 at once, they were mostly well airconditioned , most taxis didnt use the  meter which always makes you suspicious especially when they pull up at the bus stop and start to bargain for prices to take you to your destination.

Restaurants - Tea for 2 is excellent for breakfast and try their other branch beside M&S in the old town for a fantastic view of the resort, Sisyfos was excellent value , especially their set menu,Fat Mamas is excellent a little more expensive than the rest but be warned you'd better be hungry the portions are massive, Chloes Chinese just up from the harbour is excellent, and the Outback was great for good decent food and had a very friendly staff.
There is an excellent supermarket (Orphanides) turn right as you come out of the front of the apartments and it s a couple of blocks up , above the New York Apts. excellent variety , lots of familiar products and good prices.The best use of the Damon supermarket is as a pathway to the main road!

We stayed for two weeks at the Damon Hotel and Apartments, and had a lovely 2 bed studio overlooking the pool. The accommodation was very clean and comfortable. The best aspect of the Damon is its location - situated perfectly between the beach, the harbour, the main town, and Coral Bay.

Despite reading the poor reviews of the breakfast on here, we booked in advance to have it anyway (for only £1.50 a morning, it's a bargain). Not only is there bacon, sausages, scrambled and boiled eggs, and beans, but also fresh rolls and bread, cereal, cheese, meats, and yoghurt. There was also fresh Orange Juice. The quality of the food and the convenience of having breakfast on site (any time between 7.30 - 10.00) easily justifies the price.

In the evening, there is a Happy Hour at the pool bar between 7.00 and 8.00, where all cocktails are half price (about £1 in English terms). My partner and I managed to try most of the 16 or so on the menu! Would definitely recommend the Brandy Sour or Ouzo Special for anyone looking to taste the local tipple.

We've given Paphos a 'good' rating for a few reasons. Firstly, it is not predonimently a beach resort: there are a few beaches, but too stoney or rocky to go into the sea. The beach at Coral Bay is better, but gets very crowded, and is a 20 minute bus ride away. Paphos is also quite expensive in comparison with other foreign holiday destinations. Anyone staying at the Damon will do well to avoid the on site supermarket in favour of the larger one, found by turning right out of the hotel and walking 100 yards or so. This supermarket is a Cypriot equivalent of Tesco, and the prices are considerably lower than elsewhere in Paphos.

In terms of eating out, we would recommend a few restaurants. Zorba's Tavern is a traditional cypriot restaurant and although quite quiet, serves some delicious home-cooked food and a great Mezé. The Sisyfos rooftop restaurant is great for the views, and also has a good set menu with lots of variety (and the dessert trolley at the end is wheeled around with a bell!). Probably the best value restaurant was the San Marino. This restaurant has three different set menus, all at different prices, and all with good value food (both traditional cypriot and international). The staff were very friendly and always offered a drink on the house at the end. We also ate at the Phuket Chinese and Thai restaurant, and although a bit pricey, the food is lovely and the bridge over the fish on the way in is a spectacle in itself!

On the whole, we enjoyed our time in Cyprus, and although we probably won't be returning anytime soon, we'd definitely stay at the Damon Apartments if we did!

We had a great time at the Damon Apartments.  Upon arrival the staff were very friendly and the apartment was very spacious and air conditioned.  We thought the apartments were in a good location too.  We went to the Phuket restaurant next door and loved it.  Also go to Tea for Two for lunch or english breakfast, very cheap and lovely.

If planning to go to the waterpark go to the Phuket restaurant first as they give you money off vouchers with your bill.

Happy hour at the apartments every night was good and Outback is good for cocktails.

We returned from Cyprus on Monday this week, after having a very relaxing holiday.

This was our first visit to Cyprus + probably wouldn't have chosen it as a holiday destination, but my sister got married there (St. George's hotel)so that decision was made for us!

On arrival at the Damon Apartments, we were impressed as they looked recently built. We got a taxi from the airport which cost £17.

Checking-in was very easy + the staff at reception were helpful and welcoming. We chose to get a safety deposit box (a baragin at under £5!)but having read other reviews on here, we declined the breakfast offer - something like £1.50 each day.

Our apartment was over-looking some waste land at the back of the hotel - but wasn't too bad, as there were flowers etc. down there. The apartment was modern + very clean. (They were cleaned + towells changed 5 out of 7 days). There was everything you could need in the kitchen, from the usual crockery - to corkscrews + ice cube trays).

The air-conditioning was fantastic - after not having any last year, we really appreciated it! There were seperate units in the bedroom + kitchen. The plugs in the apartments were the same as in England, so there was no need to take an adaptor.

The swimming pool was lovely + I would recommend staying around the pool, as the beach/sea was stoney + not very sandy. - After the wedding, we used the facilities at St. Georges Hotel and the beach there (coral bay) was much nicer.

The pool bar at the Damon was good value for money - offering a wide range of cocktails - for £1.50 and lots of food to snack on. (eg, pizza + chips, salad).

We were not overly impressed by Paphos - perhaps because we have been to more built-up resorts previously. There was one main strip by the hotel (Tombs of Kings road, the harbour + the old town.

Despite there not being many shops in Paphos, there were loads of fantastic places to eat + drink! Our favourites were: The Outback (an aussie-themed bar - great cocktails with sparklers in!) El Mexicana, Prima Indian, Mr. Lieu Chinese, Raffles, The prince of Wales pub, O'Neils, Sisyfos (a roof-top restuarant) + The Pelican at the harbour - they have a real pelican that comes out to see everyone!!

There were a few night-clubs around, but were always closed - perhaps it was out of season?

One warning - The staff at the Phuket Thai/chinese (joined on the the hotel) were veru rude!! They would not let us order what food we wanted, claiming that we had already ordered enough! (we only had a starter + main course each!!)

The Damon supermarket was exactly as described on here - second hand sun-tan lotion, from random places like the Body Shop + Avon! the magazines and books were dog-eared + was obvious they had been taken from the bins at the side of the swimming pool! The person who worked there took naps each day, on a sun lounger next to the childrens play-ground!

We took a half-day cruise around Pathos, which was great value for money (only £14 if booked at the harbour) which included lunch + gives you chance to swim for an hour in the sea - very refreshing!! The 'captain' of the boat - Victor, was very funny + made everyone join in singing whilst he played his guitar!!

We visited the Mosaics at the harbour (£1.50) + the Tombs of the Kings. Both were very interesting, but was too hot to look around properly was there was no shade!

There are plenty of taxis everywhere (about £4 to the harbour or coral bay) + the bus is only 70 cents - they are frequent and easy to use.

Overall, Paphos is a nice resort - the weather was in the 30's every day, but we have been spoilt in the past with holidays to Tenerife + other very built-up resorts.
It would not be a good place to take kids to, as there would not be much to keep them entertained. We found it very expensive - often more so than prices in England.

There was building work every where - My 'other-half' joked that there was a JCB every where you looked! The main business in Paphos was real-estate, building sites + car rental.

We would probably return to Pahos in about 20 years - when everything has been developed properly, but if for any reason we ended up there in the near future (another wedding perhaps?) we would definately stay at the Damon Hotel Apartments!

Went to Cyprus for a wedding, in June 2005, was very very hot, nice weather. Apartments were nice and clean and had all the amenities you need..... Pool was big enough and there are always enough sun loungers........

BUT,

Do NOT go to cyprus if you are:
a) Skint - its way more expensive than Britain and eating out its sometimes very expensive

b) You like the Beach - there is a beach which is a bus ride away - a bit annoying if you wanna swim in the sea

c) You hate Building sites - Every street has some kind of building work goign on and the whole place is covered with estate agents.

Saying this in 20 years time This resort will be quite nice, but I think I will skick to tenrife next year, a lot nicer and also cheaper!!

My/Our Holiday Opinion: 

Phaphos in Cyprus is an excellent place to go for first timers to Cyprus, we were last there 12 years ago it has changed but it is much preferable to Aya Napia for obvious reasons that you must have seen on telly. Limmasol is improving, Protarius overrated. 

Anyway there is loads to see in Phaphos, masses of good value restaurants, you must try the mezes in the Cypriot restaurants. The accomodation was great for what we wanted as a base then somewhere to relax and a drink for the start of the evening but don't spend your time hanging about the apartments all the time as there is so much to see and do. 

We went in April loads of wild flowers, masses of birds (twitcher types!) and it is not too crowded or too hot, a cooling breeze all the time, in summer it is a no go as it is too hot even with air con. Hire a car it is cheap then go to Latchi on the west coast and stay a couple of nights, very quite with about 10 tavernas around a harbour and Polis nearby (walkable) is an excellent fairly unspoilt small town. Other things to do include Troodous mountains and Nicosea, drive by hire car, easy they even drive on the left. 

The harbour in Paphos could be nice but is spoilt by expensive prices and annoying people rather like you see on 'Big Brother' trying to sell you Timeshares, they deny it is timeshare but it is, just threaten to report them to the police if they are persistant, if any irritating group of early 'twenty somethings' come up to you gushing "are you English" just keep telling them no thanks and go away, don't even bother to listen to them as it will cost you precious holiday time and money. Enjoy.

This was our first visit to Cyprus, but it certainly won't be our last. Great food, lovely people, excellent weather.

The Damon Apartments are clean and comfortable, if a little basic, but the staff are friendly and helpful. If we had any complaints our balcony overlooked the waste ground and the air conditioning pump was on the roof above our room which was a bit noisy at night. We did have a gas leak which was eventually investigated by the maintenance man with a match (honest). The faulty cooker was replaced without problem.

The apartments are ideally located for the beach, restaurants, the harbour and the old town. The supermarket on site is best avoided. The large one up the road on the right is much cheaper. There are plenty of good restaurants on the Tomb Of The Kings Road and by the harbour. The ones that offer a set meal are good value for money. The Imperial in the harbour is the best for Chinese food. Fat Mama's is relatively expensive, but the food cannot be faulted (watch out for the Chilli Burger - my taste buds still haven't recovered).

Would recommend taking the trip to Egypt. It's expensive but certainly worth it. We booked with Horizon which is just across the road from the Damon. Prices are roughly the same everywhere but they got us an upgraded cabin for no extra.
If you are planning to hire a car we would recommend a 4x4 as some of the roads are a bit rough to say the least. We hired a Jimny from Cybreeze. The car had seen better days but mechanically it was sound and gave us no problems.
Looking forward to going back to Paphos this summer!

we stayed at the damon hotel but you are better off staying at the kefalos hotel which is damons sister hotel just down the road on the beach front. 

After visiting paphos me and my husband decided that we wouldnt visit again, we didnt like the busy roads the mad drivers or the beaches and seas. The sea was very dangerous it was rough and full of sharp slippy rocks, the best beach we visited was Lara bay but that was quite a drive away. 

The restaurants in paphos are very nice and I could reccomend a few, firstly there was the phuket chinese restaurant which is located just at the side of the hotel but the best chinese restaurant that we visited was called chloes which is in the harbour area near bar street. Max williams which is also just down the road is very nice for every meal breakfast dinner and even tea especially the sunday roast on a sunday.

The damon apartments was ok but defenately wouldnt come back the sofa beds were rock hard and not very clean either as me and my husband had to sleep on them whilst the kids shared the bedrooms. The maid service was quite good and on arriving at the the hotel the swimming pool and the apartments looked quite clean but i couldnt see much as it was dark. The shop was disgusting as quite a lot of the stuff was second hand from by the side of the pool. We didnt like the shop staff and wuldnt really reccomend it to anybody.

Ok here goes.  Just arrtived back and wanted to make a few observations.

1. Damon Apartments are OK, they have all the basics you need for a self catering holiday in a studio.

The room was spacious, although could have done with some TLC (a lick of paint).  The bathroom also could do with a good update (broken toilet seat, cracked sink and tiles a bit scabby.

The balcony was very narrow, just enough room for the clothes airer to be set up and a cramped space to sit out for two.

It did have a maid service every few days to change towles and sheets, which is, I guess, what warrants the three star rating.

On arrival we saw people being dropped off at some georgous looking places and felt a bit deflated when we arrived.

Don't be taken in with the breakfast offer that is promoted in reception.  You don't get proper bacon, the sausages are small hot dog sausages and the cereal tastes yuk.

2. Location - by the end of our week, we were glad for the location.  Although the Tomb of Kings Road is very busy (glad I never saw any accidents, as the drivers are mad!!! be careful with young children) we were grateful to be able to step out of the hotel and be surrounded by bars and resaurants.  I noticed a couple of nightclubs also, but never saw anybody go into them.

For some evening exercise we walked into the Harbour area of Phaphos (about 20 minutes) although the buses are regular and well used and only 50 cents.

Some recommendations - Max William's (next to Horizon travel shop) is lovely for breakfast, really clean,well decorated and comfortable.

3. Tour Company - no problems here, the rep was nice, wasn't pushy and there if you needed her.

4. Excursions - the tour company was expensive, but if you are prepared to shop around you can do it cheaper.  There are numerous travel shops all up and down Tomb of Kings Road, go and have a look before you book.  We didn't book any as we were only there for a week, we went independant and hired a car.

5. Car Hire - before you go on you hols, and you have already decided to hire a car, look at easycar.com.  They have been set up in Phaphos since May 2004, the pick up place is just up the road from the hotel.  You must beware that easy car is no frills, you do not get the car dropped off or picked up, it must be returned clean and there is an excess of 75 british pounds.  If you decide to book a car when you get there, to sus out prices, the easycar office now has a internet station for customers to book there and then - you need driving licence (i know but one of us forgot) if you have the card license bring the paper bit, you also need your passport.

Warning - we went to book a car from Horizon, as it was recommended on a previous review - they tried it on with us.  When the car was delivered it was a lower class than we paid for, we went back to complain and the cypriot guy agreed with us until the english women butted in to cover up, needless to say we asked for an immediate refund (which we did get with no problems - must check the bank statement though).  They also said they could fax through to DVLA for the license that one of us was missing, if it did not come back she would leave a note in the car.  Guess what, no message in  the care, when we went back to complain about the car, the women also said that DVLA did not get back to her, therefore one of us would not have covered by the insurance - sounds dodgy to me.

5.  Beaches - non existant, even Coral Bay did not excite us (mind you we come from Cornwall and have great beaches to compare with).

We drove to Agia Nappa one day and the beaches there were great.

6. Best thing - was that the Damon was associated with the Kefalos Beach Village.  This is a new hotel/apartments, clean and spangly new.  To sit under a shade on a bed with the sea breeze was just what you need on a hot day.  There is entertainment there all day for the kids and adults.  If you cannot afford the Kefalos Beach (no idea of the prices as we had a late booking) stay at the Damon and use all the facilites at the Kefalos.

We were very relieved to arrive at the damon apartments, as our booked apartments were pretty nasty.
The Damon was just what we needed. Perfectly located between the harbour and the old town (about 15/20 minute walk to each). The apartments were clean and the staff made us very welcome.
The prices were also very reasonable. They can be found online for bookings.
The weather was fine while we were there, in the 30's with an ever present breeze, which helped.

The beaches are all stoney, so I advise flip-flops and swimming in your apartment pool. You can take a local bus for 50 cents out to Coral Bay for a better beach experience.

We found some really great restaurants while we were there. There is a wonderful Indian restaurant behind the Damon Apartments called Prema. The family are from Manchester and the food is gorgeous. They sent us away with an email address to mail them and a pack of spices with a vegetarian recipe to try. They will be going online soon, so keep an eye out for them.

Turn left out of the apartments and you hit Tomb of the Kings Road. Straight ahead is a great Italian Restaurant called Mama Mia's, a beautifully set table, linen napkins and the the shinniest cutlery you have ever seen. Friendly staff and a very extensive menu will have you returning frequently. Something a bit special!
To your left is Casa Mexicana.If you love Mexican it is not to be missed. You will be made very welcome here too. Try the lemon cream. Heavenly!

The one trip you should not miss is Nic's Village Tour. A small group is taken through the villages around paphos. You start by visiting a cyprus delight factory. You meet the craft workers in their homes, making bamboo baskets and weaving. Relax with a drink in a local taverna, visit old churches, a monastery with a very eccentric monk and listen to many amusing tales along the way about the people, history and surroundings, courtesy of Hilary, an English tour guide who is married to Nic. The trip ends with a home cooked lunch with free flowing local wine, curtesy of the Sioukras Family. A truly delicious way to end the perfect day.

This was our third stay in Paphos in two years. The first two were spent at Kefalos and after a couple of days I wished we had spent the extra few hundred pounds and stayed there again! 

The apartments were clean if a little tired (they we built in 1992, the sign's still there!). This contrasts with Kefalos which, when we first stayed there, was only two years old. We ended up walking the sort distance to Kefalos each day to take advantage of their superior facilities. 

We love this resort as we were got engaged here and subsequently went on honemoon here. Eating out is one of the best things to do. Chloes and and the restaurant adjacent ot Damon both offer great Chinese food. Yes, the harbour restaurants are overpriced but the position and atmosphere more than make up for this. I can highly recommend Theos, good food and excellent service. Also worth a visit as Pizza Express (they have live music) and the fantastic Italian on the corner next to McDonalds (opposite Athos Diamond Centre in the harbour).There are loads of other places to eat (and see) thatr I have noit mnentioned. 

Trust us, this is a great place to holiday. Ooops forgot to mention the weather is great, espcially in October when we all need a bit of sun!

My/Our Holiday Opinion: 

First time we have visited Cyprus.  Paphos has a lot of interesting places to visit ie the Tombs of the Kings was really interesting and cost just 75cents, we went twice! The Mosaics at the World Heritage Site by the lighthouse was also very interesting and cost 1.5 cyp.

Paphos is not a place to visit for beaches!  Even Coral Bay was having sand delivered by lorries.

