My/Our Holiday Opinion:
Hi guys,
Just back from Fuerteventura and loved every minute of the holiday.
Brisamar is a fab place to stay being excellent value for money! The apartments were lovely, spacious and clean, staff couldn't be friendlier and helpful. The pool is very nice and I must say looks much nicer than in the photos.
The best thing about this place is the location! It's situated right in the main street close to all the bars and the beach. However, it is still a quiet place if you like peace and quiet. You will not need a taxi at all unless you choose to take one to go to the dunes just outside Corrajero. There is a large supermarket, souvenir shop and 24h doctor underneath the appartments (main street side)which is very handy. We've explored the resort and realised that we were very lucky to stay in Brisamar. There are a lot of other hotels that are situated quite far away from the centre, some looked awful with very little to do around them.
The hotel bar is really cheap and pleasant to drink in. E.g. exotic coctails cost 4 euros while other bars nearby charge 6-7 euros.
The 2 of us stayed for a week half board for £277 (hotel only from LateRooms.com).
Maybe hotel could improve on their food though. Continental breakfast was great with a good variety. However, dinner could do with more choice. The food was good but we recommend to go and eat at 6pm sharp because later the food gets rather cold. Desserts were the same every day and rather dissapointing.
Overall it was a fab holiday and we recommend the hotel for all the ages and kinds of people. If we go back to Fuerteventura, we would only stay in Brisamar!
Hope you have as great time as we did!
Regards, Ruta and Andi Stephen

The Brisamar apartments were very clean and tidy with an excellent maid service.
There is everything there that you would need including a Doctors and Dentists, supermarket and a really nice salt water swimming pool. It has an very good location just off the main street so everything is within walking distance.
Corralejo itself could do with a bit of cleaning up as we thought it was a little grubby, but the magnificent beaches just outside the town more than made up for that. The beaches can be reached either by bus, taxi, or you can hire a car at reasonable cost.
There are some good restaurants in Corralejo that are worth a mention, Pancho Villas serves excellent mexican food, The Plaza Steak House serves the biggest pork fillets I have ever seen !
and the De Napoli Pizzeria serves great Italian food.
If you do hire a car there are plenty of places to visit, but we would not recomend going to see the wreck of the SS America Star as there is not much left and the beach is a bit of a mess.
We had a fantastic holiday and would recommend The Brisamar.

we visited these apartments in june 2006. on arrival we had problems with the shower but staff were really friendly and sorted the problem straight away. we found the accomodation to be clean, with good maid service. Although the kitchen lacked equipment such as a decent kettle and a toaster!! we found that security could be improved as the windows didnt shut properly so we would advised requesting a upper floor room! whilst there we visited the water park which is great for all ages and the oaisis park which involved a camel ride and a buffet style lunch (highly recommended) another place to visit is ALPHA 2 ron and yvonne very friendly great place for an evening drink! some great restaurants such as la terrena steak house- great value for money!
holiday was really good overall and we will definatly be visiting this year!!!

Apart from very hard beds, we loved it !
Yes, there was building work going on next to us, but we were barely aware of it, apart from a few cockraoches which wouldn't have been there if there wasn't a 40ft hole in the ground !well they've got to go somewhere !
Our rep Tom was great always willing to say hello and how are you, really nice guy ! Being a former rep I know many who wouldn't pass the time of day, but Tom was a star.
Brisamar is the perfect location in the resort, you are close to everything but it's not noisy, I had expected it to be, but wasn't.
The apartments were clean and well equipped, you can hire kettles, but the cooker was good enough for me with a pot on it.
Pool & pool area, excellent big pool lots of loungers & spotless, well maintained.
Favourite bar was the Rock Cafe, 2mins walk, great steaks, great food generally, live music which was very good, staff tremendous !!!
What to avoid, the steakhouse in the plaza, food average, overpriced, and no toilet ???
China town great food, all you can eat buffet for 7.80E, great service, & a free shot of rice wine complete with lizard.
Shop around for you take home bevvy, price differences can be as much as 5E on a bottle.
Enjoy Brisamar it was spot on !!!

My/Our Holiday Opinion:
We booked this accomodation as it had been recommended by a friend and at first everything seemed fine. It was in an excellent location and corralejo has loads of bars and restaurants and there is something for everyone. We particularly liked The Venue Bar with JC the singing dog (situated lower floor of the atlantic centre) and The Golden Days bar with Big Al.
On arrival at the Brisamar we were allocated room 403. This was a room on two floors with a mid floor balcony which looked out onto the road at the rear of the property. There was some heavy duty digging going on in the area behind the apartments. We had been informed of this by Thomas Cook but they did say all their guests would be housed well away from the work. However there we were. But we decided we would just get on with it as we did not plan to spend a lot of time in the apartments. We were having a great time up to the Sunday night of our stay. Had a brilliant day on the beach and a few drinks in the beach bar. (Happy hours 3.30 - 5.30., lovely baguettes E1.85)!!!
Good night out. Returned to the apartment to find we had been burgled. They had just pushed open the door on the mid floor balcony which was fitted with tiny bolt. Very lucky they did not get our money etc as we had safe and had kept key on us. Guest staying next door not so lucky. they had money etc stolen. A distressing experience which you go on holiday to get away from!!!
We were moved to room 118. Best room on the complex in our opinion which was completely better standard than 403.
We decided to just go for it and try to enjoy rest of our hols!! Met some great people and had lovely meals particularly in the restaurants around the harbour area.
Took The Fred Olsen boat to Lanzarote which was 18 minutes each way and a great day out.
All in all enjoyed Corralejo and would go again but would think twice about Brisamar unless we could be guaranteed room 118!!!

We found the brisamar to be an excellent base for a holiday in Corralejo- within easy walking distance of the main resort centre.
It has a lovely large pool with plenty of sunloungers and was a clean and quite spacious apartment for the two of us
There are enough restaurants and bars to cater for most tastes in the resort and the dunes are well worth a visit (although it is a long walk so would probably recommend the bus)
Overall if its a relaxing, chilled out holiday that you are after then this could be the place for you!

We have just returned from staying at the Brisamar apartments in Corralejo in Fuerteventura and would recommend both the resort and apartments.
The room was cleaned daily and towels and linen changed regularly throughout our weeks stay. The pool was lovely and clean and no problems getting a sunlounger. Situated in the resort centre but no problems with noise. Everything was close by and the resort has someting to offer everyone. The sand dunes were almost certainly worth the 5 mins bus journey. They were lovely! Some building work going on around the resort but nothing that ruined our holiday where we were staying.
Overall an excellent holiday and would love to visit again and without a doubt would stay at the Brisamar....

My/Our Holiday Opinion:
We flew from Manchester with Thomas Cook, the flight was excellent and we booked a hire car for the week to be collected from the airport.
We found the apartments very easily (just behind the Brisamar Clinic) and parking was very easy too.
The apartments were very clean and modern. They were well equipped and nicely furnished. We had a ground floor apartment with a terrace facing onto the gardens. The gardens are very pretty and because of the trees and shrubs it feels very private. The pool area and gardens are kept immaculately. The only negative thing I can think of is that there is a noisy childrens playground with very irritating music next door, but this only bothered us in the early evening before we went out.
Correlejo itself is a busy town with lots of bars and restaurants. There is an astonishing number of chinese restaurants! If you like steak / meat Poco Loco is particularly good and there are some excellent fish restaurants around the town beach. The Waikiki Beach Bar is good for a drink in the evening, they had a live band on one of the nights when we went.
Probably the best thing about Feurteventura is the sand dunes, they are stunning.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:
I have visited Corralejo 4 times before - so knew what to expect, although had never stayed in Brisamar Appts. I chose the appts mainly because of the location within the resort as two females (mother and daughter) we wanted to be central, also the price through Holiday Hotels was very good and they also looked well maintained from the photgraphs on the website. We certainly weren't disappointed and could not fault the cleanliness, service from the staff and the general maintenance of the complex. The appartment itself overlooked the pool and had all the amenities you would need, towels were changed every second day and linen twice in the week.
The resort itself is ideal for a weeks winter break, we were extremely lucky with the weather and did not see a cloud all week. Corralejo has got just enough going on without being too wild - we would recommend Poco Loco to eat although we did not have a bad meal all week - try the local fish and seafood and canarian potatoes with mojo sauces. For entertainment - Rock Bar is good with live music every night - great musicians!
Market is worth a visit on Tuesday and Fridays - lots of the usual stuff but also some different local crafts - jewellry is worth a look at. Found the resort to be generally very reasonable and actually came back with some euros - most unusual! Looking forward to booking again for November.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:
Booked this holiday as a last minute deal at 4 days notice to give us a week in the sun before winter set in. Not our usual sort of holiday, but we were pleasantly surprised at the speedy check-in at the airport, in-flight choice of films, and efficient organisation of coach transfer once in Fuerteventura.
However, on arrival we weren't expected by Reception staff and were given an appt overlooking the pool bar which was clearly undergoing renovation work. The appt itself, although spacious and spread over 2 floors, was a strange mixture of brand new and "had seen better days". Curtains, bedcovers and lounge/dining furniture were lovely and the hairdryer in the bathroom was obviously brand new, but the fridge and the bath were rusty, kitchen drawer and door fronts were loose, sockets were hanging out the wall, a bedside light was missing and one of the 2 terraces we had was really dirty. (Luckily this one overlooked the road so we were never going to use it.)We knew from the brochure that the standard of accomodation was described as "basic", so we asked the staff to sort out the few things which they could do quickly and just accepted the rest as part of a last minute deal.
The work on the pool bar initially gave us cause for concern especially as the Rep tried to fob us off with the excuse that it had only started the previous week and there wasn't time to inform anyone. So how come its mentioned in another review from people staying here in September?? Anyway, although it must have been Hell when all the slabbing and demolition was going on, when we were there it was mostly painting and some minor building work which only entailed noisy tools for a few minutes at a time. However, it did mean no long-lies as the workmen arrived just after 8am each day and we could hear their radio and general chat from our room.
The pool area was lovely with bright yellow sunloungers (very comfy for snoozing on to make up for the lack of long lie) and plenty parasols and no one had to resort to putting out towels early to reserve one - there were always free loungers even later in the day. The large pool was cold(freezing!),but reading other reviews, this appears to be the norm across the board.
The appts are situated in a really good spot - just on a side road off the main street of Corralejo which meant that we were close to everything, but quiet at night. Some of the other drop-offs we saw from the coach were quite a distance out the town.
I would agree wiith other reviewers over the maid service - it was a bit hit and miss. A VERY quick mop of the tiled floors, a quick squirt of a cleaner round the loo (no cleaning of bath or basin)and towels changed every couple of days, but not always for ones which looked any cleaner or of the right number. There were a few ants, but that's only to be expected and we were careful not to leave crumbs lying on the floor.
Lots of shops, supermarkets and places to eat out - 87 we were told. Apart from breakfast, when we bought crusty rolls and the most delicious German butter from the supermarket more or less under the complex, we ate out. That had always been the plan, but as the kitchen only had 2 elctric rings - no oven, microwave, kettle or grill - self-catering might have been a problem anyway. I would recommend La Tasca just a couple of minutes walk down the street for tasty food of all kinds and Slow Boat 2 in a small shooping arcade for Chinese food. We weren't bothered with timeshare touts, but the restaurants hustle a bit for business, but a simple "maybe tomorrow night" or "we've already eaten" seemed to go down okay. Slightly more aggresive approach taken by the restaurants down near the harbour which was a pity as it put us off going back again and it had looked as if there were some interesting shops in that area.
Our only trip was in a glass bottomed boat which took us to the nearby island of Los Lobos and then over to anchor just off Lanzarote where we had lunch on board and you could snorkel, jet-ski or go on a banana boat ride. (Sea not any warmer than the pool!) No sign of any dolphins or whales though which was how the trip had been promoted, but it was a change from lying by the pool.
Fuerteventura itself is not a pretty island - volcanic "quarry" with not a tree, shrub or blade of grass outwith the cultivated complexes or house gardens. The coach trip from the airport to Corralejo was actually quite depressing; not helped by the inane commentary from the tour Rep. I'm sure he could have found more interesting things to tell us, or even just have stayed quiet. There is LOTS of building work around Corralejo with much more planned by the look of things. I think you should question your Travel Agent VERY carefully about where your accomdation is otherwise you could be in for a very dusty, noisy holiday.
All in all, we had the kind of holiday we paid for - cheap and cheerful, a few niggly problems, great weather and, the best bit for me - no cooking!!

My/Our Holiday Opinion:
I thought they were great apart from the rock-hard beds and having to hire items which should automatically be in a kitchen. The pool bar/restaurant WAS closed, though, and some drilling was heard but only for a short time. The pool area was lovely as it's recently been renovated and has a vigourating jacussi! I loved the central but quiet position. Maybe we were luckier than Sarah which room we had. I found the staff lovely. They were very friendly and there was a security man on site who patrolled the grounds.
Didn't think much of the food in the restaurant but there are plenty more to choose from, especially aound the harbour. I don't go to eat MacDonald's. I found the bars great with lots of live music being played. The Rock Bar is the nearest but another I loved was the Rock Island bar - great music and fun guys. I didn't venture into Corralejo's answer to the Veronica Centre as it was tacky and full of English karaoke bars. Not for me!
Mossies were a problem and will stand up to Avon's Skin So Soft so take the right repellent. We had a lot of ants, when we let crumbs fall so buy a spray right away or be careful when you're drunk!! The apartments are right next to the market which is on twice a week and not bad and also across from the waterpark - when it is finished. Flag beach was lovely and only a short taxi ride away but nothing much there. I'm hooked on Corralejo and have been going abroad since 1966 so have lots to compare it to.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:
Me and my boyfriend have just returned from the Brisamar and to be honest we wouldn't stay there again.
We booked only 4 days before departure and was not informed of the building works completely surrounding the resort or onsite at the apartments. The restaurant and pool bar are not open and they are nowhere near finished. We only heard drilling on 2 days but as far as I'm concerned 2 days too many. There is also a villa being constructed behind the apartments and some of the apartments are effected by the noise the digger makes. We were moved from this apartment for other reasons below.
On arrival to the apartments we were allocated a room which had a few ants. We were not too bothered at the time. Later, when we came back after dinner at just after 11pm, there were ants everywhere, including on the beds. We went to reception to be asked to move but the reception is shut from 11pm - 8am! (No security on site during the closing hours). We went back to the apartment and I decided to poor hot water on the ants but I found that we did not have any hot water! Each apartment is fitted with a small electrial boiler and ours didn't work. You have to hire kettles so I couldn't even boil any water to pour on them.
The next day we spoke to our rep in the morning and by 6pm we had been moved to another apartment. This one flooded when next door had a shower! Not to worry though as the water in the boiler only lasts about 8 mins when showering and takes 55 mins to heat up again. I found it best if you run the bath and while in the bath the water heats up enough to rinse off in the shower afterwards.
The cleaning of the apartments isn't great. Our towels were only changed once not twice like they should've been and the beds weren't changed at all. All the maids did if they came were mop the floor, and sometimes made the beds as we were in twice when she came and it took only 5 mins.
The reception staff are pretty much useless, couldn't speak much English as most of guests are Spanish. They gave us the wrong safety deposit box key 3 times!
The apartments only have 2 electric rings and a fridge. Everything else has to be hired. There is a TV but is only has CNN and Eurosport (not British Eurosport so sometimes the programmes are in German).
The complex does have a really nice pool and plenty of sunloungers and parasols which aren't very old. The pool area is kept clean. This is about the only positive thing I can say!
There is a cafeteria at the front of the complex which is cheap and food is ok. I've never seen so many Chinese restaurants in one place though, the resort is packed full of them! A good few pizza places and a few stakes houses too. The best place we went to is called the Waterfront. This is the only place we felt valued as customers as it is owned by a Scottish guy (I had the best meal during our stay there too). Nearly all the other places we went to the staff were rude which I have never known before from the Spanish.
The medical centre is situated underneath the complex and occassionally you can hear ambulances but the complex is situated on the high street so other apartments are effected by road noise as well as the noisey dog opposite!
The walls aren't too thick in the apartments, one night we were woken at 4.15 am as next door had requested a wake up call but they wasn't in! It kept ringing for an hour before it shut up!! We could go to reception and complain as it wasn't open!!!!
There is a supermarket underneath the apartments too, overpriced as usual.
The beach is tiny as alot of the coast is rocky. There's only a small promonade for those of you who like to walk along one unless you fancy walking out of the town (it's not even in the direction of the sand dunes). For the best beaches you need to get a taxi or bus or walk about 2 miles to the sand dunes. They looked nice as the transfer from the airport drives through them. We didn't bother going as I get bored of the beach and things to walk around and there's nothing once you're there.
Go to the Teguisol, Costa Teguise in Lanzarote, it's so much nicer!!

Good location - all amenities nearby. Sea within short walking distance as are restaurants, shops and supermarkets. Good sized apartment with space for fold up 4th bed to be left up all the time. Hire service available for fans etc. Cleaning service was a bit hit and miss. Cooking facilities limited as were utensils some of which need replacing. Clean, very attractive pool area with sunbeds freely available throughout day and plenty of sunshades. Clientele mainly Spanish families and atmosphere very relaxed. We loved the resort and so did our children - there are trampolines, mini golf, bungees, arcades but they are not in your face.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:
I can only comment on the villa I stayed in as you could end up staying in any number of properties in the Brisas Del Mar development, depending on who you book with. I stayed in the one next to the tennis court.
For those who might be interested, we had a great time. There was only the two of us staying there and I would describe the villa as fairly large so plenty of space for us. And also if you fill all the rooms it will still feel roomy. The rooms are pleasantly decorated and furnished although the settee is looking a little grubby.
Kitchen is well equipped and it all seems to work.
Villa layout is a little odd in that the bedrooms, bathrooms and living kitchen area are in effect in two separate buildings joined together by the covered terrace. This means that in order to keep everything secure you have to lock up to three doors depending on how you access. In a way though, it's kind of quirky. The layout also means that you can open all the doors and open out the entire thing to the pool side which makes it feel even bigger. Another point to make is privacy, the neighbouring villa's have windows that look out directly into your pool area, and given the odd layout of the pool you have to make sure your modesty in covered before making the emergency dash to the kitchen for a drink out of the fridge. Not a problem when we were there though as the property next door was empty.
It's really close to the water park for the kids or big kids. It took us on average 35 mins to walk at a relaxed pace to the old part of town.
Now the down side.
I can't fault the standard of cleanliness of the villa as when we arrived and a week later when it was cleaned again all was spotless. But the problem lies in the choice of vanity units in the bathrooms. Although they look pretty good and provide lots of storage I don't see how you can clean under them and looking under it appears that they attract a fair accumulation of dirt and that means they are a favourite hang out of the cockroach. Yes I know they are to be expected but not with the regularity that we saw them and always in the bathrooms.
Although the villa estate its self is clean and tidy the same cannot be said for the surrounding streets. The pavements are full of holes and litter and there is a construction site just over the road from the villa its self. I use the word construction lightly though as not much construction was actually going on. It takes about five minutes or less to walk out of the not so nice streets and on to the airy avenues of Corralejo and it can be a little dodgy when the street lamps fail as you can't see the holes in the pavement but you can always carry a torch.

We arrived having booked a 2 bed apartment, and were given the choice of either the 2 bed or, 2 one bed, which we took , they were next to each other, it gave us so much more space and the extra bathroom , which was a big+with having 3 females in the party ha ha.The apartments were very clean, in fact the whole complex was spotless, the only drawback was the poolside bar, we went one day for a snack at lunch time and waited an hour for a couple of undercooked burgers, so give it a miss.
There is a small english bar about 5 min walk from the complex which does a very good breakfast. Eating out is very good and reasonable , try Poco Loco on the main strip, it is very good and they do half portions for the kids, excellent service and very friendly staff, and don't miss Rosie o Grady's just up from the Dino supermarket, they serve evening meals from 7pm, and all excellent home cooking, so much food on our plates, we were all left stuffed after eating there, and again very good prices. The resort is very quiet and not recommended for the young party animals, a real family resort. There was still some work going on across from the apartments, but it didn't spoil our holiday.
So if you are planning on going to the Bristol Playa , you will enjoy it, we certainly did.

This is our 2nd time at the Bristol Playa and we thoroughly enjoyed it again. The Building work didnt bother us at all and we slept until after 10am most mornings ( ask for apartments facing the sea above the pool bar or on the reception side)Yes it is windy, but fuertaventura is the Windy Island. We had sunshine every day, although some days it was hazy, but still hot enough to lie in. The pool area is fairly sheltered so the breeze is pleasent when sunbathing, we had 80-90 degrees every day and came home with gr8 suntans. We like the apartments because they are quiet and off the beaten track, but are only a 5 min walk to some gr8 restauraunts or 10 min walk to the resort centre. There is a gr8 mexican behind the apartments in the old town, Pancho Villa, food is lovely, but a bit pricey, 90Euro for 4 adults and 2 children. The best food we had was from Rosie O'Gradys in the old town, really cheap and all home made. Went back 4 or 5 times.
We like Corralejo beacause it is not crowded or full of drunks and we will def be going back. The apartments were basic but clean, and the maids were gr8, worked very hard.
A very relaxing holiday.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:
We are a party of two adults and four children. We booked a two bed apartment that was supposed to sleep five adults and one child's bed. However, the fourth adult bed was the cheapest, most uncomfortable sofa that we had ever seen. It was a shame, as it made a good accommodation only average. When you are sleeping for 14 days on a poor quality sofa, you are bound to be a bit jaded.
We were told about the building work that we had read about by the other reviews (thanks - they were really good). You need to realise that the building work is only thirty feet away from the complex. The noise was not too bad on some days. However, they started at 0730 in the morning, just enough banging about to wake you up. To add insult to an early morning the workmen all have a two hour breakfast from about 0900, once everyone is awake. That said, not a problem during the day. In the evening, the complex is very quiet, no noise from music cars or anthing. Good job, because we knew we would be awake early!!
Corralejo is very run down near this complex. There is a large and old hotel that is being renovated nearby. There are many empty and boarded/bricked up shops, and the footpaths are atrocious. Lots of dog mess about as well, so be careful.
This complex in the last and most northerly hotel on the island. It is permanently windy in June, not breezy as explained in the brochure. Down right windy, storm level most days. You could not sit on your balcony with food, as it literally blew off the plate. This wind does keep the heat down, so you may see this as good or bad. It explains why you do not need air con.
In late June/early July while we were there, the sun rarely came out befor midday, and sometimes not before 3pm. Again some may like this, others who love the sun may not. It is warm though. However, it cools down to about 20 degrees in the evening, you may need a light jacket or jumper. The wind makes it feel cooler. Don't worry, its still warmer than England. However, you will be cold in June if you don't pack a jacket, especially the kids.
The pool at the complex was really cold, even on the hottest of days. It was the coldest pool I have ever been in, and I am used to swimming in the sea in England. Not good.
We booked the hotel and holiday specifically for the Kids World Kids Club that Thomas Cook run. We arrived on 20th June, to find that the clubs do not run until early July. Not told about this when booked the holiday. Disappointed. If you are not with Thomas Cook, there is a young guy who allegedly runs a mini club. It isn't very good, opens late or not at all and isn't that inspiring for the children. That said the young guy - Kornel - is friendly, and I think more suited to adult entertainment. Chidren do not appear his interest or his forte.
Anyway, this is a truthful and unbiased view of the resort and complex. There were good points, and we did enjoy ourselves. The staff are really friendly and helpful. The maid service was excellent. The life guard was superb, the best we have have seen. He was so attentive with the children, and even swam with them and gave them swimming advice. He keeps himself busy doing maintenance around the pool as well when its quiet. Don't be fooled, he is still watching. A small girl fell over, and he was there straight away. He sorted out the slight injury, stayed with her, got her a drink to cheer her up, and went back and kept checking on her. As I say, excellent.
The food in Correlejo is by far the best that I have tried in all of the Spanish holiday destinations (and we have been to lots). Keep to the locally owned ones, we found them much better quality. The fish is excellent. Meals are good value, with kids meals around 4-5 Euros. Be careful, as some of the kids meals are frozen. Always ask, as most have fresh meals for kids, or do half portions.
The restaurants have front of house staff who accost you in the most friendly way. They show you the menu and invite you in. They are persistent every night, but are very friendly, to the point you feel guilty for not going in. That said, there is so much choice you can't go in all of them.
Only had one bad meal and that was at one near the harbour/beach area who say they have the only wood fired pizza oven and really push this as an issue. We ate there and it was overpriced and rubbish food. Can't remember the name, but you remember when the man points out the oven to you!!
We found the local restaurants very similar quality. Try the fish dishes they are excellent. Tia Bernandes is a good restaurant down their main street. Front of house is Simon, and English guy who is very honest and friendly. Ate there a couple of times and really enjoyed it. If you are with Thomas Cook/JMC you get a free bottle of house wine at this location (voucher given to you at the welcome meeting).
Overall, it is unlikely that we will return to Correlejo, mainly due to the wind and the lack of wall to wall sunshine. However, it has some good points, especially the food, and the mild heat if you are not a sunseeker.
Hope you enjoy, and thanks to the other reviews, we found them, as always, very useful.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:
This complex will only just reach 3*, the rooms are very basic but the pool area is nice and well set out, cleanliness is good.Staff are friendly and helpful, rep is invisible. The main drawback for this complex is that it is in the wrong place, it is tucked on the corner past the old town, the only hotel in the area, and is buffeted by a gale force wind constantly, this made it so cold that we never sat on our balcony once in 11 days.
The beaches are about 3/4 mile away but apart from the small beach in the centre they all get the wind, hence all the wind surfing in the area.Corralejo itself offers very little, there is a partly finished water park which costs £13 each to get in ( the wind is free)and plenty of decent restaurants. Here I should mention Avenida which is just around the corner from the complex and is easily the best in Corralejo, absolutely fabulous. The whole area is covered in graffiti and dog s**t and if you can get through your holiday without trodding in some well done,
Sorry I wont be returning to Feurteventura, a lump of volcanic rock which must ressemble the moon and not a lot more to do doesn't appeal to me.

Building Work:
Although it did not spoil our holiday, please be aware that building work is under way on the plot of land just behind the Bristol Playa.
When we were there at the levelling of the ground stage, it was quite noisy, and dusty. To see where the development is, look on Google Earth and type in Corralejo. The Bristol Playa is at the north end of Corralejo, just north west of the harbour by the FV-1 coast road. The plot of land in question is a square shape on the eastern side of the apartments. Blocks E F and G may be affected by the noise, which starts around 8;30am and goes on to about 5;30 pm. It may go on longer in the summer when it gets darker later on. Down by the pool the sound isa bit muffled by the buildings, so it was not quite so bad there. They didn't work at weekends.
Things Thomas Cook don't tell you:
If you don't order an in-flight meal (cost of £6 each way) they don't tell you that they will pre- assign you seating and make a great deal of fuss about changing it, we needed to have an aisle seat for medical reasons. There is no reference to this in their brochures. On the other hand... if you pay to have reserved seats all they will guarantee are two seats together.
Coming back we did manage to get aisle seating. All of us Thomas Cook passengers were put on a Thompson flight. Due to an error by TC, the whole flight had free meals regardless if you had paid or not. So that was lucky for us..
OK, doom and gloom over...
This was our second visit to Corralejo and we found that it hadn't changed very much in three years.. we still liked it, although, not a lot for youngsters to do there, you would need a car to get to places to entertain them.
We thought that the Bristol Playa was an attractive complex. No more than three stories high, with nicely laid out gardens and pool area, and it looked clean and well maintained.
We had opted for a two bedroom apartment on the top floor, this had the advantage of having two private balconies, one looking at the pool and the other over the main road and children's playground. The latter one received most on the sun during the day and was fairly private. Comfortable beds, a safe: for which you needed to hire a key, (3 Euro's a day plus 5 Euro's deposit), toaster, kettle, micro wave and coffee maker, but no hair-drier. The bathroom was on the small side but quite adequate. Unfortunately, it did not have an air vent or window so it did get a bit steamed up. The water was very hot and as the shower was angled at about 30 degrees, the back wall, (along with the towel rail,) received a good soaking, so remember to remove the towels before you start.
The apartments do have clothes airers , I would suggest that you take a few pegs so that your clothes / towels say put.
No sign of any ants as mentioned in other reports or any dogs, however, there are some resident cats that roamed about.
Even though they had security guards going round in the evenings,we did think that the hotel they could do better. The doors to the apartments had seen better days, and locks should be changed to card entry, We only had one key and was a bit inconvenient. The doors have a basic lock that can be opened from the front without a key, (if unlocked,) so to be safe, you had to lock yourselves in if you had a siesta . The safe also was key entry, this had the apartment number on it: very handy for any thief if it got lost. A safe that lets you choose your own number would be safer.
Plenty of sunbeds but unfortunately, no parasols, it being a too windy location . There are plenty of palm trees that provide some shade. Pool depths are well marked all round, plus there is a life guard who makes sure that children using the bigger pools can swim. The pool bar/coffee shop does not open until 12:30, which is a bit inconvenient if you fancy a mid-morning coffee. We were very unimpressed with their fruit cocktails (5.50e) not a bit like as advertised in the menu , and definitely not worth the money. We didn't use the restaurant but their buffet breakfast is 7 eruo's adult and 3.50 eruo's child .
The on-site supermarket is convenient for the odd bits you may want like water , bread and papers, but we recommend that you go the the nearest supermarket outside for anything special. The closest one is up by the bus station, just follow the coast road up on your left. There are also two more supermarkets in town, one of which is the Hiper-dino. (marked on the map)
They do have some evening entertainment in the small bar :a key board player and a female singer, very middle of the road repertoire. They did not have a big audience, but maybe it was early in the season and the entertainment will pick up later on.
If you hired a car, there is plenty of parking spaces outside. If taxi's are more for you, there are two taxi ranks in town, one outside the Rock Café and another down the end of the road nearer to Music Square. All the taxi's are white.
In Corralejo there are plenty of places for you to eat a different cuisine every night. They all have people standing outside, trying to persuade you inside their establishment. We can recommend, "The Bombay", and "The El Tren," this one is on the front, it may look a bit run down but the food was excellent. At the end of your meal most of the restaurants will give you a free liqueur.( they can be pretty strong!)
On the local beach look out for the sand artist, a very talented man. Look in his book at some the other amazing sculptures he does,
Apart from eateries , Corralejo has a fair range of shops including: designer clothes, jewellery, cameras, shoes, perfume, up market souvenirs and of cause shops selling the normal holiday souvenir tat ,(including one with "vibrators" on display along with tea-towel and hats!), this kind of shop will usually have someone outside trying to persuade you to come inside.
For night-life it depends on if you prefer to just sit and listen to good live music, or you may like the joining in kind of entertainment. What ever it is you prefer there is plenty of choice for everyone.
We were lucky, the weekend of our holiday, there was a free "Blue's Weekend" in the main square.
Down in Music Square the entertainment varies from hard rock to easy listening. Another place that had a Blue's band that week, was "The Kiwi Café." Our favourite place in the evening for coffee and their yummy chocolate brownies, was "Secreto's", opposite the Rock Café, where we could listen to the Rock Cafe's live music: (it's very loud!) it's mostly rock or blue's .
A word of warning when walking back to Bristol Playa in dark, this is in the older side of the town and the standard of maintenance to the pavements is a little to be desired. Paving slabs and man-hole covers can be missing ( yes really, with no guards) and pavements are a bit of a botch-up with lumps of concrete left in a pile over wiring and around lampposts. Traffic however, is quite well behaved and they nearly always stop at the zebra crossing for you. If you have hired a car, all the petrol stations seem to be on the east side of the island :get a free map to check where they are.
A ferry trip over to Playa Blanca costs 34.50 Euro's , is well worth a visit. You could go on a bus ride :the two routes from Corralejo go to Puerto del Rosario and another to El Cottillo via La Oilva. To visit other parts of the island you need a car or go on an organized trip.
Duty Free Allowances:
Remember that all bottles of liquids over 100mls(wine, beer etc) brought on the mainland will have to go in your hold luggage. If you buy a 250 ml bottle of expensive Eau de Toilette DON'T keep in your hand luggage (even if it's opened) or else you will have leave it behind! You can buy anything you want to after going through customs within your D.F.A. If you want to use up your euros on the aeroplane going home, think again.....their exchange rate was 2 euros for £1........!!
We were a little disappointed in the weather, the evening were very cool and jackets, or jumpers were required. We did have rain on some days, mostly at night and on the last day while waiting for our coach. This part of Fuerteventura can be very windy and it can make it seem cooler than it is, so don't get caught out and get burnt.
Enjoy Your Holiday...