There was also an excavation going on of an amphitheatre by the University of Sydney which gave guided tours/talk every day at 2pm - it was just like the Time Team!  Just behind the tree with the clothes hanging from it on the main road down to the harbour.

We can recommend the Jeep safari to the Troodos mountans and to the Akhamas forest, booked through Horizon on the Tomb of the Kings road and much cheaper than the Tour operators.  Andrew was our driver on both trips and made the whole day very interesting and informative - also a lovely typical lunch on both days.

We took the day trip to Egypt by air - it was an expensive day 183 cyp each, but a very full day and really enjoyable.  We had to be up by 5am and returned back to the hotel at midnight.

There are lots of places to eat and drink - Phuket next door to the Damon is really, really good.  There are 3 places to eat for 4.95 on the sea front, turn left at the harbour and right at the end they are all together - we went to the first and third ones and they were equally as good.

King Aphrodites Cyprus night is a good visit and the locals go too!

You must visit Thomas Jungle Bar on the Tomb of the Kings Road, the waiter is very entertaining and we were made to feel very welcome.  Karaoke on several nights a week.

The weather was well into the 20's for 2 weeks, with just a couple of very short showers.  Cool in the evening.

my first oppinion was that the hotel was very clean, the cleanest i have ever stayed abroad. the staff were all very friendly. and the appartments spacious.

the entertainment i could say was its only downfall there wasn't any. the keflos beach had entertainment but we never went couldn't be bothered walking back after a couple of drinks. there were lots of restaurants our favourites were san marino great smoked trout and kings aphrodite's. kings aphrodite's had cypriot music and dancing a few nights a week which were brilliant and we noticed a lot of locals used it too must be due to the great food and the brandys which seemed to get larger every time we went in.

the beaches if you could call them that weren't that clean maybe they just haven't cleaned up for the season yet? although we did find a small beach which was lovely we walked down to the harbour and turned left along the road you come to a restaurant on the beach but it is at a higher level than the water if you walk along the sand you come to a small sheltered beach i think it was in front of a hotel as there were deck chairs above it.i think the locals use it as we watched a few groups of old men with there bags filled with cheese fruit and not to forget whatever bottles of spirits or wine walk out onto the rocks and watch the day go by.

the bar man at the hotel who we called smiler for the first week as he didn't, turned out to be realy nice once you got talking to him i felt a bit guilty after that. i guess some people just don't realise the are not smiling.
i think we will be going back to paphos next year the only reson we won't be staying at the damon is because the kids need to be entertained a bit more.

On arrival at the Damon is was pitch black so we didn't really get to see much. check in was quick & efficient, and the staff were friendly. we were allocated our studio, which was in block E, our balcony faced onto the pool. the studio was spotless, and was roomy enough for two. the balcony was a good size, with a table & chairs.it was equipped with a full sized gas cooker, which was great, and it had a fridge wih freezer compartment.

As you step out of the Damon onto the tomb of the kings road, there are bars & eateries to the left & right. All priced about the same, and offering the usual fare. we particulary enjoyed a few meals & drinks at the Outback, which was very welcoming & friendly. Pizza hut was also a god send, with some great deals that you dont get in the uk. (ie: all you can eat pizza for £3.79 cyp) the harbour area is lovely, and is about a 20 mn walk rom the Damon hotel.

A great place for a night out/drinks is "bar st", known as, because of the amount of bars, its about 20 mins walk aswell, and a taxi will cost about £4.00 cyp. there is a taxi office just up to the left on tomb of the kings road, on the left hand side.

following advice on the site here, we didnt give "my travel" the satisfaction of booking our trips, they rip you off. we booked with horizon, which is just across from the Damon entrance. i would recommend the day trip of paphos villages.we got to see the cypriot delight being made, and purchased straight from the factory. and the lunch stop was a lovely village called "latchi".

the entertainment at the Damon is non-existent, bingo etc etc. at £5.00 a game, it was quite expensive. the drinks at the Damon are cheap,and the local brew "keo" was lovely.

guests at the damon, are allowed to use the kefalos beach village, which is 7/8 min walk away. right on the sea front. you will note i said sea, as there isn't much of a beach. they are both under the same ownership. the kefalos beach vilage is gorgeous. the free form pool is to die for, with sunbeds all around. we tended to take our beds to the grass area at the sea. the bar & snack bar are excellent. the apartment blocks look lovely. small clusters of 4 apartments per block. some look directly onto the sea. if i had my choice again, i would have went to the kefalos beach village. it is spotlessly clean and only 2 years old. although the damon was clean and reasonably well kept. you can't beat being right at the sea.we think more efort was made at the kefalos on the entertainment front too.
the shop at the damon is really expensive, but everyday things aren't too bad.

the weather when we were there (end of march for 2 wks) was glorious, altough chilly at night.beware excess baggage charges at paphos airport, they charged us £80 cyp on the way back. and we were not heavily laden i can assure you.
overall, a nice holiday with lovely weather, but if i am to return to paphos, i will be headed to the kefalos beach village.

if you go to the damon you won't be dissapointed, though, the pool is ample and sunbeds are free. good snacks during the day aswell.

you wil enjoy the damon, it's clean, simple and has a good location.
i think the bar man that serves at the in door bar at night could do with a few prozac though, not a smile in 14 days!!!

To be honest, Cyprus wasn't my first choice for a holiday - I had a vague memory of a family member not being very impressed with the island at all and was a bit sceptical about the whole place. However after coming back from the best holiday I've had in a long time, i have to say I was wrong.

We wanted a holiday somewhere fairly quiet that wouldn't be too much of a strain on our fair skin and we got it in spades. The Damon itself was clean and tidy with great facilities - the weather was in the 20s for our entire week and although the pool area was fairly small always busy, you could always get a sunlounger and some shade when you needed it.

Our apartment was great apart from the fact our balcony looked out over the back of the hotel where there was a big patch of wasteground - there seemed to be some kind of competition over who could pull up in their car playing their music the loudest! But this was confined to daytime, so it wasn't too much of a nuisance.

Reading this site before we left, we picked up some great tips especially about supermarkets - the one to the right of the car park is definitely the best, and carrying on along that road takes you into the town centre.

The Tombs of the Kings ( walking distance from the hotel - go onto the strip and head right) were fantastic, as were the mosaics near the fort at the harbour. If you can't face the half hour walk to the harbour and tourist area, we took a number 10 bus from outside Phuket ( fantastic Chinese restaurant that taught us how to use chopsticks) and it took us there for 50 cents.

I'd definitely recommend a trip up into the Troodos mountains, especially up to Mount Olympus. The back roads are great fun to drive on - a real white-knuckler - but the views are absolutely incredible - a chance to see the real Cyprus.

All in all, a fab holiday and we'll definitely be back!

Just got back from a weeks last minute holiday at the Damon Apartments (£109), although it was january the weather was atleast 18degrees C. If you go in the winter go up the trodos mountains, theres loads of snow and a skiing trip run by horizon on the tomb of the kings road. 

The apartment itslef was very clean and spacious, did get a couple of ants but thats what you expect when your abroad. Well equipped kitchen but the fridge was quite noisy at night in a studio. The other reports note about the pool being old and tatty, well good news, while i was there they were retiling it with non-slip tiles.

The main lobby was comfortable with a large TV at either end, usually 1 with sport the other with news (different movie at 3:00pm everyday). theres 2 pool tables (1 inddor, 1 outdoor) 2 arcade machines(offroad and a shooting one) and 2 pc based games machines one with access to the web. The bar was quite resonable and carlsberg is brewed on the island making it a local cheap beer. since I am a vegetarain I did not opt for hotel breakast option but most of the restuarants catar for vegetarains, especially the indian behind our hotel called Prema, the owners are veges too and they come via manchester (honest, even the advert sign says so).

on the way down to the harbour, when you get to the bottom of the road and the sea is in front of you turn left and there are a vast amount of restuarants, there were 2 I went to twice and the had a 3 course meal for CYP4.95 about £7 and 80cents a pint of carlsberg about £1. they were called Kelemaries and Oceanes or something like that, there is also a pizza hut a bit further up on the right. if you go to coral bay, take a walk to the town and go to santa mariner fish and chips (LOVELY).

Also on the day trips, it is cheaper to book with horizon than with the tour rep, horizon is sptting distance from the hotel. If you go to Nicosia, this is the last split capital in europe, the turks own 1 side and the greeks the other, there was a turkish invasion in 1974 and the killed alot of innocent greek men and took over the north side of cyprus. on the 11th floor of woolworths there is a observetory where you can see over to the turks side.

Overall the hotel was welcoming, the room was spacious, the resort was quite but is was winter, the weather was warm (hot compared to england at the time) the sea was warmer than the outdoor pools, and the local people were freindly.

we found Damon apartments to be very clean but basic apartments I would suggest that you take a radio/mp3 player because apart from the Sky sports in the bar and a clock radio in the bedroom their is nothing to relax to if you stay in your room for any period, the breakfast at £1.40 is good value but take your own HP sauce, locally the best bar we found was Thonas,s Jungle bar almost greek food if you want it plenty of it and a very entertaining waiter, Tea for two was good but to English. 

The world heritage site which appears to run into peoples gardens with ruins tombs marvelous Roman mosaic floors is just mind boggling this runs behind the Tomb of the kings Rd and makes you wonder why Time Team bother, many of these historical gems appear to be unguarded and are incorporated into peoples gardens there is even a stump of a column in the Damon Apts garden that looks suspiciously Roman.

For buying in food turn right towards paphos up the hill and after about 200 yards you will see a small supermarket go inside and you will find it is very large opposite this is a good old english instituition a charity shop in the basement of the community centre, nearer Phapos town up the hill and turn right you will find a Coop hypermarket good for presents to take home more charity shops up here as well. If you go on a trip try the one to North Cyprus very good and very foreign.Poor pavements and infastructure around hotel spoil the area if it was cleaned up it would be OK.

Damon is not new, but well looked after and more than exceeded our expectations. Suitable for those wanting a less liveley break. A bonus is the air con. which is included and the location which is not far from town, supermarket , and many restaurants to suit all tastes. We went to Zorbas, Sysyfos and Raffles just over the road which we particulary enjoyed.Tomb of the Kings and the Mosaics down at the harbour are worth a visit.  

With a hired 4wd we went to the Troodos mountains and also Arkamas forest to the north of Paphos both well worth a visit if you want to escape the tourist areas, and see some views. Nicosia is also interesting( & see the Turkish border). Go to Woolworths, theres an observatory on the top floor ! 

The highlight of the holiday has to be the day trip to Egypt, which although VERY expensive at CYP189, has to be a life experience not to be missed, but it is a long day !

We stayed in Cyprus for 2 weeks but only stayed in the Daphne Apartments for 4 days.
We booked through Book Cyprus and on turning up at the Daphne was greeted by the receptionist that was VERY drunk and kept saying are booking was invalid. We asked to speak to the manager. The manager came and was VERY helpful he showed us the acknowledgement form book cyprus saying that he was fully booked for the next few days but very kindly fitted us in altho 7 of us in a 2 bed apartment was a bit of a squash. Needless to say the receptionist was never seen again.

The apartments decore could do with upgrading and was a bit shabby and worn.  They had a kitchen with small oven and 2 rings with fridge, kettle and toaster. The airconditioning was fantastic as on one of the nights its was 36c.
There is a pool which was cleaned every day and the beds washed down as well. Altho a shortage of beds people were putting there towels out at night time and they didnt turn up until 1 in the afternoon which i found a bit rude as families that had been at the pool from first thing had to lie on the ground. 

The apartments are situated in the centre of Paphos so central of everything. I found the tourist area very expensive i paid CY£4.50 for 2 sprites and a fanta. As we had a hire car for 2 weeks we teended to stay away from the tourists parts were the food was much nicer (and cheaper) and as well the beaches.

We have stayed Demetra for many years, they have all become our true friends Andros,Christiana and all the family make us very welcome also love the food that Bambos cooks.
We highly recommend The Demetra to all.
Paphos to us is a very nice and relaxing place with pubs and clubs if you want them.
Mother restaurant, chinese restaruant overlooking the municple deep sea diving are both excellent for their food plus many others that are to numerous to mention.
Really looking forward to going back again this year.

This was our second time to paphos, the last being 18 months ago in early summer.
Having read the comments on this hotel from the last 2 reviewers we thought that as we were going on business this time that it would suffice, how wrong we were.

Firstly I must say it was out of season and with that in mind you shouldn't expect too much ,the hotel was centrally situated so it was good to be in the middle of the bars and restaurants without much noise...owing to being out of season...I would expect that in high season things would get quite loud.

On arrival check in was easy...the reception staff were superb, especially Katarina she was lovely and helpful too.
We were shown to our room on the first floor which backed onto the restaurants behind but this was no problem.
The rooms were smallish, and as we had booked our 12 yr old daughter last minute we had to squeeze her in on a put up bed which was supplied...not ideal but she did sleep in it.
The room had double doors out onto a small balcony , these doors had wooden slatted outer doors which were pretty manky and old, they were warped and were very very hard to close.
there were loads of ants around this door, we were swatting them all the time, there were also loads in the bathroom.

In general the hotel is dated and really needs a make over...we were later told that is actually the oldest hotel in paphos...and it shows.
Our daughter really wanted to go in the pool, but when we saw it there was no way that she was going in it, the pool looked like it hadn't been cleaned for ages...it was filthy.
There was nobody around the hotel at all...we often wondered if we were the only people there as we saw nobody.
The T.v in the room didnt work, the towels were grubby etc etc...
all in all we definitely wouldn't recommend this hotel to anybody...if you are looking for a cheap place to just get your head down and you aren't bothered about much else then the dionysos may be ok for you.
We are fairly well travelled , we dont like a lot of the 4/5 star hotels they are a bit stuffy sometimes, give us a good 3 star anytime, unfortunately I wouldn't rate the dionysos even a 2 star, a shame really as with a little extra effort it could be better.

We stayed for 2 nights then gave in and booked into the Alexander the great just up the road...a really nice 4 star hotel which we highly recommend.
Paphos itself has some nice places to eat, particularly the Hobos cafe on the marina which does lovely food by the water and reasonably priced too.

We stayed in Paphos in early July 2006. One of the best holidays my wife and I have enjoyed. 

The resort was full of life, but without excessive noise or loutish behaviour. Our hotel could not have been better situated. It is handy for all amenities, and our room was very comfortable. It had air conditioning, and was kept scupulously clean. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. We stayed on a B and B basis. The breakfast fare was excellent - plenty of choice, and unlimited helpings. In fact we had only one midday meal during the entire week, and that was on a day trip to Limmassol, when we dined at the British Legion Club, situated on the sea front. The meal was delicious, and the price was reasonable.

The hotel swimming pool was ideally situated, and nearby there was an additional sunbathing area. Sunbeds were in abundance,and there was no need to reserve them.

In addition to the trip to Limmassol, which included a trip to Curium, a Roman site, and a visit to the Winery, including "tasting", we went to the Troudos mountains, and visited two wonderful Monasteries. The Water Park in Paphos was excellent, and on the day we visited (Saturday) there were no queues. We made our own way to Coral Beach on the reasonably priced buses. Paphos has a fort, and near to this there is an enormous historical site containing many amazing mozaics. Visiting is free on Sundays, as is the site containing "Tombs of Kings".

I have never seen such a choice of retaurants, and bars, many of which have entertainment on the premises. The variety of food available is amazing. We would have no hesitation in visiting the resort and hotel again.

My/Our Holiday Opinion: 

Our first time to Cyprus, Paphos proved to be an excellent choice with a lively atmosphere, plenty to see & restaurants for every taste & budget - try an evening meal in the Municiple Restaurant (next door to the Alexander the Great Hotel, 15 min stroll East of the main prom along a lit & paved coast path)- the tables are almost on the waters edge & the fish was excellent. 

The Dionysos hotel is about 75 metres from the sea-front & a 10 min stroll to the harbour. The staff were all very friendly & helpful (& we do mean all - the cleaners, waitresses, reception staff etc). The breakfast was so good we decided to upgrade to 1/2 Bd for a few nights & found the buffet evening meal to be just as good with a huge choice & excellent quality (& ideal for big-eaters). There were always plenty of sunbeds around the pool & on the terrace overlooking the bay. 

We didn't think much of Limmasol (particularly the harbour & sea-front) but a drive into the Troodos mountains was well worth the day away from the beach / pool & Latchi (next to Polis) will be a pretty place when the harbour is finished. 

On the down side - dissappointed with the beaches - we tried about 6 different ones around the south / west  & all were stony / rocky at the waters edge (even the renouned Coral Bay). In short - I would recommend Portland (our 4th year of 'small & friendly') & particularly the Dionysos hotel (try to get a pool-view room or a pool / sea view upgrade - looked well worth it for the view).

Just returned from a weeks (late deal) from Paphos,  staying at the Hotel Dionysos.
As it was a late deal we did not know until arrival at airport what hotel we were to be put in.
Hotel Dionysos was in a very good location, just 1 min. from Bar Street!
Although the hotel was spotlessly clean, I do think that the rooms need to be updated.  (They do have de-luxe rooms,  just have to pay a little extra! & you get a free safe, free fridge & tea & coffe) 
Pool area, very clean and ample sunbeds, pool good although I suppose it would be a little on the small side in the height of the summer season.
Hotel staff very friendly.

Few places to eat:-  Trata (excellent fish restaurant),  Mandra (opp. hotel) very nice meze!,  Maestro's  (give it 10 / 10 for both food & presentation) meals are huge - be warned!,  Othellos also very nice.
Zorros bar, Sixty's, Robin Hood & Hollywoods were all good bars & had a few late nights!  (Robin Hood has good toilets 4 or 5, not like some bars that just have one!)

Car rental:-  Easy rent a car Ltd ?  (road opp. Alexander the Great Hotel,  owner called George)  very friendly.

Coral bay about the best beach you will find in Paphos area,  Tourist beach down the other end past water park is a bit stoney, but probably safer to go with small children as water a bit shallower.

Water park about £15 cyp. about £7 for kids,  very enjoyable day out,  but do be careful with kids as we heard that there has been a few accidents & also one or two drownings. (think accidents were broken arms / legs etc probably from the kamikazee)  We have been there three times and never had any problems, so don't be put off.  You also don't have to carry money round with you all day, as they put a  wrist band on you and you pay for anything you have eaten or drunk on your way out! (good idea, but dont loose your band as I think it costs you a lot more)

All in all had a lovely nice weeks holiday, can't wait to return in August.

Our first visit to Cyprus, and as we are not beach lovers but interested in historic sites, we booked a fly-drive package through Sunvil. Not the cheapest by any means but previous "experiences" with cheap and cheerful packages taught us a lesson and we were not disappointed this time round.

Cyprus airways were superb. On time, good flight times (no middle of the night stuff) and plenty of in flight entertainment.

The hotel is only on a few tour operator's books, as it caters mainly for the home market, but the room was fine. TV, fridge, ensuite shower and toilet and a view to die for, over the mountains south of Polis. It must have one of the highest pools on the island.

The car had 5000 miles on the clock and we paid for aircon which we were pleased to have. Many car hire firms offer dodgy looking motors but Petsas is a good one.

Next time we'll hire an off-roder so we can do the trails through the forests and see the turtle beach

After all reviews I have read, I was slightly worried; I needn't have been.  

The hotel was exactly as described, very secluded, but thats what we wanted. We did have the advantage of having a car all week (Book in the UK, 'economycarrentals' cost us only £133 for the week from the airport and back). I do have the advantage that I have been to Paphos 4 times in last 10 yrs so know area ok. Roads a bit mad but if you are confident its fine. Loads of parking and underground parking too although did get a few looks from staff (checked at desk and told if I can find space there its fine to park there). 

Our room was 1 bed appt. (No. 1614, I highly recommend as it was lovely, overlooks shallow end pool, some sea view and not 1 ant! very surprising! I always expect ants when away). Sofa goes into 2 beds, big enough for adults and were v comfy. Bags of room in rest of lounge/dining area. bedroom had cot made up, room to get round beds without stubbing toes on cot of furniture too! (Especially good as I didnt swear loudly and wake baby at 3am! haha). Safe screwed into wall so good, I advise getting one as you will need to leave your money,passports etc there - £10cy pw). Complementary A/C is £10cy deposit, you do get it back, no hassles but check display turns on before trying in your room, our batteries were dead on arrival although was changed immediately by apologetic man on reception. VERY hot in August, Take at least 4 bottles factor 50+ if with family, you will need it! We ran out and bit pricey even at big shops down road. Theres a compressor pump in the mini market on site to pump up inflatables! found this after going blue blowing up kids rings etc!haha. 

Didnt need reps so cant really comment on them, heard they were just fine though. Dont book late check out on line unless you have to, we paid £40sterling and it was only £20cy through reception although you may have to switch rooms (we did get to stay in our room). Put red door sign out if you want lie in, maids will leave you alone! Pool lovely but put towel out early for bed, they free up @ 4pm. 

Entertainment... mostly more crp than holiday camp at home but good to socialise. Cypriot people do seem to be given preference sometimes so get seat early on good nights. Recommend FIRE SHOW! WOW! Mohummed is brilliant! 10 stone guy lifting 2x12+ stone guys at same time then walking on broken glass! Thats just 1 bit of the show. Also glad to say that they really check well that the glass is contained so area safe after show for all! stock up on drinks coz you wont want to miss a bit! Barbara was lovely too, loads of energy and remembers your name all week. Drinks werent watered down to my knowledge and I work in a pub in uk. Spirits strong, Ouzo cocktail lovely but hits u quick!

Food beautiful, loads of choice, may get boring after 2 weeks (we were only there for 1) but you really shouldnt go hungry. food constantly refreshed too, never left sitting there for too long. My kids can be really fussy but ate well all week. Orange juice fresh so got 'bits' in it according to my boys, only thing they moaned about. Slush puppies not in the all inclusive or milkshakes - just a warning for you parents out there! 

little man made beach down hill in front of hotel good for quick paddle. Coral bay better for the day but we never made it as just too hot with 1 yr old (but that was our choice). people warned us that you cant get on bus covered in sand-just a warning). Harbour area as lovely as I remember it, a bugger to park so prob recommend bus. Snacks at pool bar lovely (they're meals really!) cheese burger lovely and omlette great if you miss breakfast (as we did most days!). Kids really loved ice cream 10am til 6pm, so did the baby (and us too). no-where to get food between 6 and 7pm though! didnt bother us but you have been warned. Teenagers seemed bored when we were there and were a bit of a pain to be honest. if they had been mine they would not have been behaving in such a down-right rude, disrespectful manner, that was our only really bad point but a few 'glares' and they seemed to get the message.

All in all we had a wonderful time and are already looking at booking again for next year. Would love to go for 10 days. Met some lovely people and have made plans to meet in the uk soon. A holiday is what you make of it, we wanted secluded, no need to go out etc and thats what we got. If you want to see the island, eat out etc then hire a car or be prepared to use public transport etc - you will have to if you stay here but if you read the brouchure you will see that!

We have just got back from this hoilday and i can say it was the best 1 we have eva been on, we really didnt want to come back. The rooms were very clean and spacious we went SC as we wanted to eat out and explore the island. Other guests said the AI food was abit boring and the menu was repeated on the 2nd week. loads of entertainment uve got Water polo,killer pool,killer darts,french bowls and table tennis if u win you get a free drink at the bar and u have to go up on stage and do a Shackey Shackey bit weid but if it gets u a free drink who cares. Oh the entertainers Barbara and Mohamid are WKD we had such a laugh with them and are always really happy and up for a laugh. You must try a Meze u can get fish,meat or even a mixed, we had ours at the Captains View down the Harbour they had a band and a lady singer which was nice. If u go to Coral Bay there is a resturant called The Elephant it is so posh and the food was really cheap and absolutly DELISH. 

Coral Bay beach is really lovely but the sand was so hot i had Blisters popping up on the spot(Seriously), the beach bar there quite dear but thats the nearest place to eat unless u fancy a walk up to the main stretch of cafes and restuants. Nice walk but so hot so take water with you. We got buses everywhere only 80c each and that takes u 2 as far as u want 2 go. 

You might think theres not many bars but there is Bar street off the Harbour street we found out about this on our 2nd week and i cant really remember much so i obvoisly had a few good nites there.U must try the pepperoni pizza resturant by the bus stop really cheap and again DELISH we ate there 5 times coz there is such a choice and wines cheap and handy coz no bus jorney to worry about. I havnt got anything bad to say apart from ennoying cab drivers tooting at you constantly and resturant staff trying to get u 2 eat with them just say uve already eaten and they will stop bugging you (Hopefully) 

Overall holiday 11/10.

We had two weeks at the ELENI over the Easter period. Our board basis was Self Catering and I can say that we had no problems whatsoever. The complex was very clean and the rooms were cleaned on a regular basis with fresh towels etc.
We hired a car when we booked our holiday and I am glad we did. Before travel we paid £100 for 12 days. On arrival in resort the price was far in excess of this.
If you are self catering you will need a car to travel to the Supermarkets. The shop on site as you can expect is rather over priced.The drinks at the bar are very expensive as well.
We had one meal in the resturant at the Hotel and this was on our first night at the complex. I was not very impressed with the standard of food. That said however we never went back so I can not comment any further. Maybe anyone who stopped AI?
The price to upgrade from Self Catering to AI was £20 per adult and £10 per child per day and that is in Cypriot pounds. It works out at about £70 GBP for a family of four. I suppose you take your choice.
There is so much to see and do in and around Paphos I could be on here all night but there are the Tomb of the Kings, Roman Villas and Mosaics and the Castle in the Harbour.( Free on Sundays !)
All in all the ELENI is very clean, the staff are very friendly I have no problem in recommending this hotel.

This was our second visit to the Eleni, we were there in Apr 06 as well.

We stayed on an all inclusive basis which is bookable in the UK. You can upgrade while in the hotel but it will cost £19 CYP per person.

This is not a 4 star beach hotel in fact it is far from it. However the rooms are clean and comfortable. The Restaurant serves the most gorgeous food buffet and carvery style. The pool is clean and inviting but does not get the love and care found in other hotels. The hotel lobby is a well furnished comfortable place to relax and have a coffee by day and enjoy some drinks by night. There is also an outside entertainment area which will open again for the summer. There is also a pool bar which serves drinks and snacks.

All inclusive option gives you breakfast, lunch and dinner. If you are still hungry you can order from the extensive snack menu or get unlimited ice creams. It also covers the usual local produced booze. This is a bit of a negative with this hotel. Like most frequent vistors to this lovely island I really enjoy Keo (local lager), not sure what it is, but in my opinion it don't taste the same here. HOWEVER they do offer Carlsberg as this is locally produced in Cyprus and this is a nice pint. They do serve nice cocktails but are stingy with the alcohol BUT if you have a good personality just befriend the bar staff (not difficult as they are lovely) and tell them you want to taste the alcohol. The wine is disgusting though, served from cartons yuck! However the wine in the restaurant which is all inclusive by the glass is very nice.

Entertainment by day is very poor but the night time is considerably better. If you don't have children and dislike children running around uncontrolably then don't go. Seriously I have three kids who are well behaved and the kids running around did my head in. If you have kids and want a worry free safe place for them to burn energy and have good time then this is the place for you.

Hotel location is a bit pony. It is half way between Pafos and Coral Bay with only a few restaurants nearby. However the buses are very frequent and cost 80 cents for adult and 50 cents for kids. Taxi to Pafos costs £7. If you hire a car there are loads of space to park it.

Out and about in Pafos there are loads of bars and restaurants some pricey and some cheap as chips. We had three favourites which were Pastry Corner which is on the front, this is a cheap snack restaurant, prices around £4 each. We also enjoyed Fresh Fish in the harbour area where we went to the Pelican Restaurant, not cheap and not fast service, but very friendly and lovely food. You can't go to Cyprus without having a traditional Meze and we go to Phivos which is on Poseidonos Avenue, basically just go up the hill from the harbour and it is about a half mile on left. The most gorgeous food, the hardest working waiters you will find and extremely friendly, especially with Families. Meze was about £9 each, they do Meat and Fish.

Well I hope the review was of some help. Don't listen to the moaning minnies who go on about the hotel rooms. Good tip though, if you order a Superior room with Spa the rooms are even better. E-mail the hotel in advance if need be, the best rooms are 1011-1019 whcih are situated in the main hotel. Rooms 1013 and 1014 are the best as they overlook the pool, Sea and you have the best view from your balcony of the Med and the sun will set right in front of you. If you are a large family or taking other family members then 1013 and 1014 have interconnecting doors. 1015 and 1016 are Studios with interconnecting doors.

My/Our Holiday Opinion: 

Rooms - were a bit basic but clean, would recomend you get a one bedroom apartment if you have more than one child.

Food - was good,plenty of choice (all inclisive)but was repeated second week. Beware that some drinks are not included in the all inclusive price such as iced coffee and slush puppies.

Shop - The on site shop was well stocked if you needed anything although the shops nearby were cheaper

Pool - was ok, che childrens pool very tiny though and i would think a bit crowded in high season. The sports pool was always a bit desserted as the spots seemed to be played in the main pool which did get rather annoying.
Staff - some staff were better than others but overall friendly and helpfull.
Reps - the reps werev there most days and always very helpfull only went on 1 trip to the water park which was great.
Car hire - Please DO NOT use any of the car hire palces near by as we had trouble with one of them and so did another guest whle we were there - would recomend going throught the reps.
Location - Nice little place but not for you if you like lots of livley nightlife etc. There are nearby shops and restaurents to vist.
Bus servive - Good bs service just up the road and very cheap.
Entertainment - leass said about that the better! poor but no worse that i have seen before!

All in all the holiday was good although i would recomend if you go for 2 weeks you have one self catering and one all inclusive so you can go explore a bit.

This was the second time I stayed at the Eleni, mainly due to a late deal and some confusion over availability of other hotels.  That said, it's still basic but clean, room was cleaned every day except Sunday (by a very friendly and helpful lady) and linen was changed every other day.  Things were looking a little 'tired' but it was nearly the end of the main season.  Location remains quiet and too far away from the centre of Paphos for anyone wanting nightlife on their doorstep - if that's what you want then book somewhere in Kato Paphos!  It wasn't too busy while I was there, so plenty of choice for sunloungers etc, but I would hate to be there in peak season.  Reception staff were extremely helpful sorting out a room change for me on the first day (got a fantastic sea view from room 3012!)but thereafter seemed disinterested.  Beware phantom phone charges if you use the phone in your room!  The staff at the Hector Bar still need to learn to smile but towards the end of my stay did start being a little more friendly...except Maria of course!  Entertainment as dire as last time (I saw what was on offer and didn't bother) despite a change of staff. 

Have to retract my comment last year about Angelikas Restaurant nearby, not such good food or service this time.  Pepperoni Pizza do a good variety of food and reasonably priced, but places like Raffles further down towards Paphos Harbour are far better.  Airtours rep wasn't very knowledgeable or especially helpful, I found out more myself by asking other hotel guests.  Flight to Egypt was amazing but keep day after free as you will feel tired.  Trip advertised with reps as 'Escape to the East' was a complete and utter waste of money, you have been warned.  Mosaics in Paphos are definitely worth seeing if history is your sort of thing, go on a Sunday when it's free!  Chlorakas now has a 'proper' beach area as they have built an effective break water so it is now good for swimming, that was a nice surprise after last time. 

Overall, if you keep in mind that the Eleni is very basic but (in my experience and I am fussy about cleanliness) acceptably clean, in a quiet location but a good base for your holiday and if you 'beware high season', then you shouldn't have too many nasty surprises.  As one rep mentioned to me, you get what you pay for and the Eleni is far from being at the higher end of the market price wise.

I was really worried about this holiday as all previous reviews were bad but it wasn't that bad. 

The rooms were ok and well equipped for self catering. The rooms were cleaned daily apart from change over days on Sundays and Wednesdays but it seemed towels were changed daily. We went all inclusive which was cheaper than doing it whilst out there. The food was good - a bit boring by the second week and the entertainment was pretty crap but we made our own. Coral Bay beach is lovely but can't believe how much Coral Bay has changed in the last two years. The only bad point I have is that the pools didn't seem very clean. The water was cloudy and had bits in and three of the kids in our party got conjunctivitis with several other people complaining of it. The Eleni has been reduced to a 3 star hotel next summer which I think is correct. 

All in all not a bad holoiday but probably wouldn't go back to Eleni again.

it does not have a first aider on site, my girl got burned with "boiling" soup and when i went to reception i was offered a spray can for sunburn, was advised by the tour rep to go to st georges medical centre, guess what,its private, no one tells you until after treatment,thirty quid, and thanks rep, you must have known?.

the complex
its shabby,the entrance is fantastic and gives a false impession, a ninteen eighties butlins but with sunshine, it looks worn out already and we have just returned at the start of the season,would hate to see the place in august.

swimming pool
dangerous, tiles are slippery around pool and in the kiddies shallow bit, grandaughter got the bruises to prove it,
no life gaurd but there is a guy that walks around in a yellow t/shirt with "life gaurd" emblaxoned on his back. sunbeds, get up early if you want one, most are covered by eight

bar/entertainment
beer, flat before you get back to your seat, and its warm, tend to drink to much just to make up for the weakness of it and next day go looking for that damnded cat. talking of cats, got some of them on the complex as well, rub around your legs at lunch time in the dining area,
in the evening it is used as the entertainment area,garden plastic seats, warm evening, does get a bit sticky, did i say entertainment, make your own, canned music and bingo and hour of disco music for the kids followed by some local dance/song acts,

onsite shop expensive, go out the front door of the complex and turn right,1 min' walk there is a shop, cheaper,also, about 100 yards away in the other direction is another shop which is well stocked and also a chemist across the road, and you will have to walk pass the church, go inside, you will be amazed.
maid service,think there was one, very sparodic
the complex is a bit isolated so bus/taxi is required to get anywhere as there is nothing close by,taxi to the harbour is a fiver (cy) mini bus is pound a person (adults).
go to the water park close by, its cheaper and brand new, the one they offer you is expensive ( but good fun )

we went all inclusive and can say the food was generally pretty good, lots of choice and all well cooked, apart from veggies which always seemed half cooked, and, you get peppers in everything ( i hate peppers ), kids will love their buffet,loads of stuff kids like, burgher/sausages/pizza and chips (chips are good).
the catering staff and the service in the bar was excellent.

after all that, had a good time, would not go again/recomend it to anybody but we all enjoyed ourselves and it really wasnt that bad ( wry smile)
no really, we did enjoy ourselves, the climate is wonderful and thats what you go on holiday for, innit.
the best bit for us was we had room 3114, what a view, the holiday was made for us with that view, you get a sun set and a view all along the coast and later you get the moon across the water, you cant buy that.

well after reading some of the reviews i was worried what we would find when we arrived and to be honest it wasnt that good!! 

the rooms were basic and cleaned every other day but our room had a ant problem which wasnt good.also we had a couple of cockrochers aswell in the 2weeks we were there.

the main pool was great but noticed by the end of the hol it had bits in it so not sure when it was last cleaned.
we went all inclusive and the food was ok if you are not a fussey eater but you may find it a problem if you are.
now the entertainment what can i say but what total and utter rubbish,they had no real acts just the entertainment team doin a quiz or miss  and mr eleni village the act they  had greek dancers were the staff from the hotal they spent no money on acts at all and by 10.30 it was over with just a cd being played.

now to say this was a 4star hotel i have been in better 3 star i do not reconmend this hotel.