Be warned if you stay in a ground floor apartment, we were in 126, at first we just had ants, we bought some spray and managed to control them, then we became infested by cockroaches we complained to
reception who said they could not move us that evening but at 2 in the morning they were all over our bedroom we went to reception and to be fair they did put us in another room to sleep and gave us a first floor room the next day as you can imagine the whole episode put a damper on the holiday.

Just arrived home yesterday,unfortunatly
1 week was not enough, but my boss thinks different.
Could not fault anything about the holiday,The Bristol Playa is a very good
place to stay the apartments are clean, plenty of utetials, some have sea veiws over to Lanzeroti, others have pool veiws. The staff are all very freindly and helpfull, the complex is pretty. It is a ten minute flat walk
to the centre, where there is plenty to do for all ages, nice resteraunts, try the ones in the back streets as well as the ones on the waterfront. The shopping is good, souverniers, designer wear, duty free, cigs and drinks are cheaper in town than on the airport. The centre has some small beaches, but it is wll worth a 6 Euro taxi ride to Olivia Beaach near the start of the sand dunes.
Overall a very nice place to stay.

Just returned from 2 weeks of fab weather. Temps in the mid 30's.
The Complex at the Bristol Playa is very clean and the staff are very nice. I will start with the down sides first. On arrival i had requested a first floor room and was sent to room 103 in the B block which was on the ground foor with the patio doors on a path next to the road and with a typical 3 year old in the family this was not a good idea. After lots of not so positive response from reception or the rep we were moved to an upstairs room after 2 days (due to them being fully booked and the house keeper having her day off). My only other gripe was that everyone in the resort has a dog and picking up the mess is not a top priority.
The good bits were the pool area which was great and the small baby pool was loved by my 3 year old (watch it can be very slippery)and even though people put their towels out early (my husband would not let me) we always got a bed near the baby pool. The pool bar was spotless as with the whole place and the cleaning staff were great apart from you only got new towels 3 times a week and being a 2 shower a day family it was a problem but if i had asked reception i am sure they would have changed them. We met lots of nice people who had tried the breakfast and said it was lovey and very fresh with great choice. In the Evenings we walked along the sea front to the harbour area to eat and there was so much to choose from The Slow Boat 3 was excellent as was the mexican just down on the right from there and also Fogelera on the habour front and the waitress Eima made great friends with the kids and made us feel so welcome. On a whole, 2 weeks was to long for us with the kids but i would recommend this holiday to familys looking for a good quality break.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:
Oh dear! These apartments are not worthy of the 3 star rating they have.
The public areas/pool area are very clean and well kept. The rooms, particularly on the ground floor, leave a lot to be desired. We were plagued with ants for over a week before the horrible manager backed down and let us change rooms to a higher floor. The fridge was full of ants, as was the kettle, which didn't work either. The apartment was very claustrophobic, not big enough for 4 people really. The bathroom was very tiny, with no window and no extractor fan...not good! Our room was supposed to be for 4 people and yet, there were only 2 dining chairs and 2 chairs on the balcony.
On the plus side, the linen and towels were spotless and there was always tons of hot water. On the down side again, there was absolutely nothing to do for children, especially older ones. There was a kids club, but the age limit was 12. The only facilities for older ones were 2 pool tables, an air hockey table and 1 computer with internet access, which cost 3 Euros for 15 minutes. When you weigh up that there is 180 plus apartments here, each with at least 2 kids in each, that's not a lot of facilities.
It was about 20 mins walk to the 'centre' which had a good selection of restaurants and a few shops. We found the Slow Boat 2 chinese restaurant was lovely(and reasonable) and Sotavento, on the seafront, near the ferry terminal was also excellent, with lovely staff. All in all, Bristol Playa needs to get its act together and realise that if people are staying at the opposite end of the resort to all the action, it needs to have far more facilities on site, i.e..good entertainment for all ages and food available on an evening. And Thomas Cook, please review your ratings. 3 star this is NOT.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:
Was amazed when we arrived at this hotel how disappointed we were after reading all the good reviews here. Yes, Feurtevenura is lovely. Would not take 4 kids to the beach though so did not benefit from lovely sand dunes and having to explain to the kids about the standard nudity. Harbour was nice and so was taking the kids fishing in the rock pools. Hotel not far from anything so cannot complain about that. Taxis are very cheap no complaints there. Plenty of fabulous restaurants to suit everyone at a very good price. They do not seem to be into starters (which are very expensive compared to main course) and desserts (almost non existent). Enjoyed the shot after and the kids appreciate the lollies they get. Great shopping centre opened up call Los Rotundas in Rosario well worth the 30 min no. 6 bus ride to it. Has all the shops you could need - food very basic and limited for the class of the place but you will find Burger King if you need it.
The hotel was clean and tidy enough and well maintained externally. Shop adequate and not over expensive. The apartments were atrocious. Never had so bad. There were 6 of us in a 2 bed. The sofa bed was awful and the mattress was so bad that even after 30 mins of sitting on it you had enough. We put the youngest on it. The 6th bed was a camp bed and to set this up we had to rearrange the furniture each evening. The room was so small that even without it up there was not enough room for the 6 of us to be in the one room. When the bed was made up it was a nightmare. The security was good at the hotel, but as it had no air conditioning with the heat you needed the windows open which was frightening as was the same with all the apartments once a window was open it was accessible to all to get in. We had a patio door in one bedroom that opened in, which was impossible with the space and added to that you had to have the curtains open to have the door open. The main beds were a nightmare, so uncomfortable and the worst we have ever slept in. Talking to other guests everyone had the same problem and we all lacked a decent nights sleep.
The apartments were so basic and cheap and tacky and designed very very badly and don't bother trying to move rooms as the others are not any better. We were on the 3rd floor with no lift and had to be bringing all the stuff we need for 6 of us including a buggy up and down the stairs the whole time which was not fun. Had a desparate problem with ants so keep food out of the way and the floors clean. No problems with cockroaches they only affected the ground floor apartments. This hotel has a lot of potential but needs a serious overhaul to bring it up to a decent standard. We were not even equipped with cutlery and dishes for 6 people.
The evening entertainment for kids was non existent. This place is ideal for those of you who have kids but don't like the reps buzzing around entertaining you and the kids all the time. There is no atmosphere here after the day at the pool everyone - and I mean everyone - heads off for the evening. The hotel is very boring and nothing happens. They advertise entertainment but it is a sham more often doesn't happen and just a joke. Only no more than 10 people will be there out of a full hotel - which says it all!
There is better out there for the same money!

After reading some of these reports we were a little worried as to what we might find.
We had e-mailed the hotel and asked for a pool side ground floor apartment and when we arrived we were not disappointed. We were allocated room number 135, very clean with maid service every other day, the patio doors opened up directly in front of the shallow childrens pool which was great for us and the kids. (although the pool is salt water it was great to swim in and neither one of the kids complained at all, staying in there from 1000 til well past 5 each evening).
The hotel run kids club was, to be honest, crap and we only went there once and decided to give it a miss, there is another one run by another holiday firm which looked better although our kids just wanted to swim.
The Hotel serve buffet breakfast for 7 euros each morning til 10am, then have a poolside bar which serves snacks from a limited menu, there is no food avaliable on site after 5pm, there is a bar which is ok and entertainment every night, except wednesday.
The on site supermarket stocks all you need, but they have strange opening times thru the week and close at 7. If you go outside the complex via the back way, ( by the tennis courts ) and turn right there is a larger supermarket and also a local one with really helpful locals and a wonderful bakery aswell.
It is only a 10-15 minute walk into town and you can't really get lost getting there.
We found if you go out the back and walk down towards the harbour its quicker than the way the reps tell you to go.
There are plenty of places to eat, especially if you like seafood ( which we dont ). All the restaurants by the harbour where the sand sculptures are have great menu's. El Pescadores by the music square is great, try their house steak special, there are a few places to eat by the music square which has entertainment every night, singing, magic etc, great for the kids, Cofradia de Pescadores also serves nice food.
They all seem to have the same kids menu's for 4 euro's, be warned, if your kids want the pizza its 12 inches round !!!
As for bad points, the on site activities during the day are very poor with the evening Kids Disco the worst ever. We did see 2 cock roaches, better then some of the reports we read about.
We only went on one excursion which was to the Baku Water Park, its a brilliant day out, get a cab as its cheaper then the bus (2 euros)!
All in all we had a great holiday, the kids loved the pool which meant we could relax. Hotel was lovely and we would go there again.

Just returned from our first visit to Fuerteventura and would go back there, especially to the Bristol Playa.
The hotel is just a short stroll away from the old town, it's much easier if you come out of the back of the hotel, turn right, left and 2nd right and this road takes you straight into the old music square where there are lots of little restaurants and each night there are either musicians or clowns or fire eaters/jugglers etc, great to sit and eat and watch.
The only downside we had about the hotel really was the pool. It is THE coldest pool I've ever come across anywhere. Take care around the poolside and the bridges, they are especially slippy, the poolside filters are a bit dodgy too and come apart easily. Just make sure the little ones are careful around them. There aren't any parasols either around the pool so there isn't any shade to be had, especially difficult if you have young children as we do.
The evening hotel entertainment isn't too hot either, they have a live act on every night except Weds but its just a singer who repeats his act the week after!! There is however a good little parrott show and reptile show which the kids loved.
A visit to the La Lajita park is recommended, although wear trainers and not flip flops as the floor all throughout the park is covered in little tiny stone chippings. The seal show was great, they bring one out to kiss you so make sure you sit half way down the auditorium on line with the glass doors on the left and right of the seal pool. The camel safari was excellent too, my kids really enjoyed it.
There is a lovely little beach just beyond the harbour, the breeze is such a welcome thing too as it can get very hot, just be careful because it can give you a false sense of security, I got caught out one day and burnt my arm.
On the whole we would revisit the Bristol Playa but would book direct with the hotel and arrange our own flights, there really wasn't any reason at all to be with a tour operator.

We had a fab time here!
The apartments were very clean and had everything you needed. Our patio doors opened up onto the pool terrace (ask for Ground Floor, Block B), which was great as we had our baby son with us so we were able to leave him indoors for a nap and sunbathe just outside the doors.
Its a 10 minute stroll through either the residential area into town or 15 mins round the harbour. Loads of nice restaurants, our favourites were Poco Loco (great chateaubriand!) Slow Boat III (old town), Riverside Cafe (nice for lunch - crusty rolls, jacket potatoes etc), Taj Mahal (old town) and a gorgeous Italian, which I can't remember the name of but is in the shopping complex by the big clock in the new town!
Los Pepes sounded lovely but they don't allow pushchairs in and they don't have highchairs or outdoor seating!
Chablis is a 'Brits' wine bar type place, very dark and smoky inside but its nice to sit outside with a cocktail watching the world go by!
We would definitley go back to Corralejo and probably the same apartments as we liked walking back after our meal in the evening and burning it off!

My/Our Holiday Opinion:
Just come back from Bristol Playa and in all fairness we could not give the hotel any rating at all.
Though the hotel was well maintained, clean, nice pool area, good maid service and wonderfully pleasant helpful reception staff - we had a tremendous problem with cockroaches. The extremely large brown ones that are olympic runners once in the apartment. We was absolutely plagued by them!!!
As we had a ground floor room (number 126) surrounded by gardens we feel that this added to the problem. In particular the hotel complex backs onto the old part of town with waste land on the other side due for major development work any time now, this was cockroach territory.
We woke up in the mornings to find cockroach droppings all over work surfaces and the main runs on the tiled floors and they hide under the main door so when someone unsuspecting opens the door - a whole 13 of the things run into the apartment all at once. You try cornering one of these and serving them with an eviction notice.
On our last night we had to sleep in a stuffy bedroom with the window firmly locked, a rolled up blanket against the bedroom door as a barrier against the huge gaps underneath and at 6am was dressed, packed and ready to check out a whole 4 hours too early - we could not stand the cockroach invasion any longer! Cupboards, toilet, waste bins, wardrobe, sinks - absolutely no hiding place was sacred from these extremely large ugly things. They would jump out at the least suspecting moment just when you were heaving a sigh of relief they had all gone.
We don't think its the hotel's fault, after all they cannot stop cockroaches crawling and flying where ever they chose to do so, particularly in a hot country that borders African wind currents, but we could never go back to Bristol Playa - the cockroaches reigned supreme.
Our fifth time on the island this is the first time we have encountered plagues of the things. Perhaps strong insecticide sprayed throughout the ground floor apartments would help eliminate the problem. Don't have a ground floor apartment if you have booked to stay at the Bristol Playa.
Reading some of the reviews of Fuerteventura of a boring and bland landscape resembling a "volcanic quarry" - nothing could be further from the truth. There are some amazing places on the island off the beaten track. One excellent way to visit these places is to take a Coolrunnings Trike tour of the island. There are natural formations of caves in a hidden cove that are accessible by walking on the fossilised old sea bed with a wave of rocks similar to Wave Rock in Australia, hidden coves where rivers run into the sea, lagoons of El Cottillo, the most beautiful traditional villages with bistros that are akin to stepping back several centuries, legends, folklore and history galore.
Fuerteventura is steeped in fascinating places to discover with the most breathtaking scenery even inland! You just have to know where to look and even with a hire car you can miss so much if you are interested in more than the pool and shops. On our fifth visit we were still discovering places and no doubt will do so again in December when we revisit the island once more - unfortunately just not at the Bristol Playa.
Have a great holiday and look up some of those amazing places and views and you will discover so much more than a "volcanic quarry".