Based on other reviews of the Eleni, I wasn't sure what to expect. However, I have to say that the Eleni is a good place for a holiday. We stayed in a 1 bed apartment & whilst it was fairly basic, it was kept spotlessly clean on a daily basis, with towels & bed linen being changed every 2 days.

The pool is excellent for all ages (although, as it is unheated, it was quite cold during the first week but it had warmed up considerably by the end of the week - the price for taking an early season holiday I guess).

We originally booked on a self catering basis but after a couple of meals in the restaurant we upgraded to half board (cost appox 275 cypriot pounds). I havent compared this to the cost of booking up front but we felt it was quite good value for breakfast & evening meal for 3.

The childrens club at the Eleni is run by First Choice & the staff were excellent. A varied program throughout most of the week with activities throughout the day. The only minor issue was that some of the evening sessions tended to be exactly when you would like to be eating with young children (ie 18:00 > 20:00) 

On the down side, the entertainment provided by the hotel wasn't upto much. The childrens part of the evening entertainment invariably didn't statr until 20:45 and only lasted for 15 - 20 minutes. After that it was the usual silly games, karaoke etc for the adults & it was a bit to holiday camp for my liking.

All in all, it was an enjoyable holiday but I would agree with other, previous comments, in that it shouldnt really be classed as a 4 star.  I don't know if I would visit Cyprus again (this was my second visit) as it is getting very commercialised & with it expensive.

After reading some of the reviews on here I felt it only right to add our opinion.

We have just returned from the Elini Village and can honestly say we thoroughly enjoyed it.
The Bar and Restaurant Staff were very friendly and the food was gorgeous. Must have put quite a few pounds on.
There are at least 4 choices of cooked meals  every evening plus salads, soups. desserts and fresh fruit.
The snack bar during the day is just as good and staff also pleasant there.

The maids were in every day except one.
Clean sheets every other day and even the day before we left, which is unheard of.

We knew when we booked it that it was in the middle of nowhere and that is exactly what we wanted. Only 80 cents for a bus ride into Paphos or £5 for a taxi.
 I would throughly recommend this hotel as a 3 star hotel and would think it especially good for families with children as All Inclusive.
The Pool is huge and spotlessly clean.

I would definitely return there with my husband and would recommend it to others too.

Booked this late deal on an all inclusive basis, what a bargain. We booked a superior room which comes with a jacuzi, coffee maker and hair dryer. All these were a waste of time but the room was situated within the hotel and was in very good condition unlike some of the blocks.
All inclussive was good, as much food as you can eat from three restaurant sittings, snack bar all day and as much ice cream you could eat. Not to mention the free drinks (locally produced). I love the local Cyprus beer Keo but it tasted horrible here, had Carlsberg instead which is included as it is brewed in Cyprus.
Entertainment was rubbish as is the location but we knew this before we booked from reading the reviews on this site.
Bus travel is cheap and easy 80c adult and 50c children.
As other reviewers mentioned the maid service is rubbish as it is hit and miss.
The pool is fantastic, has a waterfall which is a nice touch when lazing around it.
Sits on the Med but the nearest Beach for bathing is Coral Bay a short taxi or bus journey, this is the most perfect beach.
If you are going to go all inclussive, don't listen to the reviews on here about upgrading when you get there, the cost difference is huge.
I would give the hotel a 3+ rating.

In over thirty years of Package and self organised holidays the Eleni Village Apartments were by far he most disgraceful,dirty,scruffy I have seen. We demanded a move and since there was no alternative to getting out completely we moved to the annexe belonging to the Arklion complex next door.

In our original room there was fungus on all the tiled surfaces,kitchen and bathroom, no hot water !! possibly available next day!!Furniture was worn out,fridge door smashed with sharp plastic for a handle all fit for the next door fly tippers depot, head into Paphos by the coastal walk and you have to go through it.
What worrys me is that others seem to accept poor standards and as such we British tourists deserve what we get.
The annexe overlooks the complex sewage plant so has constant hum of machinery and human waste !
The tennis court ? is adjacent to this plant and is falling to bits, used for football now !!
Please, all tourists going to such substandard places do not accept it, if you do we all suffer.

I have sent photographs to the Head of First Choice asking if he would class this place as four **** as in his companies brochure it beggars belief and needs investigating. The local rep also baffled me by saying he thought our room no.1212 was not all that bad, very very scary.
The next door sister complex Aklion was better, cleaner etc.

We were in the King Jason apartments in Paphos November 2005 and they are recommended, and unbelievably closed at present for refurbishment, Eleni needs more than serious refurbishment.........

Cyprus as a destination is in need of a good clean up,there is a lot of indiscriminate dumping which is clear to see as you walk into Paphos or Coral Bay, we have been to Cyprus 4 times in 20 years and the deterioration is so sad to witness. Try some other Greek islands as the authentic feel of this destination is vanishing fast,it is a vast building site with no completion date.

I stayed in the Eleni Village for christmas 2005 for 2 weeks with a friend.We had a brilliant time was worried after reading reviews on this web site.The room was clean and maid service came round nealy every day very friendly and helpful.Barstaff very friendly even though they work long hours.Well done Tasos,Angela and George.The entertainment in the evening is basic but you enjoy it and have a laugh.The location of the hotel is in a quiet are but you can get buses and taxis no problem.
It cant be that bad because i returned for my birthday in March with my parents and two friends we had a ball even though the weather was not great.

Im also going back in July for 2 weeks and maybe booking for christmas.

So my advise is just go and enjoy yourself.

Having just returned from 2 weeks in the Eleni. 

We were dissapointed with  the 4* rating First Choice had given the Hotel. In my opinion it was no more than a 2-3*. Maid service was not very good hit and miss when you got your towels and sheets changed. The rooms were no cleaned very well at all dust and kids toys under the beds. Although the entertainment staff were good, they have very few resorces to work with ( only 2 darts not 3 )

Staff very friendly and the food on the whole was very good as I am fussy eater this was appreciated. One last thing although the hotel had a choice of 4 draught beers there were days when only one beer (Leon) was being sereve through all 4 pumps in the Paris bar. 

All in all we had a good holiday, met good people but will not be returning to the Eleni, there are far better hotels in Cyprus

just returned from 1 weks holiday at the eleni.  its was our 4th time to cyprus and we found that phaphos has got very expensive.  the eleni was a disappointment as weel,  we where given a studio 6ft away from the disco speakers.  we asked the rep to move us the next morning which she did after a argument with her. the pool area even in october was very busy and has trouble getting a sunbed.  the bar area at night was dreadful plastic chairs and tabels, and the acts where not worth sitting and watching very poor indeed.  

we made the most of our week and the weather was great.  we hired a jeep for 5 days and set off up the mountains and costal roads.  that was the highlight to our holiday.  

i would not have liked to stuck around the eleni complex for anymore than a day.

A last minute booking with First Choice and having read the reviews about the Eleni Holiday Village I wasn't expecting much.  Well, at worst it was still a very welcome last minute get away to the sun with friends, so at least the company was guaranteed to be good!

As it turned out, the Eleni wasn't too bad at all.  The studio apartment was spotlessly clean, if a bit basic.  We had a balcony, plus bathroom including shower, cooking facilities including a kettle, fridge, toaster, oven etc.  All ok and very clean.  Very little cutlery provided though, a bit of a problem when trying to cut up watermelon for breakfast! 

No problems at all with ants in the apartment or balcony, despite what I'd read here.  Advise you to take lots of mosquito repellant though, including the plug in ones for your room and maybe some joss sticks or something for the balcony; despite using loads of spray I still got bitten!

Initial disappointment that we didn't have the sea view we requested later turned to complete relief as we realised most apartments with sea or pool views overlooked / were within hearing distance of the Paris Bar, which would have meant a lot of noise til the early hours plus no privacy in the day as they also overlooked the pool and day time snack bar.  So we were happy with our balcony overlooking the side road and enjoyed a drink or few listening to the sound of the crickets every night rather than the disco / karaoke etc.

We did not go the bar in the evening much - everything I read on this site about the poor entertainment at the Eleni is true!  If you don't mind 'eyes down' for a quick game of bingo, or if listening to karaoke all night or watching half hearted entertainment is ok with you, then great - but it wasn't for us.  To be fair, the entertainment staff were obviously trying their best and it was a very quiet week, but they were fighting a losing battle I think. More to do with lack of budget they had than any lack of enthusiasm or talent on their part though.

We went self-catering and thank goodness for that.  The food at the Eleni was dreadful.  We did try a few meals but gave up very quickly.  In the day, if you want a club sandwich or chips, then it's fine, but for a proper meal then it's best to eat out.  On the main Tomb of the Kings Road very near the Eleni was the Angelika Restaurant, and we quickly discovered it was much cheaper and nicer than the restaurant next to J's Supermarket. An extra minute to cross the road to the Angelika and the food was reasonably priced, good size portions, service friendly and they didn't rush you.  Can recommend it.

J's Supermarket is much cheaper than the one to the right of the Eleni by the way, but check the opening times.  (The onsite supermarket is very expensive so use for essential/emergency purchases on arrival only!)

The Eleni IS in a quiet location.  This suited us perfectly as we wanted a quiet break, but for anyone who looks forward to their night time entertainment...it may not be for you.  To get to Paphos Harbour or Bar Street means a taxi anytime after 7pm-ish.  (Don't rely on the local buses after 7pm!)  Check with reception who will advise on the most you should pay for a taxi trip to/from Paphos Harbour.  We heard a few people got fleeced.

Other than that; pool was lovely, very clean and while it was busy it wasn't crowded (but it was a quiet week I wouldn't want to be there when the kids are still off school); recommend the trip up to the Troodos Mountain Villages, see a bit of real Cyprus, fantastic day; everyone was very friendly with the exception of the staff at the pool snack bar; air conditioning is worth paying the deposit/fee for; we did hear there was some trouble the week we were there, a few problems late at night and one break-in again late at night, but to be honest we didn't know much about it so won't comment further here; First Choice reps were very helpful, no complaints with the service there at all; to get the best out of seeing the Pafos region or indeed Cyprus, you really need to hire a car - none of us could drive and we missed out on seeing loads of places as no public transport plus had to pay a fortune for a taxi to Aphrodite's Rock; internet access at the Eleni is a rip-off, don't email home phone home, it's cheaper!;  Paphos Town and Harbour definitely worth a visit, can be done easily by local bus which stops outside the Angelika; Cyprus not a cheap holiday but worth paying a bit extra for; no problems with sun loungers at the Eleni at all but, again, was a quiet week can imagine it would be beach towels at dawn during busy times!

So, if you keep in mind that the Eleni is what we in the UK would think of as an ok 2 star (i.e. clean but very basic) and beware the entertainment and high season weeks, you should be able to enjoy using it as a base to explore and enjoy your time in the Paphos region. 

From what I have seen so far of Cyprus, it is just a beautiful place, I can't wait to go back.

Arrived at paphos airort at 2 pm and had to wait for 2 hours for luggage.... 5 fligts landed together and paphos airport is just a nightmare.  Thankfully we had been before so knew what to expect. BEWARE!! but don't be put off because Cyprus is beautiful.

The transfer took only 20 mins, we were 3rd drop off.

Eleni Hotel is situated just off the main road, overlooking St Georges Chapel and the sea.

Just a 10 min walk to nearest bus stop that goes to both Coral Bay and Paphos Harbour and old town. Runs every 20 mins and cost 50p, great way to get around and see paphos.
Shop on site and also a little shop 5 mins walk from hotel, Say hi to Andreas the owner who is lovely.

We chose a deluxe studio which was fine, clean and comfortable. Jaccuzzi bath was a nice added touch.
We stayed all inclusive, breakfast and lunch ok but dinner gets a bit boring,there is a childrens buffet which was good.

Main entertainments area is ok, Craig and Hannah are lovely.  Kids entertainment team are lovely too.  Do feel that the kids disco was a bit late starting at 9 pm though.  Pool area nice, great for kids.

Look out for George at the pool bar, forever playing tricks on guest, lovely guy. Overall a great holiday, fab for families who want a standard accommodation base in quiet area.

having read poor right ups prior to going to the eleni my wife and i were quite concerned upon arrival the hotel looked very nice we were told where our room was then proceded along down several sets of steps,we werent told there was a path behind rooms rooms were nice and big but were not cleaned very well dust under beds etc ants everywhere and with two young children there will be crumbs and sweets lying about 

the staff in the main bar the paris bar were rude sarcastic and tight they couldnt seem to understand put some alcohol in (use your legs and come back if you want more)we were told the beer was flat the shorts ,very short,the glasses dirty....no wonder we had to go out at night ..then the food although plentiful especially cauliflower for breakfast dinner and evening meal fried or cold was very bland especially for kids fish fingers every day the cutlery was dirty never no cups for breakfast or glasses (dirty or clean)orange juice watered down with tap water as i witnessed. 

my little girls all inc band snapped and we were made to pay for another despite arguing with the rep that this had already been paid for,the entertainment in the main bar was poor,and with the heat you couldnt sit for long before you were sweating ,

overall we made the best of a bad situation,this is our third time in cyprus and the last thanks to the eleni holiday village and first choice reps

Spent 2 weeks at this location and on a whole we enjoyed the holiday. The hotel rooms were very good, pool clean although you did have to be up at 7am to put your towel on sun bed, they were all gone by 9am!, rooms were spacious and clean, the food was very good with a good choice. But the downside reasons for not returning were
a) the drink was appalling, hardly any alcohol content at all and you did feel like a second citizen and
b) the entertainment was the worst I have ever seen out of 14 nights only 4 nights of "paid" entertainment, the rest was audience adult game shows and karaoke.The entertainment is purely for children 8 years and under (daytime and evening up to 10pm) then the rest was so bad we went to bed).

My son is 10 years old and there was nothing for his age group organised for the day or evening and spent his time on pool tables and game machines! The hotel is  ideal for people with children under 8 yrs.
The hotel is situated out of the main town but the bus service is excellent. Went on one day trip Limmasol water park - excellent cannot say any more, well worth the money. 

Will return to Cyprus as a single parent felt totally safe but it was the hotel entertainment that was a downside,

We arrived at the Eleni during the early hours of the morning following a 3 hour delay from Bristol Airport.  The transfer from the airport was effortless, reps and coaches waiting, all on board and away we went! 
The hotel was, obviously, quiet.  Having checked in, we then went to our "superior room".  It was cooking!  The air-con is complimentary (although you are required to leave a deposit for the tv & air-con remote controls) but it is operated by putting a tag into a slot by the door.  After 20 mins the room was starting to cool, so we finally managed to get into bed.

Breakfast is served 'till 10am and what a breakfast it was!  Fruit, cereal, fry-up, toast - you name it, it was there!!
The swimming pool is fab!  The children who were with us on our stay were in the pool from 10am - 6pm every day!
The staff are helpful, but very laid back.  My 5 year old daughter has Coeliac Disease (requires a strict gluten-free diet).  Having spoken to out rep, we then spoke to Dinos the Maitre de.  Nothing was too much trouble, all we had to do was order what she wanted to eat when we entered the restaurant.  Again, the lunch-time and evening meals were a plenty and being all-inclusive, we could keep helping ourselves!!

The kids Club Reps were fantastic, Silly Steph, Crazy Charelle and Gemma.  They did a fantastic job looking after the kids, they even went bowling!  4 hours of uninterupted sun bathing!
But the best rep of them all was George, the Swim Kids instructor.  She was brilliant, the £22 spent on swimming lessons was the best i have ever spent.  She was firm but fair, the kids loved her.
Entertainment wasn't up to much, but at the end of the day, it's what you make it!  Yes, the drinks are watered down and you only get one scoop of ice-cream in your cone but you're on holiday - who cares!
The hotel is basic and clean, what more could you want? 
We enjoyed ourselves, i would go back and so would my daughter.

My/Our Holiday Opinion: 

We had 2 rooms, 1 studio which was spacious and clean with small kitchen area, with full size fridge and 2 ring cooker, and a balcony.  The other room was a 1 bedroom, only slightly bigger but with a separate bedroom.  Both had sofa and pull out beds for the kids which were able to stay out all the time without taking up too much space.
We found the food lovely, every night is themed and there is plenty of choice and plenty of it, but the menu is the same every week, dining hall is calm as you are seen to your table and then help yourself, there is a small section for the kids as well.

The pool is very large and plenty of sunbed,BUT we were up by 7.00 to put our towels on!! even though this is not allowed if you dont you will not get a sunbed!The pool is safe as it shelves gently as it gets deeper.Some days were a bit murky though and there is a separate pool for volley ball and games.  We booked the swim kids with George who is brilliant and our non swimmers are quite competent swimmers now thanks to her.  The entertainment is run by Hannah and Craig who try their best, during the day it is the usual darts, water polo etc, but the evenings are passable along with the all inclusive drink!! Bingo is great fun especially the flyer on a Saturday! George in the pool bar is a real character, especially if you ask for a tea or coffee, well worth a wind up!! 

Although a bit out of the way there are plenty of buses just up from the hotel to go to either the harbour or Coral Bay, which we found disappointing, glad we didn't stay at that resort! Just a word about the water park, you are not allowed to take your own food, which we did, not knowing, they do have a corkage price of 5 cyprus pounds per person, only if you get caught,of course!