This was our first time to this island, and we were extremeley impressed.we expected the weather to be a bit unpredictable, but we were suprised as the sun shone all week. Thank goodness for the wind as it is welcomed when your sunbathing. Our impression of the appartment was excellent with sea view from the lounge and pool view from the bedroom. The maid service was excellent, 5 times a week and linen changed 3 times. The reception staff were helpfull so were the pool bar staff.
eating out- try a steak at the big steakhouse in the plaza, service and food excellent.
La Catalina-mexican in the plaza.
Ni Napoli have delicious pizzas.
Chablis is on the main highstreet which offers a relaxing drink or 2.
Stables sports bar is a must if you enjoy karaoke and quizzes etc.especially large sporting events.
Finnigans and Dubliner Irish bars have some excellent live music most nights, but beware the compare in the dubliner as he thinks he is funny, and believe me hes not!!!!!
Overall we would definately return for a bit of winter sun!!!!

Apartments were very nice we had everything we needed. The cot provided was of a good standard. The areas around the pool and snack bar were kept clean and the staff were all very helpful and spoke good english - even the maid!
We found the walk in to the centre to be about fifteen minutes along the promenade and less on the back streets. Promenade was well lit but the back streets Ok in the daytime but not well lit in the evening.
The town has a wide range of shops and restaurants we found the restaurants in the Plaza were especially nice.
All in all very nice hotel and resort would return but would book closer to the resort centre.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:
Just returned from this beautiful sunny island to the freezing teperatures of Great Britain (23C to 1C). We had a couple of wet and cold days, but the sunny hot weather made up for this, and this is their winter!
We found the apartment excellent. Very clean and spacious. We asked for a seaview when we booked the holiday and got it. The hotel is in a quiet and peaceful location and only a 10 - 15 mins walk to the town, depending on how fast you walk and finding out where the shortcuts are.
There is maid service every day apart from Thursday and Sunday, but apart from the once a week sheet and towel change, all they did was make the beds and clean the floors.
There are two beautiful clean swimming pools and plenty of sunbeds for everyone. The gardens are kept beautiful and there is a a small area for children with aswings etc, and tennis courts.
We hired a car for 11 days and explored the island seeing all the beautiful golden and black beaches, and visiting beautiful places ie Ajuy, La Pared, Las Playitas, Tindaya and so many more.We did not think much to Morro Jable or Caleta De Fuste, but it depends on what one wants. The first day we hired the car we went to Bentacuria, which in a beautiful place and should not be missed, but only having just picked up the car John had to negotiate hairpin bends on narrow roads and steep drops on one side. He learnt very quickly how to handle the car plus driving on the right side of the road. I would suggest visiting this place a few days into your car hire.
We tended to go out at night to the rural restaurants ie La Azzuro ( El costillo), El Rancho and El Horno (Villaverde)as we found the food in most of the different restaurants in Correljo very much the same. We had one bad meal in an Italian restaurant ( opposite Restaurant Eve). We did complain and even though we offered to pay for our dessert and drinks, they refused and let us have the whole meal for free.
The Indian called the Sitar (Correljo) is very good as is the El Sombre and La Sotaventa.
Shopping is good in the town, especially for duty free items.
Our favourite beach was El Cotillo with fine golden sand and crystal blue sea. There is a nudist beach here, but many people were in the nude on the family beaches too.
The people are very friendly, it is a geat island to explore and we would certainly return.

Apartments are of quite a good standard - they are constantly upgrading to keep them good.
The apartments are a short walk from the main town so there is not very much noise - however I would check with your tor company as building work was imminent across the road from our apartment.
Eating out try Gibsons or Rosie Ogradys or La Tasca or La Terraza.
The bar you want to visit is called THE HELLO BAR - directly behind Mango - Sabi is a great hostess and we had some great nights there - music is great and no TV'S - tell Sabi Albert sends his regards.

ON arrival bit surprised apartments small - but hey that didn't really matter - the advertised buffet restuarant on sight is for breakfast only - my husband sampled and said was good value for money.
Pool was good the children loved it - only concern the over flow grids were weak and if you stepped on them collapsed - reported and on our departure date noted they were being fixed.
Although a nice walk along harbour or through back streets into town - we liked this walk always felt safe and walked back several time well after 11.30pm. Restuarants on the harbour the best - kids meals the usual but we asked for small adults without Chips in several and they were obliging.
Usual brits putting towels out at 7am - so we had to do same but we did it at a more reasonable time of 8.30 No parasoles around pool due to windy breeze - but when not breezzy would have been nice to have.
all in all we had a fab time - definatly go to Flag Beach the waves are magnificant - watch young children though as they can knock you for six very quickly.
I would definatly say it is worth a visit - just don't rely on the entertainment in the aparment this was a bit mundane - we were lucky to meet some other nice families so it was not a problem.
Out of 10 I would give it a good 8 - there was a bit of a security issue with some biknis and jackets going missing off lines but the manamgement responded immediatley with security attendance through out the night - and we actually witnessed an arrest and boy the police do not take this lightly they value the tourists and made sure we all felt safe - we were ground floor and we could not have the windows open - we still felt comfortable and safe.
We had a fun happy time

The Bristol Playa is a great place for those who like peace and quiet.
The resort is a developing low level resort which is great for those who like to eat, drink, sunbathe and not much else; It has no history at all but plenty of sun, at least 5 sunny days of 70 degrees even at xmas.
The other days that may/were wet and windy well save a good book for because there aint a lot else there.
Entertainment is almost non existant at the Bristol as are the reps.
Perched on the volcanic lava the town has resterants by the score and a few shops selling the usual stuff.
Terrible smell of sewage outside and to the left of front enterance of Hotel and the floor slabs and stairs are lethal when wet all around the complex.
Beware those with small toddlers as there are hardley any saftey rails around harbour and beach area.
Sun mostly, sea wind and yes some rain dont think I`ll be going back no time soon.

These apartments are first class, excellent location and very very clean. The only slight problem that you may have is depending on which block (C or D) you are staying in you may experience some road noise, but its not that bad. The pool area is great, there is 2 adult pools and one for the kids, plenty of sun beds to go around, and contratey to what folk say about the Germans, the British are just as bad with their towel's !!!!!!!!!!!.
The resort its self is excellent, there is plenty to do, both during the day and at night. Plenty of first class restaurants. We found you get better value for money and better food if you eat at the local ones and avoid the "British Ones". La Tasca and Blue Jeans and excellent for "BIG" steaks. There are so many good places that you will be spoiled for choice.
The nightlife is pretty laid back, no disco's or loud music bars. The Rock cafe on the Main Street, is a good place to sit and chill to good roack and blues music. The Rock Island is a great live acoustic bar. Another great place is "Sadies", its a drag bar. It is an aboustly fab night out, not for the faint hearted, but you should make an effort to go along, you will have one of the best nigths out ever.
All in all Corralejo is an excellent resort, the "18-30" group haven't managed to make it there yet, (hopefully they won't), its the kind of place where you can go and totally unwind.
We will definitely be going back.

12 to 19 November 2005
As a travel agent, I booked this as a dynamic package (mix'n'match) and ended up paying £164 less than if we had booked a package. This included car hire for the week.
We arrived on the Saturday evening, and as we had made our own in the car, we got to reception and were in our room within 5 minutes of arriving. The receptionist told us that it was a 24 hour reception, but after going out for a meal and a drink, we attempted to get the safe key for the room, only to be told that we would have to wait until 8am the following morning (no explanation given other than it was too late), which kind of puzzled us a bit.
The room itself was spotless. Very clean. Maid came 5 times a week and towels etc changed 3 times. We did get one cockroach, but really didn`t bother us, and something I expect in hot countries. Certainly wasnt down to the place being unclean anyway. A few ants, but again, you get them all over canaries.
Our main reason for the holiday was to go mountain biking and exploring further afield by car. With that in mind, we never used any facilities in the accomodation, as we were out first thing in the morning and only returned to shower and change before going to the restaurants and bars in the evening.
If you are wanting to hire mountain bikes, forget the ones in the Bristol Playa, as they look as thought they are not maintained well. We hired ours from "volcano" mountain bike shop, which is down a side street off the main street with the bank on the corner. Very well looked after. Full suspension bike was 30 euros for 3 days hire, front suspension only was 20euros and basic for 15euros. Believe me, if you intend cycling the coastal "road"/track from Corralejo to El Cotillo, you will need the front suspension at least, or you will be a wreck when you get back !!!!
Our fave bar was Chablis, which is on the main street, in the old part of town on the opposite side to the CC Atlantico. In the Atlantico, we liked Coyote and Flicks as well. Plenty of restaurants around, the mexican is nice in the plaza, and also the steak house on the main street (think it was "el torro"), but my fave was one on the sea front which served steak, but sorry, cant remember its name now.
We went over on the ferry with our bikes, to Lanzarote and had a ride around the south coast. The Armas ferry takes you to Playa Blanca and is 30euros per person return (incl. fuel charges / taxes etc) and a further 6euros to take our bikes across.
We did have a massive thunderstorm on the Thursday, and we sat up the hill taking photos and watched the tornado heading towards us (amazing site, excellent pics). On the Friday, we headed down to the American Star shipwreck, which is sadly looking as though it is about to be washed away forever. Lovely villages and towns en route, including Betancuria and Antigua. El Cotillo is also beautiful, which we visited on one of our bike rides.
Back to the Bristol Playa, and it is situated amongst the old part of town, and is surrounded by local residents accomodation, and right on the sea front. There is loads of car parking right outside the front door and extremely easy to find, even if you have never been here before. The walk into the main area takes less than a brisk 5 minute stroll, and you will pass some decent local bars along the way, which don`t attract the tourists. It`s a bit of a trek to the beach, but really the best beach is just outside Corralejo, so if you`ve got a car, then you don`t have a problem. Driving in Fuerteventura is very easy. The roads are a lot less crowded than the other canary islands and with very few roads, easy to get around

My/Our Holiday Opinion:
Just returned from a 10 night stay at the Bristol Playa. My husband and I found these apartments to be excellent. We had a room in E block (room 244) which was fairly quiet and overlooked the swimming pool. We discovered we could get a reception on our baby monitor from the pool so whilst our 18 month old toddler had his afternoon nap we got to soak up the sun.
The Bristol Playa is located in the residential part of Corralejo so you get to see how the locals live (the children going to school, the children's playground, large local supermarket (Hipo Dino) as well as experiencing the really bad paving - lots of pot holes. The hotel is situated on a headland with views across to Lanzarote. It's a 10 minute walk through town or a 20 minute walk via the promenade which leads directly to all the restaurants and bars along the seafront. The promenade made a really pleasant walk back to the hotel after dinner.
There was no daytime entertainment that we were aware of but this suited us - also no loud music blaring out so nice and quiet apart from the odd child screaming. There are no umbrellas around the pool so if you have a baby you'll need to bring your own as there's very little shade available during the afternoon. The free form pools (salt water) were very nice if a little chilly but they did seem to warm up whilst we were there. We thought the areas around the pool were quite slippery so not good for little ones wanting to explore. We ate from the snack bar once and found the food to be okay. Evening entertainment started at 22:00 - each night they seemed to have different singers. We didn't get to the hotel bar often but found the drinks to be quite expensive. Because of the location of our room we could hear the music from our balcony so preferred to sip drinks whilst overlooking the pool which was really nicely lit. The kitchen area was quite small and there was very limited work space but it was fully equipped with kettle, toaster, 2 ring cooker, microwave, coffee percolator - all we really needed.
Corralejo is a developing resort - you'll get to see lots of building sites and cranes but these are located at the opposite end of town to the BP. Although we usually favour Greece as a holiday destination we found Corralejo really pleasant - guess most Brits see it as a home from home. There were a few beaches in the town (Waikiki being the best) and if you wanted you could catch a number 6 bus (to 'Los Hoteles') which stops outside the RIU hotel which is right on the sand dunes (takes 15 minutes). There's a taxi rank for your return or you can catch the bus.
We found lots of good restaurants in the resort:
La Avenida (Spanish restaurant) don't be put off by the outside of the building as inside it is typically Spanish - bare wooden tables etc. Very good for seafood. You'll need to get there early to get a table.
La Tasca Steakhouse (round the corner from Poco Loco)
Slowboat II (Chinese restaurant in the Plaza centre)
Los Pepes which was close to the harbour and was really different from all the other restaurants - more modern European and intimate
The Bombay in C/La Milagrosa was very good
The Waikiki was really nice for an evening drink - tables right on the beach
Were to return to this resort we would return to the BP we really couldn't fault them and really liked the location. Would think twice about flying with First Choice - must be the most cramped airline ever and I'm only 5ft 2".

My/Our Holiday Opinion:
We have just returned from a weeks holiday at the Bristol Playa and we have had a lovely time there.
The apartments are clean and nicely decorated, easily up to the standard of many 4* apartments I have stayed in. We had asked for 2 rooms next to each other and were really pleased to get two rooms on the ground floor overlooking the pool with open terraces onto the pool side, this was very convenient with small children as you could easily pop back to the room during the day.
The pools were lovely with a nice poolside bar although service here could sometimes be a little slow. There is also a small supermaket onsite which stocks everything you might need, there is a larger supermarket behind the apartments next to the Jive Bunny pub but there was no difference in prices.
The only bad point about the hotel was the entertainment, the childrens disco was dreadful. It was held in a basement room with no air con or windows and so was red hot and although the entertainment girl was probably doing her best she spent so long trying to teach the children the dances with no music on there was only time to play about 2 songs by which time the little ones had lost interest. We only went once and after that stayed in town. There were daytime activities advertised in reception such as water polo etc but these never seemed to happen but this could have been the time of year.
The location is very good although there arent many other hotels in this area. It is only a 5/10 minute walk to the harbour, seafront and square area which is the nicest part of the resort. The bus station is close to the hotel where you can catch a bus to the beach every 30 mins for 1 euro each, we then got a taxi back which was about 5 euros.
We had our best meals at the Slow Boat II chinese and La Cantina mexican in the Plaza shopping centre on the main street and at the San Borondon italian on the corner of the square. We were spoilt for choice of places to eat and could have easily stayed another week without eating in the same place twice, all of the restaurants we visited were very family friendly.
Overall we had a really good holiday and I would recommend these apartments to anyone looking for good self catering accomodation.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:
We have just returned from a brilliant two week holiday to this hotel. The weather was fantastic at 30+ each day and clear blue skys.
It was our first time to this island although the people we travelled with had been there 3 times before hand so knew what to expect.
This is rated as a 3 star hotel/apartment complex and in my opinion the only thing that stops it getting 4 stars is the lack of air-conditioning in the rooms. Saying that, we slept with the windows open, nets pulled across and were not bothered by bugs or mossies at any time.
The apartment was very clean and tidy with regular bed linen and towel changes throughout our stay.
It is well situated for the shops and restaurants alike and the prices are overall pretty good. The Plaza has Mexican, Chinese and Indian restaurants in it but the prices are a bit high for what you get and the food quality isn't as good so try the smaller places in Corralejo itself.
The Castaways bar on the harbour front has live music most nights and has a good atmosphere too boot.
The small beach outside of the hotel is pretty rubbishy but for a 6 euro cab ride you could end up at Oliva Beach!! What a beach it is as well! Beautiful soft golden sands and endless dunes. The sea was quite chilly but great once you were in it and chrystal clear.
Nudity is rife along this and many other beaches on the island so be aware but you know what they say, if you cant beat them... join them... it was a great laugh!
If you have ever wondered what the medical services would be like on an island like this then I can tell you first hand.
One of our party fell on the second day and broke their upperarm. We took them to the Brisamar medical centre near the plaza and they received top class attention. She was told she would be in the pool within the week and although she never made the pool she did make the beach and sea.
All in all it was a great holiday and I would have no worries about returning to this location.
Enjoy!!

My/Our Holiday Opinion:
Returned from an extremely relaxing fortnight in the Bristol Playa. Accomodation exactly as described, minor problem with a few ants but this was swiftly resolved by reception. Complex very clean and well maintained, usual stinky water going on the plants but apart from that very good.
Hotel beach OK, the most fantastic rock pools for kids to explore in but not really for sunbathing.
10 minute walk into town centre along seafront, this area could do with a clean as it seems to be the place where every dog on the island goes to the toilet.
Town centre around music square and harbour excellent for eating out, very good quality and reasonably priced.
Blue Delphin dolphin watching / watersports trip was excellent, dolphins, amazing flying fish watersports for all ages. Banana boat / jetski for older children, younger children could ride in the speedboat as well which was well enjoyed.
Trip to Lanzarote / Timanfaya national park excellent and informative but a long day.
Big game fishing trip absolutely rubbish, flyers showing tuna / sailfish etc, english speaking etc. Reality was 2 spanish guys in a boat, taking you to various marks, leaving you with a crappy rod and a pile of squid and leaving you to get on with it. Trip was really only bottom fishing for tiny red snapper and trigger fish, don't waste your money on the Sina Maria and fish from the harbour instead. Waste of £80.
Town beach was OK but for best beaches jump in a taxi and ask for Olivia beach, about 5 euros from Bristol Playa. Fantastic beach with clear blue waters and golden sands, plenty of sunbeds / parasols and ideal for small children who enjoy jumping in the waves. If you want to see a bit more of the fish in the sea just take a handful of crisps or bread ouit with you and you will soon be surrounded.
Water park was a good day out, go on a Wednesday or Thursday as these appear to be the quietest days.
All in all an excellent holiday and we would definitely return to Fuerteventura again. Probably the least threatening place I have ever been to, no drunken chavs falling out of bars and no timeshare sellers, also felt extremely safe walking back to the hotel after an evening meal.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:
This was our third visit to this complex. It has required quite a corporate image since our first visit in 1999, unfortunately the furnishings in the apartments are now starting to show their age and most were slightly damaged. Bathrooms and the kitchen area have been refurbished and the kitchen is very well equipped, however there is very little kitchen storage space for those who are self catering. The breakfast buffet was excellent and the waitress very pleasant. The complex was let down by the litter bins around the apartments which were always overflowing. The area was also populated by emaciated, scarred cats (as a cat lover I found this distressing).
The pool area was frequently dirty with rubbish and crockery/cutlery from the pool bar lying around. Although horseplay (jumping, diving etc) was not permitted (according to notices) they did occurr and the small size and crowded nature of the pool area meant that it was unsafe and unpleasant for most of the day. Forget a sunbed unless you want to get up by 7am or take the risk of removing other peoples suntowels.
The evening entertainment was good but basic, however it did not start until 10pm (finishing between 12pm and 1am). Unfortunately it could be heard from our apartment (block C) and it was impossible to sleep until it was over. The nightime behaviour of other guests also made for some sleepless nights.
Although our two previous visits were during school holidays we will be reluctant to return during peak times. The complex is well designed and in a good location and it is possible that we were just unlucky with the other guests who stayed there during this week.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:
have just returned from our 3rd stay in Fuerteventura, our second in the Bristol Playa - we had a nice 1 bedroom apartment with a dual view - the view from the bedroom was of the pool and the view from the balcony was of the sea and Lanzarote (room 268 if anyone is interested in asking for it)
Our flights were booked seperately with first choice and though they were on time both ways the flight was the most cramped I have ever experienced. The seats are tiny! and leg room non existant.
Back to the hotel, When we arrived our room was not ready were told 30 - 40 minutes - or we could have a pool view room, as we had asked for a sea view we thought no problem, we will go and get a drink and some food, this we did and returned to reception an hour later to be told that the room was still not ready and it would be another hour! I was very annoyed at this but to there credit they contiued to offer the choice of other rooms, not sea view though so we stuck with them. Eventually a further hour and 20 minutes later we got our keys. The room was good, nice and roomy with an excellent outlook. The kitchen contains a basic 2 ring hob with a sink, toaster, coffee maker, kettle and microwave..its all fine if you want to have snacks or simple breakfast. The main living room contains a sofa bed and armchair, a small tv with english channels is free also. These rooms do NOT have air conditioning and this is a problem in the height of summer. You will need a fan or two - BUT BEWARE - the hotel hires out fans at a cost - A MASSIVE cost, one fan is 20 Euro per week plus a 20 Euro deposit. So if you have two fans (one for the bedroom and one for the lounge/bedroom) for two weeks you are looking at 80 Euro plus 40 Euro deposit!!!
We politely declined!! I decided to buy 2 fans from the local super market, Hyper Dino - they have perfect 3 speed box fans for 16 euros each...we bought one home with us and gave the other away...a massive saving on the Bristol Playa rip off hire scheme...
We didnt use the hotel much for its facilities preferring to go out everyday/evening. We used the pool for a couple of days and its fine, its the usual scrabble for sun beds, but you should be ok if you go down by 0900.
We hired a car for one week and explored the island again - you must do this - dont just sit poolside for your whole holiday!
Meal wise, we ate at a variety of restaurants, lunch time we used a Tapas bar next to Hiper Dino - called TAPA TAPA excellent food and ice cold beer. Evening meals we used our favorite Restaurant La Sirena just off the high st. Pepe will look after you with an excellent menu and wine list. For Chinese there is only one to consider Slow Boat II - this is the one inside the shopping mall next to the rock bar..best chinese i have ever tasted. For indian we used the Bombay indian again excellent food and excellent value.
We did some Scuba diving and used Abyss Divers in Corallejo - This has been taken over by new managment since we dived with them last year but the new owner Wesley was excellent and couldnt be more helpful -give him a shout he will look after you. highly recommended by me.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:
My husband, 2 children and myself have been back from our holiday in Corralejo 2 and a half weeks now and I'm still wishing i was there! For me it is the best holiday I have been on.
The hotel rooms and swimming pool were very clean (although the pool was freezing!)and the pool bar did nice snacks and drinks, the only thing that was disappointing about the hotel was the entertainment on an evening. We were glad that we stayed self catering because their were so many nice restaurants to choose from, the only one i didnt like was a chinese (Hong Kong) we had the buffet, their was'nt much left and it had gone cold. My personal favourite was a Little Italian next to crazy foto's near the square, the calzone pizza comes highly recommended also La Tasca and Poco Loco are very nice. It takes about 10/15 minutes to walk to the centre, you can either walk along the sea front or down the back streets (which is a little less windy, and you get to see all the local bars) The harbour is a nice place to chill and have a drink and a bite to eat.
The shops in Corralejo are mainly surf type (O'neill etc) some nice clothes! There is also a water park (Baku) in Corralejo which is good fun and if you go on a Monday or Friday their is a market on next door. If you fancy going further afeild i would definately recommend a trip on the Fred Olsen boat, very nice! to Lanzarote, we went on the hop and shop trip to Puerto del carmen, did'nt like it there as much as Fuerteventura but i believe the volcano trip there is meant to be fantastic. We hired a car for 3 days, the first day we went to the zoo near Jandia, great place & not crowded. The second day we went to the famous sand dunes just 10/15 min drive away, absolutely stunning! and the third day we drove out to El Cotillo a little surfy village, massive waves we had great fun there!
The reps night out is on a Sunday, the entertainment was very good but the food was poor and the location is quite a drive away on a coach, the kids enjoyed it and our Rep Lesley was very Nice!
All in all an excellent holiday, would love to go back!

My/Our Holiday Opinion:
We found the Bristol Playa to be very clean and tidy, the rooms were spotless and the towels were changed on a regular basis.
We would recommend you ask for a room with a sea view as the breeze is very welcome at night, especially after a hot day, and the view isn't bad either. The hotel staff were always very pleasant and helpful, any problems with the room we reported in the morning and when we returned at night they were rectified.
The only down side was trying to get a sun lounger (I thought it was only the Germans who put there towels over the beds the night before)this was brought to the attention of the Rep who stated that alot of people had complained and that she was going to see the hotel management, after this any towel over a bed between 8-9am was lifted and taken to reception where it could be later retrieved. I would recommend this complex!
Corralejo is a very nice resort with an abundance of good bars and fine restaurants we tried some places mentioned in previous reviews and mostly they were as reported, one restaurant we liked in particular was called Poco Loco situated on the main street this was run by an extremely friendly Don Quixote lookalike, you will see what i mean. All the waiters were friendly in particular Abdul who my kids loved. Pancho Vila near the complex is well worth a visit the food is excellent. Any bars we went into and there were many were found to be friendly and pleasant and also clean, one bar we enjoyed on a regular basis was Finnigans just off the main street, this was run by Clodagh, Marie, Mick & Dave all of them made us feel most welcome(Mick&Dave hope you get the sports channels up and running before my next visit).
The water park is worth a visit 50euros for a family of four park is well supervised, my kids spent the whole day there so it was good value for money especially if you take your own food and drink. Car hire is very cheap and getting around the island is a breeze we only got lost once when we went to see the shipwreck, note of caution once you leave the main road it,s not a car you need it,s a tank but it was worth the hassle. One beach we found on our travels was at El Cotillo approx 25mins from Corralejo,it was stunning! 1-2mls of Golden sand Huge waves and not more than a hundred people on it!
El Cotillo is due for major development soon so see it before it gets busy, try and visit Caleta De Fuste, this is also a lovely resort, great bars and resturants extremly clean and family friendly, it also has a great beach. One thing i must say on many occasions we walked back to the bristol playa through the back streets late at night and never felt threatened or worried, in all we found the resort friendly, clean and safe. Hope these comments help you to decide on your holiday, previous reviews helped us to decide.
We will definetly retun to Fuerteventura

We have just returned from a brilliant two weeks spent at the Bristol Playa, i wish i was still there.
The weather was fantastic - the sun was always shining and the breeze was lovely.
The apartments were spotless and spacious - we had a sea view (room 163).
The resort is about a fifteen min walk - u can either walk through the old town where all the locals live or down the lovely sea front walk from the Bristol Playa to the harbour where all the nice restaurants are.
I dont know what all the fuss has been over Blue Jeans on here - it is expensive and you dont get much for your money.
but i am glad i tried it just the once or i would never have found the 'Sports Bar' which is across the road. This bar contributed to a fantastic holiday - it is relaxed, owned by two lovely people who make you very welcome. You must come here.
Make sure you go on the Catlanza cruise - it is definitely worth it. 5o euros for an afternoon of luxury - as much drink and food as you want and you get to laze in the sun on the front of the catamarabn. it docks in Lanzarote and you go off on a jet ski or snorkel or just sit and eat lunch in the sun. a lovely afternoon.
ensure you visit the sand dunes and Flag beach. this is 10 mins up the road in a taxi and is lovely. you just ask to be dropped at the dunes which are breathtaking, and then taxis line up near the beach to bring you back.
all in all a great time, already wanting to book up again.

Hi,
Me and my boyfriend have just returned from Bristol Playa in Corralejo. After reading some of the reports on this site we decided to opt for this one as some of the others didn't sound quite so nice.
When we arrived we was pleasantly surprised as some of the other resorts we passed by didn't look that much. Our apartment was just as the brochure had said,(usually the pics in the brochure are timeshare ones but no this time we got what we booked) definately the best resort we have had in years. The staff are really friendly and helpful.
We went to this great restaurant, you would not probably go in when walking past but it was the best meal and service we had while we were there it was the first restaurant you came to when entering Corralejo harbour, it resembled a ship or boat when entering. The next best entertainement we had was the new drag bar which has just opened, we was very weiry of this as we have never been to one but when we got there it was a great night and children were allowed in too. The drag queen was from Nottingham and gave a great nights entertainment.
We would definately go back again.
p.s While you are there try a tapas......

My/Our Holiday Opinion:
We have just come back from a wonderful holiday in Fuerteventura. We decided to stay at the Hesperia Bristol Playa and we are glad we did!!
This hotel, although given a 3 star rating is definitly a 4 star hotel. The whole complex was really nice and very clean. The apartment we stayed it was lovely overlooking the pool and extremely clean. We couldn't have asked for more. The room was cleaned daily and we had clean towels and sheets every other day.
We were staying self catering but did sample food from the pool bar which was really nice - lovely cocktails too!
The Bristol Playa is about a 5 minute walk into the main part of correlejo where you will find some lovely restaurants and bars. I was led to believe that the resort was very quiet but was pleasantly surprised as there were plenty to places to eat and drink (we never ate in the same restaurant twice). Not that the restaurants weren't nice we just wanted to try more as there is so much choice. I would recommend Gibsons which is just off the high street, this is a lovely restaurant if you like to sample food from all over. The Bombay House Indian is also very nice. Waterside is a really nice (well hidden) place to go for lunch - it is just off Waikiki beach.
Talking of beaches, the beaches are lovely. If you walk along the prom you will get to a beach called Waikiki which is a lovely beach with nice clear waters and a couple of reastaurants to eat lunch there too.
If you are a beach person you must head off to the Sand Dunes which is a 10 minute taxi ride away or you can get the number 6 bus from just outside the Bristol Playa. We went to a beach there called Glass Beach near the Rui hotel. It is called Glass Beach beacause the water is as clear as glass! It is beautiful and very similar to the beach in Cancun, Mexico (but without the waves!) very nice!
For a families and couples, Correlejo is the place to go and by far the Bristol Playa looked the best hotel.
Excellent holiday.

WOW!!! What a great holiday.
My partner and i have just got back from Fuerteventura and it was one of the best holidays i've had.
The accommodation was lovly(and very clean) and the pool was huge.(But be aware of the pool as it can be very cold).
We had a sea view at the front of our apts and a pool view at the back.(room 217)
The resort was perfect lots of places to eat.(I would recomend eating around the harbour, lovly)
Also on the main street there was a few livley bars.
Also you have to go to the beach,2euros in a taxi, (clear blue sea and white sand.)
We WILL be visiting here again.