Found the whole island very expensive as you only get 80 cents to our pound on agood day!We had a brilliant holiday, weather was fantastic, up in 40s most days, but all our kids had ear infections, which seemed to be the norm when we were there, almost an epidemic as the doctor said. So if you are prone to ear trouble take care as the costs soon mount up, what with presciptions, taxis etc. Wouldn't go back to Eleni as our one main gripe was there were no other nationalities, which we are used to on holiday and quite like, but maybe thats just us. A good, safe family hotel with friendly helpful staff, even when asking for change for the blessed arcade games!!

My/Our Holiday Opinion: 

Arrived at the Eleni Apartments and was really chuffed, spacious studio room with kettle, toaster and full kitchen utensils that's for those who like to cook.  All equipment looked new.  Room was spotless and was cleaned several times in the week we were staying there.  We had a balcony overlooking the pool, which was also spacious.

Was a bit weary about going there due to the location, this was not a problem as getting a bus or a taxi to i.e. the Harbour or the other way to Coral Bay was hassle free.  Apartments are in a nice location its really quite theres just a handful of Restaurants close by and a supermarket up the road. Not much difference price wise with the on site supermarket.  There is also the choice to go all-inclusive, half board, or BB, which works out reasonable.  However we prefer not to stay onsite, entertainment seemed a bit naff but ok for younger children who don't want to venture far.

We had a breakfast at the poolside bar on the first day which was not much good. Coffee was in a plastic cup.  Also alcoholic drinks are not of the full strength.  So avoid food/drink unless you go all inclusive, as they seem to get a good deal.  Most people seemed to be.

Coral bay is beautiful; the snack bar is really nice catch the number 15 bus that is quite frequent.  Nice restaurants at the Harbour, Flamingo's.

Water Park is a big rip off; you can also get the number 15 bus there but opposite direction.  There are about 5 rides in total; this is more suitable for under 10's I really would not bother.  It cost us £60.00 sterling good job we had credit card on us.

Pool area got really crowded so we stayed on the grass area at the back of the complex which has brilliant views of the sea, there is also a path that leads down to a rocky area not quite a sandy beach the waves crash, which is a lovely walk.

All in all had a brill time, people really nice.  You won't be disappointed.

We went for 2 weeks to the Eleni in early july it was ace!!!! my opinions:

Food: As we were all inclusive we ate at the hotel every night and found something different every night. They have different themes each night and always an english selection e.g chips, roast meats and traditional grandma's puds like apple pie etc. I'm real fussy but found loads to eat every night except from chinese night but thats just my opinion.

Resort: There's nothing much around the Eleni except the 2 mini markets but other things are about a 20 minute walk away.

Pool: Whilst we were there, there was a small problem in the large pool due to the filter system bringing all the stuff up out of it and someone vomiting. It was disgusting smell and sight and the pool was shut for almost 2 days their excuse was that the cleaner didnt work on weekends !!!!???? Otherwise though it is great. 2 other pools to use: kids and activities both really nice. the water can be cold but its what you need when the weather is 30/40 degrees. warms up throughout the day.

entertainment: Hannah and Craig do a great job, most nights really good. Monday and Tuesday nights can be a bore (cypriot and folk dancing) but other nights were great. karaoke seemed to take ages and i waited 2 hours to sing after some people had sang up to 3 and 4 times!! daytime activities are good, waterpolo and watervolleyball are great fun and you cant miss the others.Swim Kids is a complete must. My little sister is 7 and has always been scared of the water e.g jumping in, goin under. After a few of George's lessons she was jumping in,going under, swimming front crawl. She is soooo nice aswell.

Reps: The reps seem to be nice but sometimes useless. They didn't seem to do much about the pool situation at all. OTHERWISE OK.

Rooms are basic but fine, maids are very quick and clean up as much as they can. They sometimes moved a few of our things which got on our nerves but that was soon resolved.
Overall i loved the Eleni and will be going back in the future !! :)

After reading the reviews on this site I was more than a little worried as to what we might find! However I feel i must wright this review to highlight what an amazing holiday we had and what a fantastic place it is! 

My partner and I had a very spacious and sparklingly clean appartement with excellent air con. a lovely view from our apartement balcony too. The food was very nice plenty of variety and a great range of drinks too a  definate for all inclusive! The location was good for us as we had no problem with buses however if i had children im not sure it would be so easy and it is a way from the town, that said you have your own privacy away from the hustle and bustle! 

There is a small beach close to the resort however not ideal for children as quite rocky but a number of beaches around coral bay which are stunning that is if you can tear yourself away from the pool which is fantastic! There are lots of tours and outings to take part in which are definately worth it especially the waterparks! All in all it is a beautiful place and the staff and resort itself were excellent you wont want to come home! Entertainment not great and evenings are very child orientated so good for families otherwise there are plenty of local bars and paphos is buzzing at night. 

Dont worry about this resort we loved it!!

My/Our Holiday Opinion: 

Booked this holiday as a last minute spur of the moment trip without really looking into the hotel or the area. It was in the brochure as a 4* hotel and I have to say, although the accomodation was nice, it was a little under what I would have expected for 4* and for the price. It is also a little 'out of the way' - looking for a relaxing holiday we didnt mind but be warned there are no bars or restaurants nearby - you will have to catch a bus to Papho for anything like this - its not within walking distance - we know, we tried! Buses are cheap and run fairly regularly but this resort is not for you if you like to be in the town centre with all amenities close to hand. I think there was one shop nearby and nothing much to see.

We went all-inclusive, I would advise this as Cyprus really suprised us with how expensive it was and we have travelled a bit! A can of coke, we worked out, cost me about £1.70! The  restaurant had different 'themes' for every night of the week - we had BBQ night, Carvery night, Greek night etc but there were some staple things for fussy eaters like rice, vegetables, chips etc. The food in the poolside bar was really good too, we worked our way through the whole menu there in the week - from burgers to Spaghetti Bolognese!

Pool area was nice, we never had a problem getting a sunbed with a parasol. Towards the end of the week we had some idiots jumping off the rock water feature into the pool and as there is no lifeguard this doesnt get stopped unless you shout at them yourselves.

We went at the end of June and the temperature was in the 40s every day. Air conditioning is available but you have to put a ten pound deposit for the remote control. It doesnt work at all without it -  we tried standing on chairs and pushing the buttons! You do get your money back though with no quibbles so I highly recommend you do this the first day.

We went with First Choice and went on a couple of excursions. Troodos Mountains and Kykos Monastery - absolutely gorgeous but not for the fainthearted - our coach broke down on a mountain bend some 4000m up with a sheer drop to one side and we had to wait for a replacement coach to come fetch us. Note to women if you do go - wear something below your knees and take something to cover your shoulders or you wont be allowed in the Monastery. Also took the option of a boat trip supposedly up the coast - in reality we went down the coast and stopped after about an hour in a harbour where we were told we would be staying for the day (5 hours!) due to the roughness of the sea. Was able to go into the sea and swim for a bit which was lovely and we managed to talk the paragliding guy with a speedboat into taking us back to Papho for a couple of pounds. Also went on the trip to Nicosia - very highyl recommended - took our passports and were able to go over the Turkish border which was amazing.

Brilliant holiday, top class tour operators, lovely hotel staff but a little pricey and out of the way. Enjoyed but would not return.

having read very negative reviews on eleni had to put in some good feedback. 

eleni is very much out of the way, but on a direct bus route, however the buses are usually full.  really had a great 2 weeks here and would go back tomorrow.  George who runs the swim kids was fantastic, she had my 11 year old son swimming underwater within 2 lessons, the kids club girls were great, Harry my 8 year old adored them.  

The entertainment was good night and day, Craig and Hannah do a very good job, they can only do a good job though if people are prepared to participate in the daytime activities.  I would not recommend the jolly roger pirate ship, we paid £61.00 for 2 adults and 2 kids and it was a complete and utter waste of money.  Coral Bay is nice to visit.  

The harbour is lovely, just be careful if you start looking at things in shops you get pounced upon and pushed into buying things.  Also beware of the dreaded TIMESHARE conmen that are out there, scratchcards are given to you and amazingly you have won either a holiday, camcorder or £1.000 but you must claim it now, they apparently only give 3 star prizes away a day, we actually witnessed a lot more that 3 been won.  

Overall a great holiday we have all come back ready to go again and will certainly visit eleni again.  If you are worrying about going dont it was lovelyand the weather was fantastis not dropping much below 35 degrees everyday......Heaven.  Enjoy your holiday!!!

We chose the Eleni Village because of the good reviews, we went in a party of 18. All ages from 2years to 47 years.

Brilliant from day one. We will have to mention Craig and Hannah, for the daily competitions and activities as us B'mouth boys won everything!! The accomodation was excellent and very clean, the pool was very clean and child friendly. 

The snack bar was excellent and George the barman was very friendly and entertaining. The main restaurant was supberb with lovely food and friendly staff. At evening time, again, Craig and Hannah kept the entertainment flowing, involving kids and adults alike. The bar staff were friendly and cheerful. There is a small mini-market on site where you can buy anything that you will need, including English tea-bags!!

We would recommend this holiday for anybody, young or old. We also got invovled with a group of people from Essex who also enjoyed their holiday at the Eleni Village. There are many places to visit off site, but plenty to do on site. Weather was fantastic , between 30 and 40 degrees every day. 

HIGHLY RECOMMENED.

Like others I was a bit worried what we had let ourselves on for when I read some of the reviews on this website but we found the Eleni a really nice hotel and would recommend to any family.

The food was excellent (and I'm a fussy eater) - There is a different theme each night (buffet style) which is nice as some hotel menus can be a bit repetitive.  Definately suggest All inclusive as there are not many restaurants or bars near the hotel. Kids club was great and my 3 year old loved going.  Pool was also great for her as it is a gradual slope which stays shallow for the majority of the pool and a kids pool.

We were almost fearing what would greet after reading the reviews that have been placed on the site. 

We have just returned from spending a week at the Eleni Resort and can only recommend it to people.

The accommodation was clean, the food was good, plentiful and very varied (and hot), the staff were friendly and helpful.
There was entertainment every night if you wanted to participate in this.

We have stayed in 4* accommodation before in Cyprus and the Eleni far exceeded the standards we received there.

Everything that is shown in the brochure applies to the accommodation, facilities etc.  We were not disappointed by anything during our holiday from our departure from Bristol to our return.

Just got back from a week All Inclusive at the Eleni. Would I go back? - YES.
It's not brilliant but it's good.In short -

HOTEL - poor location surrounded by other hotels,villas but only one shop in the hotel and one outside.They sell the basics(lilos,food,suncream)but if you want to gift shop get the buses,they are frequent,cheap & bus stop is nearby to get to Coral Bay or Pathos. Or walk 1/2 mile towards Coral Bay and there are a couple of Car Hire shops.We hired one for 2 days (don't hire from your rep - far more expensive!) Our room was very good size,furniture was dated but perfectly functional. If you dont want ants dont leave food or crumbs about.My sister lives in Cyprus and has the same problem in her house - keep food in the fridge or in bags & clean up your mess. Simple!

STAFF - very friendly and helpful. Restaurant staff remembered us every day,Bar Staff were quick and willing to chat,Cleaners efficient and polite. Receptionists polite & helpful.We were lucky the hotel was not full so we had NO QUEUES for food or drink all week!

SWIMMING POOL - Nice Large size,easy to get in as it starts at 6" in shallow end and slopes away gradually to deep end.Its not heated but we were in it every day and so were loads of others. NO LIFEGUARD ON DUTY but signs do say this. They're your kids so you look after them - I didn't have any problem with this. The space around the pool is not over large, I would imagine it gets a bit crowded when the hotel is full up.But there are plenty of quiet loungers for sunbathing behind the snack bar on the grass.

FOOD - Superb for a 2/3 star hotel. Excellent range every day,good quality meat used,loads of salads,rice,hot meals.
Pool snack bar did very good range as well.Only gripe was no hot food in the late evening.Only ham/cheese sandwiches available.

ENTERTAINMENT - Poor - nice people but seemed to lack enthusiasm. Normal daytime darts,waterpolo,table tennis competitions to keep us occupied but the evening shows were poor. Kids disco was 5 songs/45 minutes then a line and a house of Bingo then the "main event" - Dancers/FireEater/Mr Eleni/Karaaookkee etc all poor quality. Watchable as you down the All Inclusive drinks but not that good. Background music from !11pm - midnight when bar shuts.A bit Butlin ish but lacking the quality.

If you want a 4/5 star hotel and your a fussy person don't go here (pay more and go elsewhere)- its a good quality 2/3 star with some good points and some bad. We got what we expected at a good price and we had a good week. Thank you Eleni!

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

We have just got back ( May 18-June 1) and had an absolute fab time!! We all loved it.

Firstly it is a long flight and Paphos airport is very dis-organised to say the least but so worth it.

The hotel was generally ok.It is a small establishment and friendly with UK guests only. We made some fab friends. Pools were lovely and the water temperature was fine- much needed due to the heat some days. Seemed to be clean enough and lots of floats etc for the water.

Our room was ok too. Basic but had self catering facilities and to be honest we weren't in the room enough to need anything else. We had maid service most days and air con is a must. (CYP£10 but you get this back when you leave) Yes we did have a problem with ants but hey it is a hot country and if you complain they will give you a spray and that sorted the prob out.

Entertainment was generally ok. Hannah and Craig tried very hard and we had some good laughs. They also provided us with sporting activites through the day such as water volley ball- i loved this!!
Kids club reps were a godsend!! Our kids loved going to kids club and it was a break for us. All the girls are lovely and caring and do a good job. Also swim kids is a must. Our kids come on leaps and bounds. George is fab with them and again our kids loved her!

Food, no probs with this. Plenty to go around, served hot and a good variety. Being all inclusive we did find we ate far too much and at one point got fed up of eating!! Snack bar served some lovely scran too. We found the drink ok and even managed a few hangovers!! The bar staff were very friendly and entertaining though the bar manager who we named Spock due to his ears, is a total miserable sod. Nobody liked the guy and on our last night we all jumped into the pool in an attempt to get him in. He totally flipped!! Very amusing. We all tried very hard to get him in but he was having none of it. Maybe somebody else can try?!!

Places to visit, definately Paphos water Park, Troodus mountains are gorgeous but its a long drive and the roads are tiny and you can become very car sick! Time elevater in Limosol is brilliant, kids will love it.

So to sum it up, we really loved it. We had a fab time, kids didn't want to come home. Cyprus is generally expensive and going all inclusive is a very good idea. We drank and ate far too much but have a fab tan and some lovely memories. We made good friends and i'm totally depressed being back home now!! Can't wait to come back!! Enjoy yours!!

I had the misfortune of residing in the eleni for the first week in may. I was in cyprus for a wedding, the wedding was in The Coral Bay Hotel, i had booked into the eleni because of the closeness to the resort of coral bay and to paphos town, roughly 3 miles from each. 

Now back to the eleni, it was awful, the pool was a good size but frozen at all times, the apartments were very basic with an awful lot of ants, and now to the lounge, bar and entertainment. EVERY drink was water-downed and it was very expensive, when you convert the price of a pint back into euros it was dearer than a pint at home in Dublin, and lets not forget that Dublin came in the top two or three in a survey to find the most expensive cities in europe recently. There was a queue at the bar nearly every time you wanted a drink, the seating was all garden furniture, not very comfortable after a few water-downed pints, i even ordered a tia maria at one stage to see if it had been watered down, and guess what.... it tasted like ribena. when i challenged the barman about this, i was basically laughed at. 

The entertainment was absolutely dreadful, not even the kids mere entertained, and it seemed to be the same every two days, it was either a table quiz, bingo or kareoke that took 4 or 5 minutes between each song. Then you try to get away from it but what they didn't tell you was that the bus service stops at 7pm, now your using taxis, now remember that paphos is roughly only 3 miles away and it was working out about 8 cypriot pounds, roughly 15 euros,, thats 30 euros a nite already before you even eat or have a drink. 

We ended up eating across the road in pepperoni pizza for the last few nites, otherwise i think we would have gone mad, oh by the way the restaurant in the eleni was brutal, it was buffet style but there was never enough food at any one time and if it was it was cold and it closes at 9:30. My other little complaint which is my own opinion was that if you like a mixed crowd, dont go to eleni, because for me there was too many english, and i found there behaviour very intimidating, especially with drink taken, when the parents were drinking their kids seemed to be let run free and wild, showing no respect whatsoever to other guests. If i can leave you with piece of advice, if you want to have a good holiday......I would not recommend the Eleni Holiday Village.

Just got back from a week at Eleni. Im absolutely amazed to read any good reviews of this hotel - but have come to the conclusion that you can only base your opinion on what youve had before.

My first opinion was very poor on arrival lots of people got off the coach with us - really long queue which luckily we were near the front of but the unlucky ones at the back had a lengthy wait as there was only 1 person on reception and as the entertainment bar is in the same room as reception all the people in the bar just sat and stared. Id read on 1 of the reviews not to leave all of the passports as they should only need 1 so I handed over 1 and he said "I want them all" so I said "oh sorry the lady on the bus said you should only need one" and he looked at me really condesendingly and said "she runs the holiday company - I run the hotel". So I was really put off straight away.

We got to the room which to be fair was ok - quite spacious and even though we were all inclusive - still had self catering facilities which was nice to have a fridge etc.

After a long journey and by the time we arrived it was too late to eat - we were tired so we put the tv on and the display said "locked" so we couldnt watch the tv and it was really cold in the room so we tried to turn the air conditioning up to warm but it didnt work!!! I was wondering where we had come to !! and thinking that 4 star most definately did not spring to mind which I am especially annoyed about because we would not have booked this hotel had it had a realistic star rating which would probably have scraped a 3 at the most.

On attending the welcome meeting the following morning we were advised that we had to pay to use the tv and pay to use the air conditioning. I have been to many places before and many hotels and up until eleni i was yet to find one where I had to pay extra for such basic expectations. So we went and paid or the remote control for both applicances and took them back.

On the plus side the pool area was nice - although icy cold and completely impossible to get into.

I really disliked the food - it was like a school canteen-very repetitive and nearly always cold. To be fair though my husband thought it was ok. We found it absolutely infuriating that the food at the snack bar was better - still very basic - but better than the restaurant yet althiough we were "allowed" to eat at it we could only use it when the restaurant was closed i.e after 3pm. So I just waited until then most days. But still had to eat their for evening dinner.

Now onto the most infuriating part of my holiday was (and I have not seen it mentioned on any other review which Im seriously amazed about) in the games are which is in the outside eating area - there was a table top game - you know one of the sort where you each have a thing in your hand and you slide a disc to each other and try to get the disc to go into the "goal". I honestly could have shoved the handpiece where the sun dont shine. Now I appreciate this sounds very trivial but when you can hear it when you are sunbathing - when you are eating - but most importantly at 2am when you are trying to sleep and 9am in the morning when you are trying to have a lie in it becomes an absolute chore - I work very hard and take several holidays a year for relaxation and to spend time with my family away from day to day stresses and this noice was constantly going on - it drve me MAD !!! 

The entertainment is the worst I have ever seen in a hotel = the cyprus dancers had about as much enthusiasm as I had going to work on the Monday morning after I got back - and the singers were so cr*p they were funny. The rest of the entertainment was basically the girl from the hotel who wouldnt inspire anyone to do anything.

After 3 days of being really cold at night I went back to reception to advise them my air conditioning wasnt working and the lady said "its because from the 1st april there is now a daily charge of 2.50. So I said id paid that and she looked at her sheet and said no I hadnt. I told her id been to reception and told them I wanted air conditioning and paid some money and therefore received a remote control so she said yes but id not paid the £2.50 per day. I was amazed that I had been specially to pay for air conditioning - given the remote control yet never told until 3 days of waking up in the night freezing that I need to pay even more.. I told her to forget it.

As im sure youve gathered I will most definately not be returning EVER to this establishment and im most disappointed in First Choice for giving it the rating that caused us to book. Especially seen as we've also booked to go to Cuba and Lanzarote through them for later in the year.

The laughable thing is while we were sunbathing one day one of the representatibes from the hotel company "aqua sol" came round and tried to get us to visit another hotel from the same rang in Coral Bay so that we then wouldnt hesitate to recommend the range of hotels to our family and friends. We didnt tell her at any point that we were unhappy with eleni (now referred to in our house has Heleni !!!) yet she said to us "we wouldnt want you to judge our hotels based on this one as im sure you'll agree that theres some serious development needed here. I felt like telling her to get lost - and how dare she me want to go to another hotel and then tell all my friends that the company have fantastic hotels when d id just spent a week in one of the worst hotels ive ever stayed in.

MY ADVICE - DONT BOOK!!!! PLEASE DONT BOOK !

We were a bit worried about our holiday due to the bad reviews, but upon arrival we were reasssured as the hotel staff were helpful and very freindly. The accommodation was very clean and modern and even though we were all inclusive we had all the ammeneties for self catering.

We went with two young children who enjoyed themselves so much they didnt want to leave. The entertainment was very good and got people involved in the activities which brought people of all ages to get to know each other and had a good holiday. By the end of the holiday we knew everyone and had the best time. We are defenately going to go again next year.

The food was very good, and all you can eat and drink made the perfect relaxing holiday.
Places to visit : the tomb of the kings only 75c pp children free. very interesting to explore the tombs.
:troodos moutains beautiful.
:the water park is not open in the winter months but it is a must when season starts plenty of fun for all the family and very cheap. Just get on the paphos bus and it will take you right outside.
Ignore the bad reviews this is an excellent holiday destination.

My/Our Holiday Opinion: 

We went on an off-season ,last minute deal from First Choice and just like the last one found that their idea of 4* is certainly different from mine. We went self catering and the apartments were basic but relatively clean (except one of our blankets had a huge unidentifiable stain on it that had been turned over to conceal - they changed it for us)
This seems to be yet another resort that gains its stars by having gyms, indoor pools etc and not by their accomodation!

There was also an ant problem that other reviewers have mentioned which remained unchecked.  On ascertaining that the village was indeed quite a bit out of Paphos,we thought about upgrading to AI but after having one drink decided against it - I cant stand flat coke from a fountain!  

There was good food to be had nearby - in the Angelica and Pepperoni Pizza and 100 yards further on there is a small restaurant/bar called El Paso where you were given a very warm welcome (dishes of crisps on the bar - when quiet) and delicious food! We returned there several times. Their live music on Monday was excellent and they were packed out on football nights - if thats your thing!

We took the advice of one reviewer who suggested the St George next to Eleni and it was indeed excellent. We enjoyed their entertainment on a couple of nights on comfy leather couches - its a Thomson 5T!
It certainly made the Eleni look shabby. We both reconed the Eleni was only worth 3* max, but okay as somewhere to put your head down.

We didn't mind being out of Paphos because there is a good bus service (now 70 cents), but in March they stopped running at about 5pm. They run about every 20 mins. a 10 or 15 takes you into Paphos or along to Coral Bay - 10mins. We walked into Paphos by the coast once which took 1 3/4  hrs but you need trainers as its rough and dusty! Tip - if you are going to the market from Eleni find another couple to share a taxi as it costs £4 and takes 5 mins, only 30cents more each- the bus journey takes 20mins+ and you may have to wait up to 40 mins for the correct bus.

wouldn't go back to the Eleni but you don't expect too much from a cheepie deal - feel sorry for those that pay full price and think they are going to luxury!

My family and I decided to return to Cyprus having been there previously.
For the second visit I chose the Eleni Holiday Resort Apartments (all inclusive) because of the reviews given by First Choice and visitors of this site..
Upon arrival first impression was not bad at all. As expected, the staff were friendly and helpful. You may have your passports taken from you upon arrival, this is only register your details in slow time and will be passed back to you the next day.
Apartments were adequate and had the necessary essentials if you decided to go self-catering, however the apartments were due for freshening up.

The complex was clean and tidy good size outside pool, not heated. Indoor pool is small but heated.
Other facilities/activities were limited but didn't matter much because we didn't stay in the complex during the day.
Food in the resort was varied and very good, can't fault the service nor the quality. If you are considering eating out, Pathos is 10 mins away with an excellent selection of bars and restaurants. Be advised Cyprus is not cheap, a like for like meal is very much like dining at home cost wise.
Drinks in the resort bar are expensive if you are self catering, on average £3 English for a cocktail of locally produced alcohol (low percent proof) , we were all inclusive and would suggest if you like a drink or two and you have kids its worth it.

Now my pet hate, for those of you reading this review, you may believe this makes the family holiday, well apologies it nearly ruined mine. The Entertainment. Rubbish, Awful, Embarrassing, if you dislike Bingo, Karaoke and being part of the entertainment stay away. I felt embarrassed for those unfortunate enough who were dragged out to perform, I agree its up to those individuals to say no but its to late when the lights are on you and the rest of the holiday makers are shoving you out on stage, of course I was grateful because it wasn't me.
When will these holiday companies wake up and realise some of us don't appreciate this style of entertainment. When I go on holiday I believe I should be entertained not be the entertainment. Unfortunately due to the time of year (February) the only bar open was also the entertainments room, other times you would be able to escape to the outside bars. 

So finally if you are looking for somewhere to stay, it was not bad at all worth consideration. Happy Holidays.

we were a bit apprehensive before going as reviews were mixed and we had a late deal.

we were delighted with the rooms plenty of space drawers and wardrobes with coathangers . the weather let us down a bit but we still wandered about .the food exellent. the drinks were a bit on the week side,we put that down to being all inclusive we have found in other places that is the norm.the staff very polite and helpful.we did not have to vacate till 12 noon our flight home was departing the hotel at 3-45.
we had a samll problem with ants but asked for the tops to be cleaned and they were that was on our last day.
the indoor pool was warm to swim.

2 things which could be altered i think there is no dry area to change in the indoor pool area after your shower.also there is no quite place to have a drink if you dont want to listen to the kids disco ,or bingo,. you do have to pay a deposit for air conditning and tv control also safe key but its a deposit so refundable, there was a lady in the holtel promoting the sale of appartments (time share) we went but had no intensions of buying into it but we recieved £25 cyprus  cash for going .well worth it for 1 1/2 hours if more people claimed the cash i'm sure they would stop it.  norma

DO NOT book these apartments, everything about them is average and not 4* as indicated. Soft drink are poor, alcohol is watered down, after a week of staying there you realise how poor the food really is, we were two weeks all-inclusive at a cost of £3,000 and we felted robbed. the entertainment was a joke and the majority of the staff we unfriendly unless you were paying for the drinks and food, the room were clean but the towel smelt of sweat as soon as theu were wet, as a family we were dissappointed and disgusted with the service.

We hired a car to get out of the place because we would have gone mad, troodos mountains are fantastic, coral bay day or night is fab, paphos harbour is a good day out but watch out for TIMESHARE scratchcards. Cyprus is fabulous for the weather and culture and scenery but it is expensive, we would go back to Cyprus in a flash BUT NOT the eleni village holiday apts.

The Eleni is fantastic, the food is superb,
the rooms are spotlessly clean as is the pool. We paid for swimming lessons for our grandaughter it cost 20 cyprus pounds and after 5 lessons, she was swimming!! I went with my neice and her 3 children and her youngest (4yrs) was also swimming, best £20 I have ever spent!! Georgina you are fantastic.

The Jolly Roger Pirate ship day out was also brilliant, the kids and adults will love it, they greet the children with a present, put on magic shows, and the lunch provided was brilliant. A wonderful day out and value for money.

Paphos water park was also a brilliant day out, something for everyone, well worth going.

All in all it was a wonderful holiday, the only gripe was that some of the waitresses' and waiters, were quite miserable as if everything was too much trouble.

The entertainment is OK better than previous holidays, and again the children loved it, also the usual bingo, quiz night, karaoke etc.

I would recommend the Eleni, and we are definately considering going back next year. A nice surprise was the desserts, along with lots of creamy concoctions, we were served chocolate pudding and custard, apple pie and custard and for those that liked it, bread and butter pudding, the diet starts now!!!

I've just returned from the Eleni Holiday Village (really dunno why they call it that..), we went out for a week all-inclusive for a friend's wedding. We stayed mostly in the complex as:
A)We were all inclusive (I would say this is the only option)
B)Cyprus seemed quite expensive
C)We have a little baby and this was our first holiday in 18 months so we just wanted to kick back and r-e-l-a-x!

We went with our 7-month-old daughter, her first trip abroad (next time we get her a seat on the plane, 4 hours with a baby on your lap is NOT that much fun).

We were very worried about being able to get baby supplies ie: food, nappies etc (my wife tried to pack 2 weeks worth of food, 3 weeks of nappies etc for a weeks stay till I repacked the suitcase she was that nervous).
If your going away with a very small child just to let you know there is a Mothercare in Pafos which has the usual sort of stock and the shop by the main road does sell baby food (Heinz) but it's variety is limited (um.Lancashire Hotpot or Go-with-out really). The hotel food is.well my wife's a children nurse so everything has to be either home cooked or seemingly the most expensive premier baby food..;-)

First up I personally wouldn't have chosen the hotel/area as I prefer to be off the beaten track when I book a holiday but because it was for a wedding and we have a young baby we went with what the Bride & groom wanted.

Premises:
The Hotel it's self is quite new, it is probably one of the cleanest hotels I have ever been in (including the UK.mind you that ain't saying much!)
I wouldn't hesitate giving it 9/10 for cleanliness and state of repair. Although the ceiling above reception is abit disconcerting, as it's a bowl shaped "dent" and when you talk your voice sounds like it's coming from behind/to your left/right/EVERYWHERE.spooky.

Pools/Pool bar:
The pools are spectacular.
Ok that maybe abit over the top but we say the pool and surrounding areas cleaned near enough every day (HEY I didn't get up THAT early some mornings!) and the water was always clear without "bits" floating in it (I didn't see the indoor pool, it was too hot to be inside) and we had no worries allowing our baby to swim in it or be ducked under. It has a nice gradual pitch to the floor so it's quite safe for kids. The only moan is there is NO toilet near the pool or bar (we were ok as we were in a room next to the pool), which is a pain if you've had a drink/lying in the sun or the kids want to go NOW!

The "pool" bar is nice with great views of the sea and the pink flowers (???). The sunsets when we went were amazing although the grass area near the bar is where the topless sun bathers seem to be, abit difficult when your trying to eat & a 8 year old is sniggering.
The bar food is very good (although they got arsey when we asked for a Bacon cheese burger as we were "allowed" either bacon OR cheese in our burger.so we just ordered BOTH and only ate one smugly..they soon let us have both in one burger).
The beer (Keo) is DEFIANTLY watered down. They area is very kid friendly (except sometimes the topless sunbathing near the bar) & ALL the staff were great with the kids. Oh there's a cool climbing frame next to the pool bar so you may get noise if your rooms next door to it.

Talking of kids the Kids Club was apparently BRILLIANT. We had about 8-10 kids as part of the wedding party and they ALL loved the club. The swimming lesson bloke was EXCELLENT and they have the wee-ones till 11pm-ish.

Bars/Food:
I've covered the pool bar but the Paris "cocktail" bar was nice enough and the evening's entertainment was..as to be expected ;-)
Ok but I couldn't have stood it for 2 weeks.
The Paris bar is ok although they did take along time to get our drinks sometimes up to 20/30 mins (but we were a large group of people, 25 odd of us) so we started to order 2 or 3 drinks at a time so we could stock up but then they got REALLY arsey. After afew arguments we came to a compromise, basically we didn't take the mick and order LOADS of drinks and they served us quicker. We also started to tip them, it's amazing was a £20 odd tip (£1 each) once a night can do.
It was abit of a lottery on if you got the drink you ordered or not though also VERY importantly the juice they use is NOT fresh its like cordial stuff mixed in abit Slush Puppy type tank. It was drinkable but I can understand if people don't like it and as I've said the beer must have been watered down as I drank 7 pints over the course of one afternoon/evening and was stone cold sober!
The cocktails are variable in mixing, sometimes they're powerful and sometimes it just tastes like a cheepy 10 pence plastic cup drink. I drank enough of the Planters Punch one day that it had an effect on the colour of my.#ahem# lets just say I had a REAL shock when I went to the toilet!
The ice cream the kids get is FULL of colouring too. I mean REALLY full. The strawberry ice cream was a screaming pink/red & a few parents did say their kids did get hyper after eating it.
The actual food was ok. There was a lot of choice although some of the meat was abit ropey. Some people seem to expect holiday hotel food to be of home cooked/restaurant/fast food quality & if you've travelled abit you know it can be abit hit and miss. Food wise I'd say 5/10.

Summary
Overall I would say as we stayed in the hotel 90% of the time one week wasn't enough, 10 days would have been ok if you have a couple of days out and 2 weeks would be pushing it.
It is more a 2/3* hotel than a 4*. They do have the facilities of 4* but it's not quite right. I feel very sorry for the people who've paid £3,000 for a holiday here, as it isn't THAT nice and can understand why they aren't happy but a holiday is what you make it!
The staff are quite friendly but Reception can be abit snappy (but they do seem to be there ALL the time morning, noon and night). We had the pool bar booked for the evening wedding party then at 9pm they told us to move as they had to close. If it had been me I'd have gone mad but the bride & groom were fine about it. They seem to lack organisation.

Toal Overall..6/10.

Tips:
They also started to charge for Air Con' (£2.50 per day = £10 deposit for controller).
Don't lose your wristband as it's expensive to get a new one (about £3 sterling)even for kids.
Don't hire a car from the rep'. It's Eurohire (we have them over here in the UK) but expensive. there are MUCH cheaper alternatives but after the rest of the party had booked through them they turned up a day late. We HAD to have a car as were going diving in Larnka (100 miles away) so had to have the car on time.
Try to order 2 drinks at a time if you can (a cocktail + spirit). Especially if you want to get drunk!

Had a great time at Eleni Hotel Village and I will be returning next year for another stay.  The apartments were fantastic, very clean and spacious and a great view of the sea.  I was a bit worried about going to Eleni after seeing some of the reviews not being too great but assure me you will have a great time.

I went all inclusive and the food was great loads of variety so if you didnt like one dish there was always loads of choice.  The staff at the hotel were very helpful and polite, which made you feel very welcome especially Dinos (The Boss).  The entertainment was also very good from the first choice reps who tried there hardest to make you have a good time, also there was lots of daytime activites which keep you busy so you are not bored.  

Overall best holiday in years cant wait to return, very very highly recommeded.

First impressions of this Hotel were great, lovely and clean spacious and excellent well kept gardens. Staff on reception were really helpful and great with the kids.

POOL - Pool area is great especially if youve got little toddlers as its really shallow and theres a little pool and also a learner pool at the top. The only thing was the toilets i think with kids they could of been a bit closer to the pool area.

FOOD - Excellent food we were all inclusive and never had aything poor or cold. Good range of kids food as well and staff in resturant friendly. Was lovely one day to have a good roast dinner with a  carvery MMMMmm!

ACCOMODATION - excellent again, we were really close to the front part of the hotel, had lovely gardens outside the terrace. Rooms are big and maid service very good. Had a microwave and fridge etc in room which was handy. Did have some ants but nothing too bad.

ENTERTAINMENT AND LOCATION - The only thing that let this place down a bit was the entertainment there wasnt enough for the kids at night and was a bit repetitive if there for a fornight. Location of hotel is ok as well small beach at bottom of hotel and i mean small! nothing much around the hotel but short bus ride into Paphos is worth it.

We went for a friends wedding and the setting of the church etc was great really romantic. All in all we had a great time weather was scorching!!!!!great friendly staff and very clean would go back.