For our first holiday abroad it was excellent.
The apartment was nice and was kept clean by maid service 5 days a week and always clean towels provided. Pool was cold but once you get in you don't want to get out, kids were in pool at every opportunity. The poolside bar did nice cheap meals, we didn't get chance to try the hotel resteraunt but heard comments from other guests that they did a wicked breakfast.
Entertainment through the day at the hotel was provided by Ariel (a friendly German woman)every day if you could be bothered to get up off sunlounger and take part(only a handful of people decided to join in).
Eating out....our first night there we were out looking for a place to eat and got persuaded into Pali (a chinese buffet near taxi rank)I'll not say anymore, we didn't go there again.
The best place to eat is La Dolce Vita (hi Jason)excellent food and service. If you don't eat all your pizza they will put the rest in a box for you to take away. The meals provided are very good value for money.
Another good place to eat is Gibson's,turn right just after Mango shop and you will find it at the top of street on left hand side. British owners and again very good food.
The Waterside resteraunt did a very good sunday roast(being traditional).
Don't fall for anyone saying you have won top prize on the scratchcards(we did),you will only waste your day and be annoyed with yourself.
Market is good on Monday and Friday, don't be drawn in with cheap gold and get haggling.
Crazy Photo's is a little place near music square and what they do is send photographers out on the street and beach and take loads of photo's of everybody(with their permission)and then give you a card to go to their shop and have a look at your photo's. If you want you can buy them but there is no obligation to buy. I thought it was a good idea because sometimes they can capture really good family photo's together as they did with my family.
Anyway I could go on forever but I won't, to say it all we had a fantastic time and look forward to coming again very soon!

Booked a last minute Holiday through 'First Choice' for myself and two daughters. Even tho we were only 3 people travelling, we were allocated a 2 bedroomed apartment! Could not fault the complex, apartment, pools or staff.
Prime Apartment (no 346) overlooking pools with fantastic sea views to front and rear. Had a 'back balcony' as well so we had sun all day long. This is a perfect place for relaxtion. We do not go on organised tours and did not even attend the 'welcome meeting'. Did not see the 'Rep' from the day we arrived until we left but that was our choice!
Ate out every night in town. If you stroll along the sea wall it will bring you into the harbour and Old Town which is delightful. Our favourite resturant was the 'Dolce Vita'in the cobbled Music Square. It is owned and run by Jason and the food is wonderful.
The Bristol Playa is apart from the other Hotels and Apartments and whilst sometimes (in a party of 3 woman), it was a little 'spooky' walking back at night, I much preferred the location to the others. It was very quiet and from our apartment you went to sleep listening to the waves! Wish we were back!
Finally, the reception staff were brilliant about 'late checkout'. We had an evening flight. and for a small fee, we were able to stay in the apartment up to the time we left. this added another full day to our holiday. i will definately return.

Having stayed in various apartments in correlejo over the years, these are without doubt the best.Everything works including plenty of hot water. They belong to an upmarket hotel group who have invested in the apartments and it shows.Very friendly reception open 24/7.a lot of attention to maintenance and cleaning. All requests are attended to straight away, especially in the housekeeping depts.Rooms are well equipted.
It is situated in the spanish quarter, well away from the building sites that dot correlejo,so very quiet. On the sea front with lovely views and the promenade has been cleaned up!!No nasty smells or mossies while we were there.(wish we were back)!!
One advantage is the cheaper priced local shops. For food use Hiperdino supermarket,up the side st just above Jive Bunny at the back of the flats but for fresh bread try Pan Suso just up the side st below Jive Bunny.Open from 7am daily.Try the hot crossiants for breakfast.Size of a side plate for 50p.
Eating out...
We tend to stick to Spanish fish eateries such as sotovento, overlooking the harbour, try the fish & seafood casserole, but our favorite is Maison Eve(formally oscars)go through music square onto the cobbled street and its first on the left.Jose who runs it is a die hard Liverpool fan, great sense of humour & loves to talk about them.Give him a try,the food and the service are excellent & prices very reasonable. If you order sole,go hungry, they are huge!Spanish cuisine at its best.
For Italian try Di Napoli on the high st next to the Underground or for a real eat as much as you want, you can buy dinner for 19 euro at the 4 star Atlantis palace Hotel.First rate.
We would not recommend the italian San Borondon opposite music square. was delived a `hot` starter which was cold, started to eat it,sent it back. Was returned 2 mins later still part eaten but microwaved.Nice location but until they employ a chef its best left alone.
Wonderful holiday, clean unpolluted air and seas with white sand beaches the best this side of the caribbean.El Cotillo is worth a visit, the best beach is next to Bar Torino,on a clear lagoon safe for kids and idyllic.True paradise. Will return

Appartments are basic but clean, cleaner came in 5 times a week fresh linen, towels etc What ever you do DO NOT feed the cats or you will never get rid of them!- Pool absaloutely FREEZING !
entertainment could have been better at hotel - but we tended to go into town 5-10 mins stroll- an absaloute must for eating out is the italian in the music square opposite the jewlers the outside may be covered depending on weather- young lad outside (Jothri)food is out of this world they are very accomodating dont miss it it is great!
Blue Jeans- overrated and expensive
For a great english breakfast come out of the front entrance of hotel and walk for approx 5-10 mins on main road- (sun something)oops and dont forget Windy Miller - British bakers- out back entrance accross first street on your right - great bacon rolls.taxis very cheap- for an entertaining night out go to Sadies- dont even bother with imagine it is BORING- Dont get caught by someone saying you have won a prize on a scratch card- jumping up and down we were sucked in !-
Overall a great holiday, weather was great - cold in the eveing so take a jacket

My/Our Holiday Opinion:
The apartments are quite basic but sufficiently stocked for a week or two. They were spotlessly clean (maid service 5 days a week) but the furniture, cupboards could have done with a bit of updating. We had problems with ants in the apartment and our beds but as soon as we told reception we were given a choice of other apartments to move to and apologies were given. We chose a ground floor room exiting onto the swimming pool area which was handy for the pool and reception. Although we didn't try the restaurant we did eat at the poolside bar and the food was always good.
Unfortunately the age old problem of people reserving the sun beds reared it's ugly head. The first couple of days were fine as people were only using them as and when needed but part way through our holiday a new lot of people turned up and out came the towels. There were still plenty of unused beds but most of the sunny spots were reserved early on. There is a lot of building work taking place and wherever you look you will see cranes in the distance. There was some work being carried out near the apartments but fortunately it was not that noisy.
This island is really one to go to if you simply want to eat and sunbath. There is not a lot else to do unless you are into water sports.
If you want some really good food in Corralejo make sure you go to La Dolce Vita in the Music Square where Jason will welcome you and the food and drink is excellent. They have live entertainment every night and the singer on a Saturday night (Stephen Faulkes) is definitely worth a listen.
We also found that the Indian restaurant called The Bombay in C/La Milagrosa in Corralejo consistently offered some very good meals at a good price.
Watch out when buying electrical goods. They aren't necessarily cheaper than the UK. Remember to check the prices over here first and the exchange rate. Be wary when you find something much cheaper than the UK. Although it may be marked cheaper they will say they do not have it or keep the stock in a different place and will try and sell you something else with lots of expensive accessories. We found some goods were much cheaper back in the UK so check your prices first and make sure you haggle. We ended up purchasing our electrical goods in Corralejo at 'Link' near the Plaza shopping centre. One fixed price but what we purchased was cheaper than if bought in the UK.
Also check out the market in Corralejo on a Monday and Friday - well worth a visit for some really good clothes prices.

Hotel was of a very good standard, with good facilities, and a well laid out pool area with pool bar where they served drinks and snacks. Pool was freezing but expected for this time of year. We noticed that the area located for our travel company was not of prime position but at back of complex overlooking main bar. the resort is loaded with very good bars/restaurants. Would recommend VisatLobas Restaurant on the harbour centre overlooking beach, excellent food/service with a lovely restaurant inside, washed down with a bottle of their red tinache Lanzarote wine. Dolce vita on the music square is worth a visit especially if you like pizza.
Breakfast is a must at Elas breakfast bar to the right of harbour beach overlooking the sea, where John and Ela maintain a freindly service. For a drink at night the hello bar half way up the high street in a right side street, you will find Sabee who maintains a friendly contempory bar.
It is worth hiring a car or taxi and spending a day on Olivia beach where the two Riu hotels are situated (by the sand dunes) with lunch at the beach restaurant.
Also a day at the zoo is a must!
Happy holidays!!!

Our Hotel was changed to the Bristol Playa two days before we flew ,so we arrived with some trepidation.
We were not dissapointed, the room had a fantactic sea view (253)and was spotless and had obviously been recently refurbished.
The maid cleaned the room every day apart from Wednesday ( bit pointless as she had more to clean on the Thursday)
Swimming pool very clean, freezing, get it heated.
Kids entertainment very good especially mini disco.
Correljo is like abuilding site at one end they seem to be knocking hotels down and building apartment for sale £100,000 for two beds.Don't conteplate it as an oil rig is planned for the straight between Fuerte and Lanzarote.
Sand dunes out of down breathtaking, although a little disconcerting in oneplace we seemed to be in a Gay cruising area not nice with two kids.
Car hire very cheap 33 Euros a day take a trip to south with some of the best beaches in Canaries.
Thompson planned trips an absolute rip off, we had a car and could do most things for a fraction of the price,at our own pace.Trip to Lobos make sure you haggle we got both kids for free.
Locals all very friendly,Hipo Dino supermarket near Hotel dirt cheap.
We eat out at a new place nearly every night,no dissapointing meals.
El Sombrero near taxi rank in town good and El patio very intimate, well as quiet as two kids will allow.
Even thought the weather was not very sunny we had a great time.

We've just returned from Corralejo and had a great time. The waether was fantastic- had a few dull mornings, but the sun always managed to shine! Evenings were very cool- so bring a jacket!
The "beach" right in front of the hotel, is not really one for sunbathing etc as it is very rocky, and you would find it very difficult to go into the sea for a cool off, as the waves are very big, and you could easily hurt yourself on the rocks. Most people tend to go out and fish in the little rock pools with nets which can be bought very cheaply there. The kids both enjoyed it.
We tended to go in the Sports Bar alot at night... lovely people and a great place to watch any soaps or tv programmes etc.
The best Indian is definitly Bombay, and for chinese, it is Slow Boat III- fabulous food!
Didn't like Blue Jeans Steak House...pretty pricey and it wasn't the best we'd had.
We tended to visit the Tapas Bar called "Meson Jada" just before Hiper Dino off the side street- fab food, v cheap and lovely people- well worth a visit.
The accommodation was lovely- very clean and well set out. We were in a one bedroomed apt, and there were 4 of us. We found that the 2 "beds" in the lounge were very uncomfortable, one kept breaking and the other was a sofa- it felt like sleeping on wooden boards.
The Pool was absolutely freezing! The kids hardly went in as it was so cold! There were no umbrellas around the pool either, and to get a sunbed you had to put the towels out before 8am.
There was also a particularly bad sewage smell around the complex, which was rather unpleasant at times.
The weekly market in Corralejo was absolutely rubbish!! Don't even bother going, a big waste of time.
The British Bakery was good, made lovely "packs" of food for us to take to the airport and also, it was cheap.
Overall, had a wonderful time in Corralejo and we were all sad to leave, but definitly a gread holiday :)

Just returned home from a week in Correlejo. The holiday was a surprise for my partners Dad's 70th birthday.
The Bristol Playa was a lovely complex, we had 4 apartments right next to the pool bar on the ground floor. Cannot fault any of them. They were clean, spacious, with kettle, toaster and microwave. The shower had constant hot water (a novelty in some places!)The pools were as cold as everyone said, it took a couple of gin and tonics to get the courage up to jump in! The Bristol Playa is definatley in the residential area of the town but is only 5 min walk to the main High Street and Music square.
The beach nearby was not one you could sit on and sunbathe or let the kids make sand castles as it was very rocky and not much sand. Went to Blue Jeans as it had been recommended but was not one of our favourites. Good places were La Tasca and Poco Loco. weather at this time of year was a little unsettled although it was shorts weather, the sun did not break through the clouds until the last 2 days of the holiday.
Everyone had a fab time and would definately do it again.

Didnt read any reviews about this hotel before I left because didnt want to be dissapointed because it was only a 3 star accomodation. To my absolute joy the apartment complex was gorgeous, room looked like only just been refurbished, maid was there that much thought she wanted to move in, towels everyday bar two over a two week period.
Pool was fab especially in the night all lit up, however absolutely freezing, my husband thought he'd had ice stuck on him when he got out his skin was tingling. Had a really bad week weather wise for the first week, window leaked, but hotel offered us two rooms to swap to but we preferred the one we were in right opposite the pool 142, so we stayed and window was sealed straight away, the locals did say they had never seen weather like it before, week two different story weather fab.
Go and see all the gang at Jive Bunny, the friendliest bar alright, Martin and lisa do a fab brekkie and Tony the owner can and i must stress this can be beaten in chess as my son (aged 10) proved just over three times. Totally lovely people made us feel very welcome, we even had a tab going at one time, big hello to our mate the ex pat richie too, who called in from work for a pint or four every other night....
Had the best steak at La terraza just off the high street turn left at the poco loco steak house, also a lovely meal at the harbour little place at the back of the music square called sin juan, fab curry at Taj mahal too, great and i say great paella bar at the end of the road that La terraza is on cant remember the name right on its own beach. Also cant go wrong in the chinese buffet hong kong right on the main high street, cheapest meal we had there but you were able to fill your boots. Nice sports bar just up the street opposite the atlantico centre on the high street, friendly staff look after you dont even have to get out of your seat for a drink when theres a match on, they even show all the soaps.
Market was good for all the usual tak, i got a lovely wooden statue he wanted 60 euros, i gave him 22 and he accepted, so always haggle.
Water park right next to market we couldnt believe it we went there half term week and we there was only 10 people in the whole place kids got straight on everything.
Although i always like to go to differnt places on my hols if i ever had the chance to go back here i would stay at the bristol playa and go and see all the staff at Jive Bunny.

we found the hotel very clean, the staff were very welcoming.
we had booked 5 quiet rooms , but were placed very close to tha bar area.
the rooms were a little cramped for 3 adults ( the sofa bed was not really suitable for a 6 foot 6 teenager).
the swimming pools were freezing.
we were staying self-catering so we did not try the food in the hotel.
one little gripe....... the cost of playing tennis was a little to high.
6 euros per hour plus 3 euros to borrow their rackets, an expensive couple of hours.
we found plenty of places to eat out in the evening, blue jeans steak house was a particular favourite.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:
Just returned from correlejo and I can't decide if i enjoyed or not - the weather was very iffy. It was apparently the worst weather they had had for 30 years and a couple of nights were colder than in uk - typical. There wasn't much to do in the rain and cold apart from sit in bars but once the weather brightened it was a really enjoyable holiday.
We found a lovely beach at El Cotillo where we did a bit of body boarding, great fun for the 14 year old. Not much for teenagers but older daughter enjoyed the nights. We found a great bar - Rock Island Bar where we ended up nearly every night, it has a really relaxing atmosphere and also the imagine bar too - another live music bar. If you like the kind of place where the parents are drunk and the kids run riot then a bar called the Stables will be the place for you - but not for us, we found it quite intimidating and rather loud. Another decent bar was the Venue with the singing dog - although he just howled really but not a bad place it had a playstation for the kids and the owners were really friendly.
The best value for money place we ate was a little bar called the Waterside. It is tucked away off the main strip but is well signed. It was lovely food - probably the best we ate all fortnight and not expensive either. Probably the worst meal was at the Blue Jeans Steak House although we only went there because of recommendations from this site - but each to their own I suppose. We found it quite expensive and not the best steak in the world either. The best steak was at the Rock Cafe. We did eat at Slow Boat II in the Atlantico Centre and this was delicious too.
I don't know if i would return - probably the weather put me off as you see everything in a different light when it's raining but all in all not a bad holiday.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:
My husband and I stayed at the Bristol Playa, and thought it was a great hotel, our apartment was right opposite the hotel bar, but this did not bother us at all. The rooms were very clean and spacious, but I recommend that you take a bottle opener with you as they lacked these, and even reception could not supply us with one!! The pool is great, but too cold to swim in, but it was January! And found it very hard to find a sunbed as they had all been reserved at 10am, so get there early!! We were self catering, but four of the days we had the buffet breakfast, which was 7 euros each, well worth it, could each as much as you liked. The location of the hotel is more in the residential part of the resort with just a short walk away to the centre. The hotel sits just opposite a small beach, which I found to be the dirtiest beach I have ever seen.
We walked to the sand dunes a couple of times, which is quite breathtaking, fantastic beaches, with pure golden sand, well worth the walk. But be aware a part of the beach has many nudists!
We went on a excursion which was very dissapointing, it was a dolphin safari, and cost us 60 euros each, it was a british run excursion, we were expecting to see dolphins, whales, hammer head sharks and flying fish, well all we saw was the odd sea gull. The man in charge said it was an unlucky day, but we had a feeling he said that more than he let on.The boat had also said that we would stop at a beautiful lagoon and snorkel, we did but the water was so mirky you could not see anything, the boat trip was enjoyable, but felt it was far too dear for what we got, I say stick to the tours that your holiday firm reccommend, we will be now.
The resturants in the resort were good, the best one was the thai on the harbour, I am a very fussy eater but found this one superb, highly reccommended.

Had a wonderful time at Bristol Playa over New Year. Apartments clean and spacious. Weather was glorious. Couldn't believe I was sitting by the pool enjoying a G & T on the 1st January! Take a jacket for nightime as it gets rather chilli! Best restaurant had to be Gibsons, on the side street up from MANGO.

This was our third visit to Corralejio, during the christmas/newyear period. The hotel had to be the best by far, from the rooms being spacious, spotless, to the location, just outside all the hustle and bustle, but the views were brill. The staff at the hotel were helpful and friendly if you needeed anything one quick phone call and within 5 mins it was with you.
I wont tell you which restaurants to visit as others already do but La terreza does the best steaks and hot spots the best english brekies, but one resturant i must give credit to is The Bombay an Indian resturant best by far, word of warning though go early or book it is always full. Food is out of this world, oh best tapas Caracoles - fab. Go and see Paul in the sports bar typical scouser always plays youll never walk alone during a liverpool game nice man.
Hire a car dead cheap and the rest of the island its only small you could see most of it in a couple of days, sand dunes are brillent, water park looks grt never went as it was dec and pools not to warm, you can visit lanzarote just a small ferry across about 20 mins or so.
in all a great time was had by all of us. Christmas time is a grt time to visit weather not to bad we got a tan hotter than England. So give it a go.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:
We stayed at the Bristol Playa over Christmas this year, firstly the hotel is known as either just the Bristol Playa or Hesperia Bristol Playa, they are the same place, the word Hesperia refers to the chain of hotels that this one belongs to, Hesperia is a Spanish owned hotel chain dealing in 5 star hotels.
Our rooms in the hotel were chalet type with bedroom, bathroom, kitchenette and living room, this is similar to all other canarian hotels, the rooms are clean and the maid service is often, we did experience a few problems with small ants but nothing the local insect spray didn’t resolve, we found the cheaper option and booked the holiday independently, we opted for indirect flights via Madrid and saved ourselves over £100 each on the flight alone.
On arrival at the airport you can either take a Taxi of which is around 35 Euros per taxi (there are estate cars so 4 people and 4 suitcases were no problem) there is a tariff board outside the airport telling you the prices and as we didn’t arrive with a tour group there were no q’s for the taxi’s.
A far easier and cheaper option was to take the local Bus, again there is a fare board outside the airport (to the left for busses, right for taxi’s) the Busses are more like coach’s with air conditioning and luggage can be placed underneath, to get to Bristol Playa there is one change at Puerto Rosario, you need a number 3 bus to Puerto Rosario (it’s the last stop so easy) then a number 6 bus to Corralejo (this stops at the bus station the last stop and the hotel is a 2 minute walk away) at the change at Rosario all you have to do is get off one bus and onto the other as its at the same stop, the coast single for the whole journey is 3euro 55!!! And the busses go every 30 minutes.
Corralejo itself is OK for a week but would get a little boring if any longer in the winter, the Blue Jeans steak House in my parties opinion was a let down, the meal was no bigger than that of any other restaurant but more expensive, beware of restaurants with candles on the table, my advice would be to put them out if you have anyone with long hair with you!! The best and cheapest place to drink that offers live music and quiz’s would be the three pubs at the top of the High St, the underground, 60’s & 70’s pub. Cheapest super market for food is Hypo dino (or similar spelling)
Best pizza is at Don Camillo’s as it is made fresh in front of you.
Two words of warning though, the Hotel does NOT have hair dryers despite what people or brochures say, also be careful buying electronics from the shops, we had a bad experience.

Overall a really good choice, thanks to the comments on this site.
Hotel
The hotel was by far one of the best I had seen on the island, so definitely a good choice. The only negative thing were the two reception staff, who I felt were quite unhelpful and although provided a speedy check in appeared to be detached from the rest of the hotel as any questions you asked pertaining to the hotel they could not answer and appeared to fob you off.(perhaps they were new-not sure)
Apartments
The apartments were very comfortable clean and well kept. We stayed in a one bedroomed apartment which was a suitable size for two adults and a child. It is clear that the cleaners take pride in their job as everything was spotless. The towels were changed daily and the floor was moped daily. Unfortunately we didn't use the hotel facilties such as the bar, pool etc much, however we did have one meal which was not particularly impressive, the fries looked and tasted as though they had been fried two days before, but overall the bar staff were friendly and helful.
Resort
The resort was pleasant lots of shops especially in the middle of the town. If your a shopaholic- perhaps not the place for you-much better for souvenirs and resturants etc. Just to note though we did find it difficult communicating with the locals as a lot of them were not fluent/did not speak english, so perhaps it is a good idea to brush up on you spanish before you go as it can be difficult. We were fourtunate to have visited the Oasis park a must for families, it is an excellent day out. It consists of camel rides, parrot, reptiles, sea lions, birds of prey shows, a zoo with loads of animals and a botanical garden. It cost 41.00 Euro's for adults and child was free and you had a buffet lunch included. We managed to book this through a holiday rep who was at the hotel.(difficult to find independent companies to book tours etc through. We felt that it was a good deal.was a thoughly enjoyable and entertaining day out.
Weather
The weather was fairly warm 22-25oc, although it felt colder in the breeze on some days, but nevertheless it is a good idea to bring a light jacket. We were there at the time when the locusts decided to visit also. As you can imagine it was an experience.
Hope this is helpful!!!!!

Have just got back from our second holiday at the Bristol Playa and thoroughly enjoyed it again!
The whole complex is clean and well equipped and the majority of the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The pool felt even colder this year than last so expect to not be able to breathe for about ten minutes if you are brave enough to go in - best to jump rather than try and be graceful! Perhaps it's just the time of year that we go.
The best places to eat in the evenings are Blue Jeans Steakhouse, Avenida and the Medieval Carvery, and Windy Miller's British Bakery or Oceano Atlantico for brilliant english breakfasts. Steer clear of the restaurants in the harbour - they seem to attract custom because of their position rather than the quality of the food!
The entertainment in the Bristol Playa can be "interesting" as someone else's review says, but some of it is quite fun - the magician and the reggae singer were good.
Sadies's Drag Bar is a MUST for a brilliant night out. We had the best laughs of our two week holiday in there. While Sadie does give out quite a bit of stick to the gents that take her fancy, it is all done in really good humour and no-one is made to look stupid. The staff are friendly and the show doesn't start until about 10pm so plenty of time to eat first.
We would recommend Corralejo to anyone.

Just got back form Fuerte, great hol.
Apartment spotless maid in almost every day, beds changed twice in the two weeks. One bed apart, but plenty room one kid on sofa one on zed-bed in lounge area no probs. Weather the best, tried to rain one day, rain dried before hit the ground lasted all of five min.
Corralejo itself is a bit of a building site at the moment all works must be completed within three years, so it's a bit like no time to spare at moment. The water park is completed but there is some issue over charges, as yet no date for opening. Bristol Playa is in the old town/ Harbour area and to be honest is the only accomodation i would use after seeing where others were dropped off.
Laods to see and do. Glass bottom boat to Lobos island's a good trip. Camel safari-agricultural museum La Rosita is good, plus loads more. Eating out La Chama, Blue Jeans Steak House, La Rosa De Venti. Dont do the mex with the hores and cart outside or Avenida across the road from it, yuk!.WIndy Millar's british bakery if u can't live without a pie.Local honey rum served after all meals yum! kid's get lolly's, book dentist before you leave HE HE! The local market on Mon and Fri great fun haggeling the prices, loads oh fake Gucci etc. Watch the jewlery those of you with nicol allergy it's not what they say it is. i needed the chemist to rid me of the allergy it caused. The pools are great deep and cold just what's needed to cool off. Poolside bar good 3euro a pint,2euro for ice lolly. Foods more expensive in hotel supermarket. We went JMC(Thomsons) went without a hitch perfect, watch the price of tour op's trips do them much cheaper yourself.Cost of a good meal wine etc never more that 70euro.Stock up on essentials at Hypo dino supermarket, good bottle of wine for the bolcony 3euro. Be prepared for a layed back holiday nothing done in a hurry there great!

Our first visit to Fuerteventura and yes I would return again in a few years time but maybe to see another area.
Bristol Player rooms kept clean and tidy and no complaints about the hotel except I wish they had a sunbed rule stopping people hogging the sunbeds, we saw towels sunbathing all day on their own!
Bristol Player is situated away from most of the other hotels but not too far to get to anywhere. Lots of resturants to try out. Our favorites were the Blue Jeans steak house and Gibsons which had the biggest vegetarian menu I've ever seen, both resturants made you feel very welcome, theres also a nice mexican near the hotel which I wished we'd gone too for a second night as it had a nice atmosphere what with the live singer. It's very cheap to eat out we rarely spent over 40 euros a night for meal and drinks.
Would recommend going on the fire mountains trip as you get to see most of Lanzarote and theres many stop offs and things to see and do.
The best thing about Fuerteventura was the weather, fantastic every day, sometimes it may start cloudy but then by midday its hot and sunny again, very breezy too which keeps you cool. Apparently it only rains 16 days a year!

My/Our Holiday Opinion:
Wonderful holiday. Apartments very clean.
Pool and poolside also cleaned daily. When the septic tanks are being emptied (once a month) the smell can last in some areas of the hotel for most of the day but we weren't unduly bothered. However, someone with an easily disturbed stomach might feel differently.
Sometimes getting the comfortable sunbeds that aren't all plastic is a little tricky but as long as your up before mid morning, it's usually ok. If you want the sun all day, get up early to put the beds on the bridge, otherwise you'll be in the shade from time to time. The sunbeds are all stacked in the evening.Snacks from the poolside bar take a while to arrive but they're worth the wait.
Hotel entertainment is - interesting! Well actually it's dismal. We heard the singer briefly on the night we arrived and was told by others that he was the best! We never stayed in after that! There is a lot of unfinished building work going on in the back streets but maybe we always passed at the wrong time. Corralejo is a spreading resort. The town centre is very busy at night for a lot of the restaurants so advise that you don't go out too late to eat.
Best places to eat? Well, opposite the tennis courts of the hotel is a british owned bar which serves the best proper english breakfasts we've ever eaten abroad. It's called Jive Bunny and the owner, Tony, makes everyone very welcome.
Blue Jeans steakhouse is a must at least twice. Steak there is like nothing you'll ever have eaten. No fat, no gristle, just pure lean meat and lots of it so beware of eating anything up to 6 hours before you dine (and this is not exaggerated in any way! Portions are immense!)
Another must is Los Caracoles Tapas bar. Don't be put off by the word Tapas. The food is sensational and the chef, Oscar, is so gifted. This place is off the Music square, up a small alley, the other end of which comes out by an opticians. If you like Indian, go to Bombay India (I think it's called). It's on the corner by the childrens play area at the back of the main street. Their lamb special dish is gorgeous.
Lastly, two Italian. One is called La Mama and is round the corner from the taxi rank at the back of the centre where the upstairs bars are and the other one is up the main street to the island and turn right. There is an undercover shopping centre and it's in there. Locals eat at both of these and we know why.
The little train which used to be able to take you to the dunes and around various places no longer runs because the taxi drivers complained about it apparently, but there is a bus to take you or the taxi fare is 5 euros including a tip to the beach/dunes. There is also a phone booth just up from the beach where taxis pull up in the afternoon to take you back again.
Finally, wouldn't hesitate about going back to the apartments and this resort, we loved it!

My/Our Holiday Opinion:
Just got back from the Bristol Playa, where we had a great time.
We were in Block C which backs on to the road, which is not much of a problems apart from around 8.30 on weekdays when lots of traffic from the Lanzarote ferry drives past your window! There is some building work going on on the other side of the road at the moment, but it's not too noisy. It certainly didn't spoil our stay.
The apartment was very clean (no cockroaches at all!) and the kitchen area was well kitted out. We had a couple of problems when we arrived (the key wouldn't turn in the lock and the bin hadn't been empted), but these were solved within two minutes!!!
We were going to book our week's holiday through the JMC brochure, but when I did it independently (same room, same flights, just no transfer), I saved myself £600! Even with two taxi transfers at 35 euros each way, we were quids in, and we arrived at the resort about two hours before the tour people on the bus. Food for thought...
The pool area is lovely, and although the pools are cold at first, you soon get used to it. One pool is a small, shallow kiddies pool, one is a deep adults pool, and the third - well for a small part of it, it's shallow, but then quickly gets very deep. The consequence is that most of the older kids (aged 5-15) are all squashed in one end of the third pool. Not ideal.
The pool bar is handy, although quite expensive and the service is a bit slow. The food is ok, but the people who work there are very friendly.
Corralejo itself is a very relaxed town. Despite the fact that we went in the middle of the summer holidays, it seemed very empty and we didn't have to queue for anything (restaurants, mini golf, etc). All the good, authentic restaurants are down towards the harbour. The food was excellent and the service was great. Make sure you visit them at least a couple of times, rather than relying on the many Chinese places.
The small beaches are uncrowded and the sand is soft and clean. The sea was lovely. Some people have a problem with the wind (no, not the indigestion kind!), as it does blow a bit, but we found that this just cooled us down on some very hot days and was quite welcome.
Apart from sitting by the pool/beach, eating, drinking and playing mini golf, there's not a lot to do in Corralejo, but we think that's a good thing. If you're looking for a quiet holiday spent relaxing, this is for you. There are no yobbos partying til the early hours, everyone we met was very friendly, and all in all, it was just what we needed. Our young boy, who's 6, had a great time, too.
Would we go again? Well, we've been before (at Christmas a couple of years ago), so we think we've 'done' Fuerte now. But if you've never been, we'd recommend it as a family holiday.