Eleni really does not merit a 4* rating in my opinion.  The rooms, though quite spacious, were spartan and austere.  Furnishings and décor were inferior.

Rooms inadequately equipped:  no ovenproof ware, no cook’s knife, no coffee percolator, or hair dryer.  Washing clothes was a problem because no clothes airers for wet swimming stuff.

For a 4* hotel we thought that entertainment was lacking.  We don’t mind ‘parlour type’ games and bingo from the animation team.  Audience participation activities are good fun.....for a while.  I want to enjoy professional performers most nights, not the other way round.  However Hannah, Craig and the team worked very, very hard.

Do book a late checkout if you have a return night flight.  You have to leave your rooms by 10 a.m. Facilities are rudimentary.  Many families were unhappy about this on their departures.

I agree with other contributor’s comments, re the drinks.  I agree that they tasted ‘watered down’ and were inferior, and at maximum prices.

Food was very  good.  Absolutely no complaints.  There was a good offer to change to HB or FB on arrival, but it was 4 days consecutively. 

Good value, plain food also available at Angelika’s, and Pizza Pepperoni.  Family of 4 (£45 inc. drinks!)

Water sports well at Coral Bay Beach Resort.  Parascending £20 for 10 mins, pedaloes- £10, Banana boats, Kayaks £5, jet ski £33.  Scuba courses too.  Staff was very well organised and friendly.

If you want a holiday with fantastic clean beaches go to Fuerteventura next hol!

Avoid the market at all costs, unless you want to be a celebrity for the day.  Hassle, hassle, hassle.

Jeep Safari and Aphrodite Waterpark excellent.  Book in advance at any travel agent and save money!  But not always.  Compare Reps price first.

Internet facilities at the Akteon Village Aqua Sol 5 minutes walk away.  (sister hotel)  Turn right out of Eleni; Turn right again, straight in front of you).  50 cents for 6 minutes.  Proper keyboard.  Very useful indeed.

Do hire a car – definitely worthwhile.  Bus service frequent and cheap.  50 cents anywhere.  Kids under 6 free.

If you’re planning to get new glasses soon, buy them here!  Much less expensive than the UK.

Buy your gifts in Jaspers Supermarket.  We found all the things we bought in the market in town cheaper here!  Save you legs!

I have just returned from a two-week holiday in Cyprus taken with my wife and two children at the Eleni Holiday Village. I must make you aware of how utterly disappointed and disgusted I am with the holiday which we received.

My expectation from an investment of £3500 for a family holiday is not what we received.

Main points are as follows:

On arrival it was obvious from the first impression that this property was a basic standard more in keeping with an average 2/3* property and not as the brochure described as a 4*.

We were told on arrival that a deposit was required for the Air conditioning to work and also the Television and a further deposit for the Safe deposit however they were too busy and we had to go back an hour later. With temperatures in excess of 40 degrees and two very tired children a sweltering hot room to arrive into was not what we would expect from a quality property. It was also not possible to leave the air conditioning running when you left the room and at a 4* standard I would not expect this.

We were on an all inclusive basis as this had worked well in the past at other resorts, however we were given a document which went on to list everything we were not allowed to do on the all inclusive basis and this included taking a simple coffee out of the Restaurant onto the terrace or indeed a drink after dinner had to be consumed within the confines of the restaurant.

The food was always buffet style as anticipated however quantity did not make up for the poor quality of what we received. To give you an example of the dishes available and how they were described: Boiled fish, "Mushed" potatoes, fried cauliflower for breakfast, only tinned and frozen vegetables were ever used, the meat was inedible as it was fatty and tough. Breakfast was always a challenge as every day there was a shortage of staff leading to a knock on effect of no cups for coffee, no glasses, no juice, no milk, no cereal etc.

The staff appeared to treat the "all inclusive" guests as second-class citizens not only constantly serving paying guest first making us wait up to 30 minutes for a drink but also the food and beverage offering and presentation were very different.

There was a "Yob" culture within the property with large groups of youths and adults drinking all day which resulted in swearing and rowdy behaviour around the pool area through the day and in the bar at night. As a result every afternoon there would be "dive bombing" session off the water feature into the pool below where the children were swimming. This was also highlighted on one particular evening during the Karaoke when the Entertainment Manager told everyone not to sing the "naughty words" of the song which was: WHO THE F**K IS ALICE but of course they did! The behaviour was not once checked by any of the reps or hotel management to the extent that on one occasion there was a full-on fight between two men in the pool which had to be broken up by other guests whilst children looked on.

There was no entertainment during the day for the older children as all of the daytime activities were aimed at the adults

On FOUR separate occasions the pool had to be closed due to human excrement in the water.

The quality of the evening entertainment was exceptionally poor

There were no facilities within the property or within the vicinity to withdraw cash from the Bank. The nearest bank was an £8 return taxi fare.

It is important to have reps that have good local knowledge, so why when we booked our excursion to a water park through the rep were we not advised that the local busses are particularly full at certain times of the morning and that you may wish to take a taxi or set off early. We were made to wait over an hour in 40 degree heat with two children whilst bus after bus past us by, only to find that the bus drops you off half a mile from the park entrance but according to the rep it is was just outside.

Two days from the end of the holiday my eldest son's wristband disintegrated and broke in the water, when we spoke to the hotel reception we were told he must have broken it on purpose and would have to pay to have it replaced. After two weeks of wear and tear all the wristbands were close to breaking however we were made to pay, as my son would not be able to eat or drink for the remainder of the holiday.

After making my initial complaint to the First Choice representative my expectation was that there would be further check by her to ascertain if there had been any improvement however this did not happen and it is now obvious that this was symptomatic of the whole situation.

I have tried to be as succinct as possible however as you can see by the very nature of this complaint this is not easily summarised. The Management of this property was non evident, we selected this holiday as it was recommended by your staff as a family 4 star complex. Comparing this holiday with other holidays we have taken with First Choice also booked through you, firstly it did not offer value for money at £3500, we planned this holiday in November 2003 and for the last 10 months we have looked forward to returning to Cyprus. Instead we have come back from holiday feeling bitter and completely frustrated that the catalogue of events ruined our precious time together as a family.

We place our trust both in you and the travel company to take care of our investment by providing us with what the brochure, First Choice and the representative in the resort promise however this has in no way been met. As a result of this situation we resorted to hiring a car to escape the complex, spending several days away as we did not want to have to face the same situation day after day. This then added to the cost of the holiday both car hire and meals out.

Just returned from 2 weeks All Inclusive at the The Eleni holiday village, what a fantastic time we have had. The weather was fantastic and hot.

The apartment was very spacious and so well equipped, with a full dinner service and cutlery. Not that you needed to use this as the food in the restaurant was excellant with plenty of choice. Especially the roast dinner served once a week.

The pools are great, with 1 for sports activities, one very long rectangular main pool and one baby pool. All three were very clean and tidy. There were lots of sun beds around pool and on a grassed area at the bottom of hotel over looking the sea. Next to this grassed area is a little tikes climbing frame with slides which my son spent many an afternoon going up and down.

The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was spacious and clean. There are plenty of high chairs for the little ones, they also cover the tray in cling film when cleaned to prevent them getting dirty before they are used again, which I was very impressed with.

There is a laundry room on the lower gound in the main building, which costs £1.50 for a wash and £1.00 for drying. Well worth taking less clothes and wash them whilst there, then you have more room for presents and cheap fags on the way home.

The kids club was fantastic, Emma and Lewis had great fun. Nicola, Emma and Stephanie worked very hard doing a variety of activities and parties for the children. This also included a twice a week trip to the local restaurant with the children, to have dinner and then a pyjama club watching video's (five hours in all) all for 6 cy pounds well worth it. Lewis attended the Creche and had lots of fun with everyone, he loved the little car, slide and pretend cooker, he also came home with an abundance of scribbles and drawings every day. There was also mini disco every night which was fun for every one.

My daughter learn't to swim with 10 lessons from Anthony the Swim Kids instructor, what a fantastic guy, when Emma went to her first lesson she was reluctant to put her face in the water or jump in, buy the end of the 10 lessons, she was swimming front crawl, backstroke, jumping in, swimming with face in water and diving down to collect plastic fish from bottom of pool. Anthony was so patient with all the children and gave the great encouragement and what great results he got. A great guy.
 
The Eleni is approx 6 km from Paphos, which some people find a problem but there are 2 buses (no 10 & no 15) on the main road that run every 10-15 mins in to the main town. It takes about approx 20 minutes and costs 50 cents. On your return journey look out for the Laura hotel, lit up in red at night, this is where you need to get off.

The evening entertainment was in the Paris bar and was excellent with something for everyone.

On the way home we booked ourselves into the VIP lounge at Paphos Airport, at £50 for the 4 of us some people may have found this expensive but I can assure you it was well worth it, Paphos airport is not the most comfortable, with metal seats (if you can find any free ones) and cramped eating areas. We had a constant supply of sandwiches, cheese with crackers, cake and drinks (Tea, coffee,alcoholic and non alcoholic), there are comfortable leather seats and tables with comfy chairs,newspapers, toilets and a telly.
The Cyprus Airways rep also tells you when you are required to board and then you just go straight to the gate and board. Its worth every penny.

We had a fantastic time at The Eleni and can't wait to go again.

I booked a weeks stay at the Eleni beofore reading some of the reveiws posted her and consequently was a bit worried about going. I didn't need to be, the appartments are fantastic, very big, cleaned regularly and very well equipped. 

We went all inclusive and found the food brilliant, loads of choice, my husband and children are very fussy, but found plenty to eat. The snacks at the pool bar and the buffet lunches and dinners were great. The waiters and waitresses could not do enought to help and were very pleasant and friendly - there was no queing at the bar as orders were taken at the tables - I did think that this would make service a bit slow, but not at all as there are plenty of staff to serve you.

The pools are excellent, with a hige pool for everyone, a toddler pool to cone side, a pool with a net accross for games and an indoor pool if the weather is bad (not that it was - if anything it was too hot - take plenty of high factor sun cream)

The resort is about 6 miles from Paphos, but there is a shop on site with a good variety, there is also a restaurant and a pizzeria close by. It takes between 5 & 10 mins to walk to the bus stop depending on the heat - the bus is 50 cents pp to get to paphos or we took a taxi which cost £cyp5 for the 4 of us. This is a good idea  for the return journey from Paphos if you have done a lot of shopping as it drops you right at the hotel.

I have been on all inclusive holidays before to spain - but I would definatley recommend The Eleni and would certainly return.

What a fantastic place to stay. Apartment was great - very clean and spacious with a lovely balcony big enough to lay down and catch a few rays! We booked this as a late deal (resort allocated on arrival) and were a bit apprehensive as to what we may find. Couldnt have been any happier with the accomodation and the staff are very friendly too. We arrived early hours of morning and the receptionnist went out of his way to provide us with a drink and coffee etc for our apartment until we could buy some in the morning. 

I would advise holidaymakers to hire a car to explore the island as there are many more places to see - Kolossi Castle, Tomb of the Kings and Curium are a few places we visited - make sure you use plenty of sun cream though as you do not realise how hot it gets while walking around!!! Also visit the Coral Bay beach which isnt too far from the Eleni. Lovely clear waters and a nice restaurant there aswell. Hope you all enjoy your stay as much as we did! :)

just come home from a two week holiday at the eleni had a fantastic time. was expecting to be really far out after reading some reports befor going but the location is'nt bad at all bus stop up the road with buses going every 10 min. complex itself really nice we booked selfcatering but upgraded to all-inclusive once there really worth it food was absolutley fab! entertainment was ok hannah + craig were really good staff at the eleni were really freindly if your going with children a trip to the water park is a must. 

will be going back we real enjoyed and we did'nt see a cloud in the sky for the whole two weeks have a good holiday we did!

Some of the reviews of the Eleni I feel are very unfair.
I recently returned from a weeks stay here and I could not recommend it enough particularly to families.
My apartment was very big, clean and modern and the pool was gorgeous. Staff lovely and friendly and I never noticed anything wrong with the drinks.

Paphos itself was only a 10 minute bus ride away which cost 50 cents no matter how far you went - bargain price. Loads of restaurants, bars and shops to choose from and plenty of registered taxis around if you fancy a late night.

The water park in Paphos is great fun for all ages as well.

One word of warning take high factor sun lotion it was over 35 degrees every day during my stay and it is so easy to burn especially on a day at the water park.

Anybody holidaying at the Eleni have a wonderful time and you will return with a gorgeous tan to make everyone jealous.

Was very underwhelmed by our stay at the Eleni.The Hotel has a general feel of being passed its best, with a sense of penny pinching. The upgrade options offered at time of arrival seemed pricey.Room cleanliness was at best hit and miss. The bar area lacks any feeling of atmosphere, and frankly £1.50 for half a cup  of coffee in a plastic cup at the bar of a alledgedly 4* hotel is having a laugh. Poll area is nice though and found food both varied and good. Wine at the table though can be expensive unless on all inc.Also £20 for late checkout seems steep.Be warned everything is extra..will even cost you £10 for the tv remote!! Whats that all about?? Have seen dozens of hotels over the years and not seen that before. 

Car hire available locally cheaply so getting away is an option!! If you re looking for a hotel of this type in Cyprus, I suggest the Atlantica in Limmasol which despite being 3* is really much nicer...will go back there next time!!!

We stayed for 2 weeks at the Elini self catering in a one bed spacious apartment. The apartment was ground floor overlooking the pool (block 29)and as you exited the apartment you had views of the sea .The reps tried very hard to entertain everyone,there were a good few shows Greek night/The Exotic dancers were good the kids loved the Magician who due to the only bit of rain we had had to do his show in the Paris bar.

If you don't want to do cooking you can eat at the restraunt or go up the road where there are a small range of places to eat the best we found were Angelikas and the Pitzzaria ( they serve a wide range of food all very good ) my favourite was chicken parmasan.

Yes the place was a bit out of the way but it is served by a good bus service for those who choose not to drive the cost started out at 50cents but rose to 70 cents in the second week no matter how far you travelled.We found the staff very friendly.We also went on a mini cruise to Egypt on the Serenade Cairo is an experience not to be missed you think you've seen bad drivers over here wait until you've seen them they change a 3 laned road into 5 or six if you got a small car plus bikes weaving between them oh and the flock of goats being herded along the roadside The Pyramids /Museum was great although not enough time at either all a bit rushed but well worth it. Take the trip down the nile for lunch great entertainment Belly dancing and the young male dancer was great .

All in all a good relaxing holiday had by everyone and thats what holidays are for to do as much or as little as you want.

The Eleni Holiday Village was pretty much what my wife and I expected, a good value middle range holiday, although it should never be classed as 4 star, probably more 2 or lower 3 star.
The apartments are very spacious, well equipped and clean although our balcony never got any sun at any time of the day.
The pool and surrounding areas are good and sun beds are plentiful.
We were on an "all inclusive" basis and although I found the food to be pretty basic my wife enjoyed it, there was certainly plenty of choice and the fresh fruit and different salads were good. Drinks were ok with a pretty good selection of cocktails although there was no decent tonic to go with the gin.
Entertainment at night was terrible unless you were with young children who basically took over the place untill about midnight.

All in all the Eleni Holiday Village is a reasonable, good value holiday, particularly for families with young children.

On arriving late at Eleni there was nowhere to get anything only a bar till 1am, which only provided crisp. We had alittle problem with the rooms we orderd as we asked for two rooms together because of the younger children. The travel agent then asked us would we like the same type of rooms - so we said yes as long as they are together. As we arrived we found out that one room was on one balcony & the other was across the way on the other balcony.!! We went to see why we did not get the rooms together, like we asked & it was because we wanted the same type room - thats they were not together! sounds cofusing but we didnot get the help we needed we had to wait till morning. 

Next day the Reps were not very helpful from First Choice - as we tried to explain why in Manchester we  paid for two rooms together-- we said we would pay extra just so we all could be together because of the children!! No not at all they would not do anything for us!!So please explain to reps in England that you want two rooms together but if they are the same type room they may NOT  be together as we found out when we got there!

Pool was excellent but the entertaiment was rubbish!! It was ok for kiddies under 9 yrs but 9 upwards you will have a big problem with them getting bored!!Nothing for teenagers upwards that it where they fail. St Georges next door is good but you pay all that money to stay somewhere good & it turns out not as expected. we stayed Eleni because we were going to wedding & i asked the reps in Trafford Centre to find us a place near to Kefolas Beach Apartments where my friend was staying - they said it was 5 mins away not far to walk!!!!!! Under statement it would take you a long time you would have to get a Bus ot a Taxi.

Be aware of Scuba Diving who come around the pool! My 18 yr booked it beside the pool & my hubby went to book the next to go with him & the 12yr. they picked them up took them to paphos gave them a talk through & a questinaire to fill in about your health in a small stuffy room with 20 people in. They checked the questionaires then shown them a flip chart - another 15 mins!!! At the end when everyone was going out of the room he called my hubby over to explain that the 12 yr couln't go because of his asmah & wanted him to stay in that room for 4 hours so the dad & step brov could go!!!!! don't think so my hubby said i can't leave him with strangers!!! they all wanted to go down together as a family - they would give my hubby a refund for 12yr but not refund his money or the 18yr because they were fit & healthy to go diving. Waht a con - so we lost £60 as it was £30 each to go down. Please make sure you ask at the pool about health issues before they take your money!!!!