After reading reviews on this site, I was really looking forward to going to the Bristol Playa, and we weren't disappointed. We had a 2 bedroomed apt overlooking the sea with a wonderful view of Lanzarote. The maid service was excellent with towels being changed almost daily. Because we were sea view we had a lovely breeze in the afternoon and at night which was a god send, especially as at times it was 45 degrees (apparently one day 49!, although with the breeze it is bearable). The complex itself is wonderful very clean and relaxing, no rowdy people or loud music. It was perfect for relaxing by the pool while the kids played in the swimming pools (which definately woke you up in the morning, they were quite chilly). Entertainment was there if you wanted it, but fine if you didn't. Entertainment at night was good.
RESORT
Bristol Playa is situated in the residential part and I would definately say the best part to be in. It was lovely walking through the residential area and seeing how spainish people live, the kids playing in the big play ground and the locals sitting outside the bars, you definately knew you were abroad. The residential part isn't a scenic place so don't be shocked by the building work and graffitti, at the end of the day it's where people live not just a holiday resort.
EATING OUT
Food is fine although most of the restaurents serve the same ie fish and steak. Would recommend Blue Jeans (especially the argentian steak), Los Garacoles, a wonderful little tapas bar, where for 30 euros you get a bottle of wine and 6 'surprise' tapas dishes (all of which were gorgeous). Rock Cafe is great for a change of scenery and music, best burger I have ever tasted and very reasonably priced. Chablis is a nice bar to go and drink in, lovely cold San Miguel and very friendly staff. Also had a indian takeaway from the indian by the playground on the way into town (can't remember what it was called, but it was fantastic, especially eating it on your balcony, with a wonderful sea view and glass of wine).
All in all would go back to Correljo and definately Bristol Playa. Seeing as we have 2 children it was the most relaxing holiday we've ever had. ENJOY.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:
We started with a great flight to Fuerteventura. On arrival at the Bristol Playa, we were very impressed. It is a fairly big complex and once we checked in, we were given a map to help find our room. This proved a bit difficult for us, as it all looks a bit strange when you first get there doesn't it?!! Our room was Block F, 246 which meant the door to the room was on the road with a balcony overlooking the pool. The room was very nice, quite big with everything you need in the kitchen. We did need to hire a fan though as there is no air conditioning and it got very warm at night in the room. (Although it felt chilly at night outside) Saturday night was unbearable and on Sunday morning at 10am, it was 42 degrees!
POOL
The pool area is lovely and clean, but the pools are very cold as they are all salt water. If you don't manage to grab a sun bed by 10ish, either you won't get one or you'll end up with one of the white plastic ones which are very uncomfortable. This got really annoying as sometimes, we would go down to the pool with our towels about 12, and people had put towels down and din't come down till about 3 in the afternoon. The pool bar is nice for a drink in the shade, but the staff are a bit slow!
EATING OUT
We found some great restaurants. (And one rubbish!) The rubbish one was on the sea front called Castaway. It's supposed to be an English Bar but it is Spanish run with Spanish Staff. DO NOT EAT HERE!!. I was really poorly and after speaking to others, they were too, and with the same meal --- Chilli! It was awful.
The Taj Mahal is the best Indian restaurant and it really was very good. The owner is a very friendly guy. We went here twice and also went to the Slow Boat Chinese twice. Blue Jeans Steakhouse was fantastic (got a real chilli here!) and we also found a nice Italian just along from the Underground pub, cannot remember the name though.
We always ended up after our meal for a few drinks at the end of the night in Jive Bunny. We had a great laugh in here with the owners Tony and Anne. This is the English Bar accross the road from the Hotel. They do a fantastic breakfast for 5 euros and they had something on most nights. (Don't play him at chess though cos you won't beat him!!)
We had a thouroughly enjoyable time, well rested and I am sure you will have a good time.

It was brillant here, recomend to anybody the apparments were lovely.
we were in block g with a see view. although it had its down falls cockroaches! they werent that bad we stayed for 14nights and only had a total of 4 vist from the unwanted.the rooms were big and clean. with a television and a phone and a small kitchen with microwave toaster cooker and kettle. there was a small pool side bar the dont bother buying foog its a pure down fall fof the hotel. the hotel its self was sparkling clean! three pools to cool you down. and plenty of sun beds! there is lots to keep every one entertained from parks and pool for the kids and a water basketball, snooker play offs ,water polo tennis shooting and many more for the more active and bowls if you just want to relax.
good family bars are the english bars near the end of town, the talk of the town was great. quiz night , bingo ,play your cards rite and karaoke. the venue closer to the the town center is also brill, with a singing dog! a must see. we eat out in lost of places but found the best two was blue jeans steak house and china town.
overall a great holiday. the only down fall is check out we had to be out are room at 12 noon but the coach wasn;t arriving till 6.00pm you are aloud to book a curtorsy room which you are aloud for half an hour (per fam). and if you dont book it early you could end up with a slotat 2 witch means sitting around in yours airport wear boiling!

Just returned from Bristol Playa apartments. The Apartments are situated at the bottom of main high street next to sea and we were very pleased when the coach dropped us off.
We were in Apartment B and had a pool view - apartments with a sea view at the front of the hotel couldn't dry swimwear etc
Our 1 bedroom apartment was very clean (no problems with ants or other creepy crawlies!) and had a microwave, toaster, kettle and plenty of crockery and cutlery. Beware the fridge doesn't cool items particularly well and would recommend you buy long life milk.
There is a supermarket on site but the locals use the large "Hipo Dino" supermarket which is only 5 minutes walk away (go up street which Jive Bunny pub is on and there is an old windmill structure visible - supermarket is opposite)
There are plenty of sunbeds available and the 3 pools are excellent - 1 for the small kids, another with an average depth and a deeper one. All are filled with salt water and are quite chilly when you first get in - not a bad thing though as it soon cools you down!
Pool bar was OK for drinks and ice creams but the food isn't anything special - probably better to make your own sandwiches.
Oscar was in charge of entertainment and although there was plenty of variety for adults (killer pool, table tennis, water polo, rifle and pistol shooting, darts, tennis) some of the families complained that more could be done for the Kiddies Club.
The activities in the resort are limited and we hired bicycles from the hotel and rode to the sand dunes (took about 45 minutes). We thought they were over-rated but enjoyed the bike ride which was amazing given neither of use had ridden a bike for over 10 years!
There are plenty of places to eat with the best one probably being the Blue Jeans Steakhouse.
There is plenty of construction work at the 'market' end of the town with a water park in the process of completion - don't know when it is due for opening.
Overall, the accommodation was excellent and in a good location and although the resort was quieter than we hoped we still enjoyed our holiday

We had a one bedroom apartment on the ground floor with a view of the pools. The room was very clean and equipped with everything you could need for cooking basic meals, including a microwave. The hotel staff were friendly and very helpful. All in all a very well run hotel.
The resort is great for families. We ate out every night and the restaurants were lovely. The restaurant staff were all very friendly especially towards the kids which I thought was really nice. We didn't visit one restaurant that we didn't like!
The weather was lovely and not too windy. I'd read about the wind and was expecting to get blown away but it was fine.
We loved it so much that we are going back to the same hotel next May and we have never done that before!
Don't forget to visit the sand dunes...they are beautiful!

My/Our Holiday Opinion:
We had been to the bristol Playa when it was all inclusive and the apartments were OK. When we arrived they said they had a problem with ants and a room was not ready, it happens so they put us up in another place for one night, no problem as long as there is sun and a pool Im happy
Next day we went back and after a little bit of delay (spanish time , u know what I mean) we got our apartment. everything OK, except when you go out of the front entrance the place stinks. They have a small sewage treatment plant right in front of some of the sea view apartments, something was wrong with it and it hummed.
As long as you were upwind it was fine but beware, the apart, ments are the sea view ones nearest to the harbour end.
Other wise a good holiday, we spent most of our time on the beaches on the north west side of the island. Good restaurants are poco loco and the fish one down by the harbour.

Just back from the Bristol Playa. Read the reviews before going which we found very useful. The appartments were clean and comfortable, just wish the pool was a bit warmer! We were there carnival week which was good to see but was pretty noisy on the all night sessions. Our two favourite restaurants were the Blue Jeans Steak House and La Sirena for its Paella. We would go back to Fuerteventura this time of the year for the weather and not being too busy, we would only choose the Bristol Playa Appartments for our accommodation.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:
Apartment complex was excellent. Reasonable size rooms, clean and with good equipment. The complex has good facilities too including a children's playground, small shop. The swimming pools are nicely laid out although the water was very cold. The complex location is good too - about 10 minutes walk into town. There are a couple of restaurants nearby (Avenida is good and was always full - excellent fresh fish). On the walk into town watch out for uneven pavements and big holes in the road, lots of building sites which are unfenced so keep small children under control.
Correlejo has quite a large number of restaurants. Of the ones we tried the Blue Jeans Steakhouse was my favourite. The Mesquina restaurant on the sea-front was disappointing.
Transport was a problem for us. We booked a taxi transfer to the resort, but when we arrived at the airport the rep. told us that they were not allowed to pre-book taxis so we would have to join the queue (which was about one hour wait). We took the coach anyway and got a refund on the taxi. Our return taxi trip was hair-raising due to the poor driving skills of the taxi-driver. I hope all the taxi drivers are not so bad.
Our car hire was poor too, due to Hertz providing a worn-out car in bad condition. Check the car over before you accept it - ours had several faults.
Generally a good holiday. We were glad we switched accommodation, before we arrived, from the Atlantico Playa after reading the reports on this website. Three other groups switched to our accommodation whilst we were there and confirmed that the Atlantico Playa was very poor.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:
The quality of the appartments was excellent - although the single bedroom appartments were too small for more than two people. We upgraded when we got there for 20e per day, well worth it as the two bedroom appartment had two balconies. We asked for a sea view which we really enjoyed. The pool looked great but was freezing in the mornings and cold in the afternoons. If you want to swim actively it would be ok.
In February the weather was 20-25c and sunny every day, except for one overcast day. It was always windy and felt colder than it actually waa. The sun was very strong. The sea temperature was c.19c, a bit on the cold side but possible to swim.
The hotel is at the north end of Corrallejo, the beach in front of the hotel was a dissapointment as it was too rocky to swim from. The main town beach was closed for health reasons which JMC did not mention, either at the time of booking or on arrival. The other town beaches did not look very clean. If you are prepared to get a bus or taxi then the dunes are magnificent. You could walk back with rests but it would take a couple of hours.
I liked the fact that the north end of the down was not developed for tourisn and had a very Spanish feel with not too many British tourists. Not a lot of English spoken either.
The town high street gets tackier as you go south. The south end is dominated by construction sites.
We took the island tour, camel rides and Lanzarotte tour. They were all reasonable value and interesting. The Lanzarotte tour includes the Fred Olsen catamarn which was impressive, as were the volcano and the caves. Our favourite trip was across to Lobos - not much there but a beautiful volcanic island with great walks. It is worth paying an extra couple of euros for a glass bottomed boat and mini cruise to Lobos, only 8-10e depending on the quality of the boat.
A great holiday, but I would imagine if you did get bad weather there wouldn't be much to do. I don't know if we would go back as the island was pretty desolate and we usually like to go somewhere new.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:
I travelled with a group of 25 people to Corralejo and we stayed at the Hisperia Bristol Playa and overall we enjoyed our stay. However, I would urge anyone thinking of staying here to read this.
The complex itself is nice with a lovely big pool and facilities such as a supermarket and tennis courts. The maid service is fantastic and we had clean towels almost everyday except weekends. The apartments themselves were pretty basic but they were nice and clean. There was evening entertainment every evening for both children and adults although we preferred to walk into Corralejo town centre as there is a lot more choice.
Despite the fact we enjoyed our stay at the Bristol Playa, on behalf of all 25 of us, I would like to point out that there has been some recent security issues with this complex. We were advised of some thefts on the complex by a man who was staying next to my aunt. The next day a camcorder was taken, along with the charger which was separate, and a digital camera from the apartment of a family member whilst she and her family were out. A member of staff had been to change the locks while she was out and those above mentioned items were missing. It was obvious that it was this member of staff because my aunt had locked all doors and windows and he had let himself in with a key.
We all went along to reception and the staff were unhelpful to say the least. Their response was,"Put a claim in when you get back" That is an absolute insult!! The rep got involved at this point but she didn't have a clue as she hadn't been in the resort long so the matter then went to the local police. After that we noticed armed security patrolling the complex which suggests that they had had more reports of theft on the complex than just us. Other couples we spoke to had said they had had similar type problems too. Overall, I would advise going to the complex as it is really nice but just be careful with posessions as we felt staff could not be trusted.
On a more positive note, Corralejo was a pleasant surprise. I liked the fact that it was a traditional Spanish town. The harbour is really lovely and there are frequent boat trips over to Lanzarote.
Eating out in Corralejo is a pleasure as there are so many different restaurants and there are some beautiful ones around the harbour. However, my favourite was La Avenida which is outside the town centre not far from Jive Bunny Bar. It was great value for money with delcious food. Understandably it is popular with locals so get there early!
Fuerteventura is pretty quiet compared to the other Canary Islands especially of a night. There are a few clubs open until the early hours in Corralejo but if it's a booze filled holiday you're after then you will be disappointed. The locals and young tourists flock to the Centro Atlantico where there is a good choice of lively bars on the top floor. We discovered an 80's bar called The Venue which was fun. There are some other lively bars a bit further down the main street. The Talk of The Town and The 60S's & 70's bar always had a good quiz or fun and games on.
Of a day I would advise people to take a taxi or bus to either Flag Beach or La Oliva Beach which costs just a few Euros. La Oliva is one of the most beautiful beaches you will ever see. Corralejo;s beaches in the town are not that great and are just small coves. It is worth paying the few Euros in a taxi just to see La Oliva beach. If shopping is more your thing then try the main street in Corralejo - shops and restaurants in abundance. Why not try a boat trip over to Lanzarote or Isla De Los Lobos. Our family went on the glass bottom boat excursion over to that island and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Overall, we all thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and I would return to Corralejo and the Bristol Playa - but I would get a safe just to ensure valuables are safe. Despite that happening we didn't let it spoil our holiday and a good time was had by all - until we encountered terrible turbulence on our return flight to Manchester! I couldn't wait to land..