Believe or not we had a lovely hoilday - friends wedding was lovely weather was great but would not go back by choice to Eleni if it was just adults or children over night due to the evening entertainment

Opps don't i waffle abit but i dont want people making the same mistakes as us

If it is a clean apartment you are looking for, try elsewhere.  Our furnishings were well worn and dirty in places. The noise from the dining/partying area below our apartment was on-going and there seems to be a lot of bored teenagers hanging around with nothing to do but play games machines. Pool balls missing and pucks missing from games, overpriced slot a machines which often don't work. Can you find staff to help you out?  Well maybe just one, or two and they are always busy.  Very shoddily run place - so bad in fact that we moved to The Elysium (5 star) because we couldn't stand the constant noise and mayhem. If constant Sky TV and English football is your thing you'll love it - otherwise pay for the Elysium - mind you don't bother if you tend to were a football strip on holiday! You'll probably like it!

Oh and if you don't have a car, you will need to get the bus (about a 15 minute walk to the main road) to the nearest beach (Coral Bay 30 mins bus ride) or back into Paphos (15 Minutes by bus), or Kato Paphos (25 mins).  If you do hire a car, make sure it is with Euro hire company. The local companies can provide you with vehicles which are in poorer condition and can be dangerous.

renewed our wedding vows at st Pauls chapel in paphos 15 people travelled in total 11 staying at eleni 4 staying at the land of the kings,on booking,the eleni was a new complex and not listed in the gazateer,when our travel agent asked first choice how far apart the two complexes were we were told about a ten minute walk,more like forty which is difficult when 2 of the people travelling are only 5&3 yrs old fortunatly there was a good bus service costing one fifty cent each into paphos town centre.

the eleni was a very spacious complex with a large pool and ample sun beds some were taken first thing in the morning yet no one appeared till midday,a smaller pool is situated just above for volly ball but the kids have their swimming lessons in there, there is a smaller indoor pool,the complex was exclusive to first choice and did have regular entertainment,although it was the same shows again the second week that can be boring when there really isn't anywhere else to go.

apartments were quite good with full bathroom and you received a welcome pack ,apples yogurts and a few cans of pop that was a nice surprise,we did get quite a few ants though.

a majority of the people on the complex were friendly just one or two that spoilt it but that can happen antwhere.
a good local eat place is a restaurant called wisdom about a five minute walk from the complex owned by leo really nice bloke down to earth and will have a laugh not posh or too pricey we had our reception there (try the meze delicious)
hire a car and drive to nicosia go up to the observatory floor in woolies and you can see over into the turkish occupied part of cyprus shopping is quite good too!

beaches only went to coral bay really as it was ten minutes down the road and the buses are regularand in expensive but they do fill up and sometimes you had to squeeze on through the rear doos.the beach had jet skis and peddalos and you have to hire sunbeds unless you want to lie on your towel but the sand got very hot and this was october.
all in all a very nice holiday though it was very expensive think most of us had to take a trip the hole in the wall as everything cost more than we anticipated.
not to sure we d rush back there nothing wrong with cyprus just the general cost of things but then again it was a special occaision.

When we arrived at the hotel, our cases were taken off us and taken up to our room, upon check in we were given  a welcome drink, the staff were very helpful and friendly.

when we arrived in our room we had a side seaview and i would recommend this we also over looked the reception area, there was no noise at all as the hotel is at least 200m to the main road that runs into main Pafos centre.
The rooms were equipt with everything you would possible require, Bathrobes, slippers, tolitries, they gave us fresh towls twice a day, which was nice, the maids would come in a nights and turn down the beds, and then in the morning make the rooms back up.

The breakfasts were fantastic, a great selection for all, whether you would want  a continental or full english breakfast, there was fresh fruit, freshly cooked omlettes..... there was lots of choice.

Location of the hotel was very good, it was located at about 200m to a selection of bars and restaurants, and it was 20-25 mins walk in to the main centre and harbour, it was a easy walk very flat area.

I would recommned this hotel to a variety of people and it was one of the best 5* hotels that I have stayed in, I have been in many hotels this standard because I am a Travel Agent.

I would go back with no hesitation at all!

This was the place hotel we had ever stayed in.  

We went for our Silver Anniversary and it was FANTASTIC!!!!!! The rooms wer excellent.  We booked a sea and pool view room and the views were the place ever.  The service was excellent.  As soon as we arrived in our room a bottle of Champagne was sent up and on our Anniversary day another bottle of champagne and a special cake with Happy Anniversary were left in our room in the late afternoon.  A couple of times we had room service for Dinner and we ate on our balcony.  The food was excellent and very welled priced.  It was all set out as if you were in a restaurant even flowers on the table.

The pool areas were fantastic, towels were available from the Spa and the attendants at the pool sorted our your sunbeds and umberallas.

My/Our Holiday Opinion: 

Generally the Elysium is an excellent hotel.  Location is good - C£3-C£4 to the centre of Kato Paphos in a taxi - 50c in the bus.  However, if you plan to catch a bus during August at about 7-8pm it is likely that you won't get on.  Taxis are frequent so it didn't really cause a problem.  A few 'family' bars are located about 100m from the resort - noise is not an issue at all.  Also most of the restaurants we tried in the area were good.  The pick of the bunch was the Artio Brasserie (this is tucked away down the street opposite Fat Mama's).  Artio's has no menu on display but does a good selection of fish, meats and pasta.  Food fantastic, service even better, atmosphere intimate.  Cost - expect to pay about C£60 for 3 courses with a bottle of wine (at C£20)

Other eateries we sampled in the area were Doumo (Italian), Rigas (Cypriot).  Both good quality food.

Back to the hotel....

The hotel seemed empty which was lovely as you ended up with the pool to yourself a lot of the time (there are actually 5 pools!).  Staff very pleasant particularly the porters and receptionists.

A complaint I would have is with the waiting staff's obsession with removing your plate whilst you are still chewing your food.  Also they had a liking for pouring full glasses of wine which resulted in warm wine!  We mentioned the wine problem, and they immediately took note of our request.

Gym facilities at the hotel excellent (by hotel standards).  Nicely air conditioned.
They will provide you with towels for the gym from the Spa.

Public areas of the hotel fantastic - cannot fault.

Prices I thought were reasonable.  Although I felt you would get better dining experience (ie taking into account value for money, ambiance, quality) eating outside of the hotel in the evening.  Having said that I could not fault the quality of the food at the hotel.

Loads of loungers and umbrellas.

During our stay there was some building work.  Generally noise levels were fine, and if you really wanted to get away from the noice you could go to the royal pool.  They seemed to be building a beach.  On one day however, it was a little noisy.  This will probably not be an issue for anyone else as it didn't seem to be a major job.

Maid service generally very good.  Two towel/bed changes per day and a few extra nice touches.  Sometimes a little bizarre (for example we came back to our room to discover our air conditioning key had been removed!).  Reception were very apologetic.  Another time we found some cotton buds down the loo!  Nothing ever major, just slighty random and bizarre things that you wouldn't expect from a 5 star hotel.

Slightly further afield from the hotel, we ate a two excellent resturants ..Cavallinis (far end of Paphos past the Aloe Hotel - no 15 bus stops near enough outside), and Pavorotti's (near Alexander the Great hotel but quite difficult to find if you don't know where it is) - this is apparantly the place to go (top tip for Pavorotti's: take a jumper as the air con works pretty well!!)

Overall, my view of the Elysium is that it is an excellent hotel.  I would recommend it to anyone who appreciates excellent standards of accomodation in a tranquil setting.

My/Our Holiday Opinion: 

The Elysium is a beautiful hotel, with probably the nicest lobby and swimming pool areas I have seen.   We booked inland view rooms and were lucky as some of these rooms have a partial seaview.   The hotel was quite quiet even in June and there was no problem getting a sun lounger.   The Opium spa is well worth a visit.   Only ate breakfast and sometimes lunch at the hotel but prefered to eat out of the hotel at night as the hotel restaurants were slightly expensive (approx £25 pp).

Disappointed with the Tombs of the Kings hence the 75p entry.   There is a nice walk along the coast from the Elysium which takes you to Paphos harbour which is really pretty.   Had some really nice meals whilst in Paphos and thoroughly recommend Duomes (just up from the Elysium) and Hondras Tavern (in Kato Paphos just across from Woolworths) which did an amazing meat meze.

Elysium hotel cannot be praised highly enough. The staff could not do enough for us. Hotel was very quiet - ideal as the swimming pool and gym were almost always empty! Close to beach but beach didn't look very inviting. Lots of building work going on in Paphos. Main road from hotel into old town very uninspiring. Harbour area quite pleasant, mosaics worth a visit.
Visited Troodos mountains and Akamis Peninsular (on Jeep safari) - well worth the trip although weather could have been better!

The staff at the Hotel were brilliant as was the food and accommodation .. 4* in every sense. The area is worth exploring with a hire car - our Thomson rep got us a good deal (cheaper than the in house company). We liked the B6 coast road down to Limmasol and the historical sites, take care going up the mountain and get back down before dark as there a no lights on the road!

on arriving at the apartments we were very impressed with the layout and all the staff were friendly and helpful.
The place was in a relaxing quiet area but also had  a range of really nice restaurants in walking distances which was good as we could both have a nice holiday drink every night!!

Paphos harbour is only a 10 minute bus ride from here and we went there most days as there is plenty to see and do.
It was our first time to Cyprus and i would love to go back and wouldnt hesitate in staying at the Helios Bay Apartments,great holiday and great accomadation.

My/Our Holiday Opinion: 

We acutally got in touch with Nicos (the manager) before we arrived to arrnage cot etc.

Upon arriving i was very please with the layout of everything and the pools accomodation etc.

Our aparmtnet was under the pool bar with sun loungers outside our patio and just  ashort walk from the sea.

Beware! the sea is very rough and not really suitable for bathing, however there are a few rock pools whcih children  love, but take care coming down as you have to climb over the rocks whcih can be slippy!

Nicos and the staff could not be more than accomodating for even the slightest request and i found everyone from the bar staff to the maids to be happy & smiley!!!

THere are a few restaurants nearby and i would recocmed the one enxt to the little shop. We wnet there nearly every night to try out local food and the staff were more than accomodating.Even with a 2 year old who doesant like to be in his sit for long!

This a family orineted accomodationand if you dont mind a bit ofquiet but with a pool bar that is opne at night and are looking for relaxation it is ideal!

Having read the comments on this site, we asked friends, who just happened to be going to Paphos in March 2005 to investigate for us. They have returned with what can only be discribed as a "video from hell". The main problem being that the Pool has rubble to the side, covered by a green sheet but there are old bricks etc right on the poolside. There is what appears to be a large plank at the botton of the half empty pool. We are currently in negiotiation with the travel agency to change hotels before we go! - in 6 days time.
I will never book another hoilday without viewing this web site again - Thanks

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

arrived in cyprus on a very cold night in feb, however excellent flight with eurocypria. reached hilltop gardens and was pleasantly suprised especially after reading the reviews. the gardens were well maintained as was the reception area. andrea was very pleasant and helpful. the room was very spacious with central heating that worked and air con(for a price) if needed. as it was late shopped in the site market, very expensive. after getting our bearings the next day we walked to the harbour it took about 45mins but a very nice walk. harbour area very nice. only down fall to february apart from the weather is that alot of restaurants are closed, however king zorbas was fab.
booked the one day tour of cairo and the pyramids expensive but well worth it.

on the whole an enjoyable and relaxing holiday would return in the summer but maybe not paphos.
p.s. shop at ermes in the harbour loads of choice and very cheap indeed.

My/Our Holiday Opinion: 

We were a bit worried when we first read reports about the apartments, but when we got there I was pleasantly suprised.  To be honest, I have stayed in a lot worse.  We had a 2 bedroom apartment in B block on the third floor with a sea view, which we weren't expecting, so it was a bit of a bonus.  Watching the thunderstorms over the sea was great. 

The apartment was clean, except for under the beds and the sofas, but don't look under there and then you won't be bothered!

We only wanted somewhere to put our heads down at night and it fitted the bill fairly well.  I can't comment on the entertainment, the pool or the standard of food as we didn't sample any of these. We weren't really disturbed by the building site opposite our block either - the thunder was more of a disruption to our sleep.

The staff on reception were really quite friendly, so I'm not sure what other people experienced when they went there but we had not complaints about them.  They made a real fuss of our little boy, and to me that's what matters.  We did use the shop though to get some milk for our youngster and not only was it expensive, they diddled my husband by taking his 20 cent coins and treating then as 10 cent coins. It was only when my husband left the shop, did he realise they had (probably knowingly) overcharged him for the milk.

We were lucky in that we had a car thrown in with the holiday but it was a bit ropey. However, we could hardly complain as it only cost us the CDW and petrol and it did get us round and about without any bother.  We found the car invaluable for the location of the apartments as it would have been a bit of a pain walking or getting the bus everywhere with a toddler and a buggy.

Coral beach was a bit of a disappointment - I have seen better beaches in Ireland.  I loved the Cypriot people though - so friendly and welcoming.

All in all, the apartments were fine and you get what you pay for.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:  

I came to the Hill Top Gardens  , my first inpresions of the appartment were not bad . The reception was nice, there was a tv there , close by,there were soafers . We had been showed to our rooms by a member of staff . We arrived in the day,so it was easy to see the surroundings. 

We opened the door to the room , the family had thaught that the room was nice. this was untill midnight, we had all gone to bed about 8:00 pm , it was about 12:00 am when my dad was up to get something to eat and all of a sudden the electricty went off , no lights so we coulden see nothing . The staff there had came to our room shouting, soon after they fixed the problem,well at least for ten minuits. so once again they had come to our room,and told us to switch of the fans , so we did and the lights came back on.
There was no airconditoning in the rooms ,so we had to pay thiry pounds for two weeks,this was a rip off , because at the end of the first week we went out for two dayys to see relatives,as soon as we come back the fans had been changed and were broken.

The whole appartment smelt very bad of damp everywhere you went you could smell it ,the worst plase was the beds, you would be lucky to get one night sleep.The rooms looked like it had never been cleaned in history , you cant even touch nothing without getting dirty.

The location was in the worst posible place in the middle of nowhere it took about 30 minits to go to the shops.Most of the restarants were resonable the worst one we went to was king zorbas.The best being malainias and nickis.the staff are very frendly there , me and my family are Greek cypriots so we know if the food is good or not. The food in the appartment is terible the cooks are not even Greek the supermarket is very expencive ,the swimming pool is very dirty with leaves covering the surounding water. There is supposed to be live entertainment eg:Karioki,but the only singing was the man organising the event, there was also a disco,but the music was lower than my grandma would listen to.

Over all i think the appartment was a compleate dump,I am advising everyone not to go to the Hill Top Gardens.
Overall I ould give the apartment 1 out of 10 .

Just back 1st August 2004. We had a great time at the Hilltop Gardens please dont take note from all the other comments it is not that bad.The only problem we encountered was the heat (fans quite expensive as there is no air con)

The pool was great & cleaned each day.The bar prices for drink & food were ok.A new barmaid/cook had just started when we arrived & served & maid good food & drinks.

The accomadation was very good & clean.On site mini market was ok & just a sort walk to other mini markets wich were a little bit cheeper.Also not far to walk to other bars & for food & drinks.

We tried diffirent restaraunts each night & every one served fantastic food.Lots of building work going on to improve the area & did not disturb any of us at any time.The water park is a must & the harbour very nice to stroll around.There is a funfare in the town wich is a bit expensive but great fun.Taxis have a set fare of £4 anywhere in Paphos dont pay any more (you have been warned)

We went on the 3 day cruise to Egypt & was worth every penny! the food on the ship was outstanding & the drinks priced Ok. Please do not buy anything from gift shops or bizzare's & cammel traders during the tour as the Jewelery & other items are cheap imitations that cost a lot.(you have been warned)
The holiday overall was very good & i am glad the hotel & resort was nothing like the reviews by other guests.
PS, i did not see one cockroach or ant the whole time we were there.

Memories of Helltop gardens-

We arrived at the place,
met by sour face,
or Stella as she likes to be known.
With a scowl and a frown,
She slammed our keys down,
Room C25 she said with a moan.

The room was filthy,
Flooded and cramped,
And the view looked over a dump.
The shop was expensive,
But you couldn't get served, unless ringing the bell for the grump.

With cockroaches and ants,
As big as your hands,
Crawling all over the bar,
You didn't dare drink or eat or sit,
But every-where else was too far.

We ran out of money,
In the very first week,
It's dearer than bloody Dubai,
There was no entertainment,
As promised each week,
As the Police would issue a fine.

If you think I'm joking, feel free to visit.
Staff- 0/10 Rudest inhospitable people anywhere.
Food- 0/10 Potatoes on floor of bar covered in cockroaches and ants.
Resort- 2/10 Remote near hilltop, very expensive, rubbish and debris piled high.
Rep- 0/10 Unless your up at 08:30 hrs on odd days you won't see him.

The holiday was saved by the other holiday makers staying there. Niki's tavern / fat mamas / moorings were all excellent. YAMAS.

My/Our Holiday Opinion: 

On arrival we were greated by unfriendly staff who showed us part of the way through dimly lit passages to our apartment. 

The apartment although big and spacious was unbearably hot and we had to pay expensively to hire three fans for the fortnight we were there. The staff were very miserable and getting served at the very expensive bar took most of the night. 

A few of the guests we met there had some problems with cockroaches although we only had a problem with giant ants. Some of the guests (including 2 of my children) had ear infections through swimming in the pool. 

The Hilltop Gardens is situated virtually in the middle of nowhere and surrounded by half finished building projects from which the noise is very loud and woke us up at 7:30 on the dot every day. The only way of transport is to walk half a mile to the bus stops ( Buses very cheap, regular and air-conned) or a 5 pound taxi fare into Paphos. Saying this we thoroughly enjoyed Paphos and its beautiful scenery especially at Coral Bay. Top places to eat - Coral King at Coral Bay - La Piazza and The Moorings in Kato Paphos.

We will one day go back to Cyprus but only when the nightmares of Hellstop Gardens have subsided!!!
